One of the Worst MXPX Albums.......2007-03-13

As an avid MXPX fan (I've been there from Pokinatcha and have every album since), I could not like this album, no matter how hard I tried. It's manufactured power-pop, no edge, nothing original, and not even close to anything near MXPX's true potential. It's clear that Mike & gang were really struggling lyric-wise, because the songs are the same rehashed lyrics. While they have very few catchy melodies and guitar progressions, this album is worth passing by.

MXPX Excellence.......2007-03-08

My favorite MXPX album of all! I've been a fan for over 10 years and own nearly all their albums. If I was forced to choose one MXPX cd to play everyday, I'd choose this one. Unique style - each song with a different sound - still that signature punk band freedom.

Not that great.......2006-06-15

Okay, I love MxPx, but this album dissapointed me. The only good songs are Play It Loud, Well Adjusted, and a few others which get old really quick. I also don't see any of their amazing lyric writing on this album, and the music just sounds like Relient K. Luckily, the new MxPx album Panic has returned to the good stuff. Unless you are a die hard fan who just must own every MxPx album, go ahead and skip this. Instead buy Panic or one of the older albums.

The black sheep.......2005-12-31

This cd isnt good at all.It sounds almost as if they tried to sell out but failed miserably.I think that even they realize that it wasnt a very good cd.If you listen to their newest release "Panic" you'll realize that they had to take a step back and take a second look at things.If this cd didn't exist then I could say that MxPx is flawless.

not the best but good.......2005-12-10

This cd is on the pop-punk side. I dont like pop-punk but this albums still pretty good. I like mxpx's old stuff when they were actually kind of street punk. That music was fast and it made you want to jump around and go crazy. Well as i said this cd is still worth buying, but I would recomend their older albums over this one.

Love the choices.......2006-08-11

This is great. Anything with Ethel, Bernadette, Barbara (both of them), Mary, and Marin is beyond words. Any one of them by themselves is awesome but these ladies together are mind blowing. All of the women sound amazing but they made a mistake on the list of songs and composers. "Raise the Roof" sung by Julia Murney (I love her)was written by Andrew Lippa, not LaChusia.

The divas are indeed divine, but the choice of music sung left me wondering why, with so many other great music selection contenders.

OK, so it sounds crazy to review an album with Ethel Merman and Bernadette Peters on it and not mention them. But...tough. I've read enough about them to know how good they are.

Buy this album as a token of love to the producer who had the cajones to put Julia Murney on an album celebrating the last 100 years of Broadway divas.

Because SHE is one of the greatest voices of the decade!

Music of Burton Lane.......2006-02-18

This CD is a real delight as Michael Feinstein is one of my favorite performers. He does a great job with this music by Burton Lane. I have both Volumns of music by Burton Lane and I enjoy listenting to both of these CD's

Great CD!.......2000-11-26

It took awhile for me to enjoy the songs on this CD, but once I did, I couldn't stop listening. There are romantic songs, funny songs, powerful songs. A little something for everyone. If you don't enjoy it at the first listen - don't give up! This CD will definately grow on you!

Impressive single.......2003-06-07

This may be the best maxi-cd I've ever come across. Everything but the girl's "Before today" is a gentle, simple, touching love song, straightforward in its message and very charming. So a bunch of producers who had influenced them or would later do it remixed the song. And wow, they are quite a dream team.

Adam F shows us his vision of mellow drum'n bass, months before he released his album "Colours" (with a Tracy Horn song in it, btw). There are trumpets, echoes, and somehow he manages to accentuate the melancholy in that song, changing the chaotic beats of the original mix to a very soft and gentle two-step. The break of the song, with a synthesised acoustic guitar, recalls house and the best touching moments of electronica. It's a masterpiece on it's own.

The album version is less heavy on arragements, though the drums are a bit more present. It goes straight to the point, the lyrics, and is effective for that aparent simplicity.

The first Darren Emmerson (from Underworld then) mix is a very interesting trance song. He takes two or three samples from the album version and adds a repetitive synth and his usual complexity of rythms. More than 9 minutes of a hypnothic trip. Fascinating.

The second mix from Emmerson is not that interesing, and that's a pity. It's just one of his songs, very dark and danceable, but with no relation with the original album version. He could had taken off the "i want it now" vocals and release it as a b-side, really.

The Chicane mix is the most beautiful piece Mr Bracegirdle has ever released, and that's saying a lot. It sounds like some slow pieces in "far from the maddening crowds" (leaving town), but with every bit of the melody of the song. There's piano improvising, a noticeable bass, a slow drum'n bass rhythm, and it ends like no dream could end better. Another masterpiece on its own, and one understands why EBTG took this mix for their "Like the deserts miss the rain" compilation.

The Dillinja mix is dark drum'n bass. Just pure dillinja dark drum'nbass, not remarkable in any aspect, not especially moving or danceable.

But the first, third and fifth mix deserves the purchase of this amazing album, really.
