Should Confusion

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Brandon Patton, originally from St. Paul, MN, made a solo record in 1997, Nocturnal, before joining up with Anand Nayak in Massachusetts and forming the Boston area power trio three against four. He now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Album Description
Should Confusion is Brandon Patton's first solo album since 1997. Like a musical Dave Eggers, Patton tries to get personal and vulnerable while trying to navigate the inherent cliches in writing about himself. The mostly acoustic guitar based songs vary from unplugged rock to alt country, and from studio pop to bedroom recording. As far as musical intent, file near Badly Drawn Boy, Elliot Smith, the Eels, and Beck-- with a little Wilco, Paul Simon, Tom Waits, and Ani DiFranco thrown in.

5 out of 5 stars Rock that pops.......2005-11-30

I love this record. It moves and thrives. It is heady and catchy and easy and sophisticated all at once. Preview it at his website (brandonpatton.com) and see if it isn't worth the price.

5 out of 5 stars Lovely indeed.......2005-11-28

A sweet 'n' low album of love songs and other ballads. Patton will charm your heart and your pants off. Your toes will tap, your head will nod, and you will sing his ditties in your head for the next three days.

5 out of 5 stars How lovely.......2003-12-12

Brandon is brilliant. He articulates emotion in words and music like no other boy with a guitar. There's a bit of everything on this album and I cannot stop playing it over and over again. Yeah!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!.......2003-10-10

This is a fabulous album -- Patton's best so far. Beautiful lyrics, great use of acoustic guitar and myriad other instruments, great vocal range, just great stuff. It feels like everything else Patton has been in anticipation of, and leading up to, this point. His diverse range of musical interests and abilities are on on display here, and all working together. Really a great album; I highly recommend it!!
