Where are the missing songs?.......2005-11-03

The first Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album was a classic. It needs to be re-issued in it's entirety. I have been looking for it for years. I already own their second album(CD) "Ricochet" so buying this CD would be a waste as I am only getting half the songs of the first album and some of the best were left off. Anyone who feels the same should also write a review and perhaps we can get the producers to give us one CD with their first two albums together in their entirety.

Why only half of the picture?.......2001-05-12

This is a compilation that contains half songs from The Dirt Band's first album and half from their second. Both of these albums are very short and would have easily fit on one disc. Everytime I listen to it, it just annoys me that I can't hear the other half of the first album. Some of the most interesting songs, such as "Euphoria", "Melissa" and "Crazy Words, Crazy Tune" were left off. I wish I could find the first album in it's entirety on compact disc.

The first two albums by the Dirt Band were split in half for one disc released in the UK in 1967. Only having half of each album leaves a good second half out of the picture. BGO has reissued "Ricochet" in it's entirety, so why have this album out with half of that on it? Why not just reissue the first album? The first album is essential in any west-coast, jugband,country (etc.) collection. If you can find the LP of it (Liberty LST-7501) pick it up. This is a good compilation for the Bruce Kunkel-era Dirt Band (just these two albums,only). You should then seek out BGO's 2 on 1 of the Dirt Band's 3rd and 4th albums "Alive" and "Rare Junk".

I had the opportunity to see dragbeat live a few weeks ago. They sound awsome in concert and I was hooked. This cd sounds equally as good. The music is eclectic but it rocks.

Hot Rod Spy Music is what this could be classified as. They play some seriously mean and dirty grooves without being metal. All original songs except a remake of The Pretenders' "Tattooed Love Boys." Primarily a guitar/bass/drums lineup with a female vocalist, there is enough horns & piano in all the right places to make this quite a delicious listen. For the first time that I've seen, here's a CD-ROM (or DVD) that's got some really cool stuff on it - a music video, a film short, and photos! An extra bonus for those with computers!

Cool new band with music styles ranging from straight ahead loud guitar rock n' roll to swingin' torch to 70's punk/pop. And it works ... seamlessly! Also includes awesome interactive package w/multimedia section and an amazing video. Looks like a twisted Twilight Zone episode meets Honey West! Very cool!
