Corpses & Tightrope Walkers
Editorial Reviews
Michael B Peaslee, RetroMotive
"Corpses & Tightrope Walkers is all emoting. A classic, flowery bard's tale. The only cover, Blue Oyster Cult's "Reaper", is sickly appropriate. Where they lack meatiness, the voids are filled with drama and over-instrumentation. Every track is flawless, superbly hand crafted. Producer Don Budd does this like a god, but braver music has sharp edges. RetroMotive's brilliant debut is still a debut. RetroMotive seals the deal with life's blood and soul guts. More please.
About the Artist
RetroMotive blends their affection and appreciation for artists like Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Fixx, The Smiths, and The Cure with their own interpretation of music and melody. Wrapping the music around their words, RetroMotive opens the door for a moment of travel, and offers a robe of experience to anyone who pays them a listen. RetroMotive has existed in its current incarnation since 1991. From the conception of the group, Elias Corey, the octave guitarist and bassist, a published poet,...

I dig it.......2006-11-02
I just finished working in a haunted house in which I was in the House of 1000 Corpses room (as a cheerleader victim). I have not seen the movie but have been a long time fan of Rob. I hadn't heard the soundtrack either (shame on me) until the haunted house but I immediately fell in love with it and am going right out to buy it. Even after listening to it over and over again for several nights, 6+ hours at a time, one might think I'd never want to hear it ever again, but quite the opposite! My particular favorites are House of 1000 Corpses, Dr. Wolfenstein, Brick House, Run Rabbit Run, and some of the musical pieces with signature heavy base lines. The Ramones and other tracks are definite bonuses. If you liked Hellbilly Deluxe, Super Sexy Swinging Sounds, etc you will like this one too. It's a great energizer for a night on the town or for scaring the *@#&! out of people...
Rob Zombie at his best.......2005-11-04
I purchased the CD on a whim, likely the movie and rob zombie. But this cd surpasses all of the other soundtracks to movies. Rob Zombie really out do's himself with creepy lyrics and ghostly noises. The short movie quotes in between a few of the songs, also added charcter. It also includes a Ramones track, " Now I wanna sniff some glue," which flowed well with the metal tone of Rob Zombie. All in all, I listen to this CD all the time and enjoy it more than I ever thought I would. A great buy.
With a vibe & style you can't hide from for long........2005-07-04
Mr. Zombie, as usual, hints on psychotic perfection with this great release. Because he delivers such great projects, he has and will remain my favorite artist. I'm looking forward to what he has to offer next.
The Way Soundtracks Should Be..........2005-06-17
One of the best horror flicks in recent memory led to one of the best soundtracks. Rob Zombie himself actually performs 4 of the songs on this soundtrack, which also features sound clips from the film, and let me say that the songs he performs are some of the best songs he's done in his entire career. One of the standout tracks on this soundtrack is the Slim Whitman version of "I Remember You." If you saw the film, the song is played during a rather memorable death sequence. The Ramones "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue" is one here, and so Is Buck Owens! I'm no expert but when are you ever gonna find Buck Owens, The Ramones, and Slim Whitman on the same album ever again? Buy this one fellas. Something for everyone, not just Rob fanatics and gorehounds.
GO SEE THE DEVIL'S REJECTS..SEQUEL TO HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES OPENING JULY 2005!
Best soundtrack ever!.......2005-05-30
This is one of the most intesting soundtracks ever done for a movie. I love that Rob Zombie included music that is not only not his own but also very different from his own. I love Rob and his music but I think he will go far with Movies and Soundtracks as well, he is very open minded and has a great sense of music in it's place no matter what style. Everyone should own this CD.

Slip On Your Gore Jacket And Prepare To Sing Along.......2006-10-03
This album is possibly one of the greatest gore metal albums I've ever encountered. You can say that they're goregrind, as they do have a definite grindcore influence along with their brutal death metal, but this isn't a disc you'll get bored of after just a few songs. Nope, this is pure brilliance.
The dual vocal assault of Ben Rotted and Mr. Gore is one of the standouts on this CD. The vocal range is what really got me into this band, from growls to higher pitched screaming. Every member of this band does their part well. The lyrics, well, they're repulsive to many, but pleasing to few, like me.
Favorite tracks: All of them! You won't get bored with this if you want over-the-top, genuine gore fun.
Gore metal at its finest..........2005-08-30
For all exhumed fans and lovers out there? Look no further then gorerotted's "only tools and corpses" truly an amazing work and pure evil and brutal as well. Highly recommended
The Perfect way to start another nightmare..........2005-05-07
Gorerotteds first cd was infiltrating to the senses but their new cd takes those senses and hacks them to bits. Every song is now different from every song on the cd but at the same time exactly alike, and the songs are truly brutal to say the least. Never before have I heard such an awesome album not to mention that it is only their second cd and they have already perfected their own unique sound. This is a must buy!!!
The pride and joy of the goregrind scene.......2004-12-24
Gorerotted are the kings of the modern U.K. goregrind scene and this album truly shows why. Fast paced, brutal songs with hilarious lyrics and vocal stylings make this whole album a half hour of pure gorey fun. There is a two vocalist assault, and these two men make some of the sickest sounds ever recorded on album. The vocalists go from a puking sound, to a burping sound, to a growl, to a high pitched yell/scream, really it is the vocals that make this band king. The lyrics are just extremely over the top, and pretty much everything about this band is over the top. Gorerotted never gets brutal just for the sake of getting brutal though, these are 9 songs of pure gore grinding sickness and madness. Gorerotted is definitely not the most brutal goregrind band, but they are one of the most creative and talented goregrind bands for sure.
"Well headbangers... Wasn't that one a real SMASH!".......2004-11-05
Gorerotted are one of the most impressive bands you will currently find on the metal scene. Complete with gorey lyrics and ridiculously funny song titles, Gorerotted back up their funny attitude with some REAL musicianship, an area where extremists such as Mortician and other such bands fall flat. Firsty, there's the amazing duel vocal assualt Mr.Gore (ultra, ultra deep death vocals) and Goreskin, who has a mad distinguishable, heavily english accented high pitched scream. It gives the music a feel too.... To me I imagine dark, dripping 19th century underworld torture chambers. Also worth mentioning, Mr.Gore has left the band but has not been replaced, The Wilson (bass) taking over on his behalf for the vocals. Hopefully he can do it just as well, 'cuz I really enjoy this pair.
The Wilson is an awesome bassist, he can do just about anything and really puts some inventive stuff through the mix that can be well heard... yes great production as well!
Whilst being very heavy, Fluffy and Robin Pants are ultra tight guitarists, they write some freakin sick rhythms and great leads. I really love the solos too, although they are few.
Junky John Rushforth is an awesome drummer, he changes times perfectly and keeps things very interesting, one of the more inventive drummers and definitely one of the more skilled. He plays some VERY fast double bass and can blastbeat the pants of just about anyone around these days (except for maybe Flo Mournier and Derek Roddy)!
To describe the music, I would say it's a combination of grind, extreme punk and hardcore death metal... Of course its hella brutal! Time changes, memorable songs and addictive riffs make sure it's something very hard to say negative things about. I really love the way everything meticulously crafted so that every moment of every song is worth listening to.
All in all, i would recommend this cd to all death metal and grindcore fans, this is a band that doesn't rely on extremities to sell records, buy this, worship it then tell ya friends to do the same!!
Highest recommendations! :D

Product Description
If you know your surrealism, the title will tell you these were improvisations created by layering each musician's input atop the others, with each one hearing only one slice of what was being recorded. One track sounds particularly fun -- each player played against a backwards-recorded track. In the mixdown, they flipped a coin to see which direction they would run the final piece, and "backwards" seems to have won out.
This isn't a release by a band, per se -- it's a gathering of musicians who know one another and who got a grant to record at New York's P.S. 122 studio. Kinda cool. Released by a label in Santa Fe. 18 Songs.

Perfectly Crafted.......2000-04-20
This is possibly the greatest album ever made. It combines a perfect blend of music and soul scorching imagery. The sultry tones of the vocals, blended with the etherial musical skill of the band, make for a perfect union. This recording is a must.
Very good, but even better live.......2000-02-15
This album is a marvelous debut that shows the Retromotive experience in its basics. The sultry notes of this album are a medataionists paradise; full of subtle and seemless ballads. Of Retromotives fifty some songs, these twelve will wet your appetite for the rest. And for the time being, the way to do this is during a live show. And as much as this album is soothing and escapist, the live show is thrilling and exasperating. To the band, if you learn to transform your live performances to the disk, you will provide your listeners with the essence of your talents. To the listeners, hope that they accomplish this. Sell us more dope music please.
