About the Artist
Blend jazz influences such as John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, throw in a dash of black R&B, and mix in a bowl with the modern synthesizers, otherworldly samples and computer-generated sounds. Shrink Wrap serves up a unique blend of the best of contempory dance music, world beat and jazz. Their songs come at you like an organically evolving growth generated from a contemporary urban and modern-day eco-political dreamscape.

The brothers Jim and Steve Wilson have both been involved in music one way or another for over 30 years. Jim (sax/keyboards) received a degree in music from Boston University's School of Fine and Applied Arts and has been composing and playing experimental and jazz oriented music ever since. Brother Steve (percussion) grew up listening to and playing black generated R&B and contemporary Jazz. While living and working in Philadelphia, Steve taught university courses, lectured and published widely on such topics as the Psychology of Religion and Shamanism. He was also the driving rhythm machine behind Taboo, a Philly based Jazz/Blues band. Steve moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1995, and now dedicates himself full-time to the music.

Album Description
Jazz-electronica group Shrink Wrap, consisting primarily of composers and performers James and Steve Wilson ("the brothers"), has just released a new CD called Neural Connection. This CD explores new rhythmic and sonic territory, with most tracks containing a solid driving beat overlaid with unusual harmonic content, and solo instrumental improvisations by James Wilson (sax and keyboard). As James puts it: " we are quite proud of this album, but it’s not going to appeal to everyone. A number of the tracks require ‘intense listening1’ in order to connect with the sounds. This means the listener needs to put some of his or her energy into it and hopefully get it back in a new way, and ideally in larger quantities!"
