Not All That, But Still A Fan.......2005-08-19
Hands down, I am a HUGE DM fan!! -BUT- Aside from Martin Gore's first EP: Counterfeit - The solo stuff these guys put out is just sort of boring to say the least. I am a fan of "the remix" I admit, so hearing this somewhat, well.. boring song get remixed and dancefloor ready makes it more tolerable for me. I have to say I really don't care for Dave's solo efforts... I'm an old school fan of electronics, keyboards, synths, loops, hooks, and this dreary bathroom floor stuff just lacks if you ask me. So...blah blah blah... if you're a fan of the remix, this may be interesting to you if you like DM, if not.. don't bother. Although there are several remixes of the song... they all end up sounding alike and just become too long. I'm quite honestly on the fence with this one. I liked it, but was still left feeling a bit let down.
Dave Gahans first single.......2003-11-15
The remixes to this single are excellent and are what fans of dave gahan expect. It would have been nice if they could have added another song from the album and remix it too. Any fan of depeche mode or dave gahan will enjoy this single.
definitely impressed.......2003-08-09
As with the full length disc, that offers a DVD which provides the consumer the most value possible, this single does what it should: gives the consumer several songs with highly interesting mixes.
The songs on this recent effort by Gahan truly come to life in a major way live. I would encourage those who criticized recent efforts to reconsider the work and see it live.
Gahan is giving this his all and the energy, power and grandeur of his work are more appreciated with every listen.
I'm giving it a four instead of a five because, alas, I do not find this song to be as strong as DM's best work.
However, Dave Gahan is a great musician who deserves so much praise for this admirable work!
Mr. Depeche Mode's solo single........2003-07-19
This is the first single from the lead vocalist of Depeche Mode --- Mr. Dave Gahan. This single "Dirty Sticky Floors" hasn't broke through on radio yet but is a huge club single. The Mixes included are by Junkie XL,The Pasengerz ,Lexicon Avenue and Silencer. The Junkie XL Vocal Mix( 10:44) is a great trance/ house mix. The Passengerz Dirty Club Vocal Mix(7:25) is the one most clubs will be playing. It is the wonderful bassline and vocals of Mr. Gahan the work best. He always sounds so good under a great house mix!!The Lexicon Avenue Vocal Mix(10:31) is similar to the Junkie XL mix but gives a harder bassline the focus. The Silencer Remix(6:38) is basically an electro style dub mix. You get 2 bonus tracks-"Stand Up"(5:28) and "Maybe"(4:52) that are great as well. This is a great start musically for Dave Gahan .
Great Single!.......2003-06-21
This is the first single from Dave's solo album and my favorite track (but not the only excellent one) from the album. As far as singles go this one is very good. I grew up loving the remixes on the late 80s and early 90s CD singles and find most recent CD single remixes lacking. This is not the case here there is a good mix of remixes and sounds to keep both modern fans and fans of earlier ages very happy. Not to mention the bonus tracks which are good enough to have been included on the album. I guess they had to save some of the good stuff for the CD singles too. I would highly recommend buying this if you are a Depeche Mode or Dave Gahan fan, if you like his album or even just like the song.

Here today, and definitely not GAHAN tomorrow.......2003-05-29
Dave proves again, he's here to stay. The guitar riff on this song will STICK in your head. In fact the whole album is a great solo debut, and an excellent mixture of Dave's hardcore edgy yet serene melodic voice. Suddenly a dirty sticky floor doesn't sound so bad.

Paper Monsters.......2003-08-12
Those that like Depeche Mode will be mildly impressed with frontman David Gohans foray into life as a solo artist. The tracks from the CD are for the most part gritty, a reminder of tracks from the CD Songs of Faith and Devotion which at the time was groundbreaking for Depeche Mode. The only problem of course is that CD was released back in 1993. 10 years later its nothing but the same for Gohan. Whereas Songs of Faith and Devotion possessed a sense of raw anger (Gohan's bitter divorce clearly factored into this CD), Paper Monsters lacks that raw emotion. Still I could be wrong in my assessment as the first track to be released off of the CD, Dirty Sticky Floor is getting a lot of air time. Best track for me would be Stay. All in all though its more of the same, a clear disappointment in the end
