David Bradstreet

Editorial Reviews
Greg Quill, Toronto Star, Feb 2002
Bradstreet is an engaging reminder of the best of 1970s acoustic folk-rock - surprisingly fresh 25 years later.

Craig MacInnis, Hamilton Spectator
It's interesting to hear Bradstreet in the late '90s ... influenced artists like Jane Siberry and Sarah McLachlan...

5 out of 5 stars Very soothing.......2003-12-15

Very nicely done cd. The songs are slow, not overly complicated, and use a variety of instruments (piano, guitar, cello, drum at some points, flute etc). There are 4 songs on the cd, all about 12 minutes long. Since they're not listed by Amazon I'll include them here: Awakening (subtitled East, Morning, Spring, Possibilities); Flourish (subtitled South, Noon, Summer, Growth), Thanksgiving (subtitled West, Afternoon, Autumn, Gratitude), and Dream World (subtitled North, Night, Winter, Sleep). I hadn't read the cd insert until just recently but in it Bradstreet talks about a technique incorporated into the songs called Binaural Beat Brain Wave (I don't completely understand since its just a short paragraph about it but it seems as though the music is designed to create specific sine waves that our brains will relate to in order to relax and let go of stress/tension. It definitely works for me. This is one I like to listen to before falling asleep at night - especially since so much of our body's repair work is done while we sleep. Great cd! Highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars Soothing without being distracting.......2003-12-01

This CD is not distracting as I have found others of this genre to be; it is not full of "nature sounds". While I can find the music beautiful to listen to, it can truly fade into the background, which is what I want it to do.

Without fail, I find myself relaxing into a deep state of peacefulness and calmness, as do those around me. I listen to it while I am working in my studio (I am an artist), while I am "working in my home", and when I am just relaxing. As a matter of fact, my children have asked me to turn it off at times due to the fact that is making them drowsy! They have also put it on themselves when they have felt the need to de-stress.

I highly recommend this CD, especially to those who also dislike the "traditional" nature-sounds and newage music style of relaxation CD's formerly available.

4 out of 5 stars Better than Expected - Worth Recommending.......2007-05-26

I have listened for years to slightly "doctored" classic music to enhance concentration, focus, and relaxation. I find these tapes worked very well for me even when I was writing/editing long narratives such as grants, etc. I do not like a lot of "new age" music, I tend to find it too spacey - it's ok when you are getting a massage, but not okay for staying focused, yet relaxed on a time-consuming project. I wondered if I would like this CD and if it would work. I like all the tracks well enough to listen to all of them and, at the beginning of the day or work session, I find listening to them in sequence helps me find a very productive state of mind. Once I get going, though, I tend to listen only to the second half of the disk. I would definitely recommend this CD, especially to writers.

    Product Description

Therapeutic Sleep CD - from JUNO Award Winner, David Bradstreet. “I am tired all day, but I have trouble falling asleep.” “When I wake up in the middle of the night, I canÂ’t get back to sleep.” Recognize these common complaints experienced by many in our busy, stressed world? Sleep deprivation has a big impact on quality of life, possibly causing attention and memory problems, depressed mood, sleepiness during the day, loss of productivity, and far too many accidents. According to the International Longevity Centre (2003) sleep disorders often begin in mid-life, but many children have trouble sleeping as well. If you experience sleep difficulties, this CD will help you in your journey to get them under control. - Amy Clements-Cortés B.M.T. M.Mus, MTA

JUNO Award Winner David Bradstreet's latest song CD. "We recorded this CD live-off-the-floor (vocal, guitars and bass) in three days, January 26 - 28, 2006 at Ray Montford's cool loft studio in Toronto. We added only some guitar overdubs and background vocals to our acoustic ensemble (with electric bass.) This is the album I should have made 30 years ago!"
