Pat & Dan Biography
Acoustic alt/pop duo Pat Gibbons & Dan Hylton have a musical partnership that dates back over ten years. Playing as an acoustic guitar duo in college, they were a sensation in the campus town of Iowa State University. They developed a habit of upstaging the louder, electric combos for which they opened with their unique guitar interplay and fun interaction with the crowd. Moving to Minneapolis, they formed the four-piece alt/pop band 44\227making a creative brand of harmony-laden, freshly-literate, and catchy music that drew comparisons to national acts Barenaked Ladies and Crash Test Dummies. 44 had a run throughout the 1990s, releasing the album Free Land Wall and playing Twin Cities venues such as The Fine Line, O'Gara's Garage, and First Avenue while \223increasingly drawing large crowds of emotionally-charged fans\224 (Spindrift Magazine, June 1999).

In the spring of 2002, Pat & Dan decided it was time to begin recording their ever-increasing base of original songs for posterity. They stepped back from \223the scene\224 and began working hard at the first of the pure Pat & Dan recordings\227Camden Garden. In this new venture, a slightly different sound began to emerge\227more earnest, a little more acoustic, but still thick with the harmonies, intelligent lyrics, and fun musical progression that their fan base has come to expect.

Today, Pat & Dan can be found in the Twin Cities music scene, playing at coffee shops and clubs with just two acoustic guitars, and loving every minute of it.

What can you say? A densely textured, multi-layered pop-rock tour-de-force. Comparisons with other bands, while tempting, never quite seem to hit the mark and ultimately leave me wanting to add another one into the mix. Ultimately your best bet is to check it out for yourself.

Even the artwork seems a notch or two above your average self-released and self-produced offering.

These guys really put the pieces together. You can't say enough in any genre or discipline about paying attention to detail and not settling for the first thing out of the box.

I look forward eagerly to the next installment from Pat and Dan
