Unsaid

Editorial Reviews
From the Artist
The CD project "Unsaid" reached quality and performance levels beyond our expectations. This is due to an incredible group of support musicians like Andrew Kamman--longtime drummer for Peter Himmelman, Rob Genadek--the engineer with the most talented set of "ears" in the universe, and Steve Richardson who's guitar energy and skill gave life to a sure hit, Love Reigns. It was a magical gathering of lives and talents rarely found in our wanderings through this world. Deepest thanks to all who were called by the unsaid of the unknown to be there.

About the Artist
This trio of musicians all grew up in the same neighborhood of Minneapolis. They all started playing around the age of fourteen. They played the midwest club and school circuits until taking a break to try the 9:00 to 5:00 world as a Jeweler, an Architect, and a WEB Master. Forever feeling the pull of music performance fever, they came out to write and record the "Unsaid" CD.

Album Description
This is truly a new direction for alternative music. This collection contains tracks with feel-good rhythms and hauntingly attractive melodies. The style combines Rock, new age, and pop in a unique and different way. No empty headed lyrics here. These songs will keep you interested in all things left "Unsaid".

5 out of 5 stars The beginning.......2006-02-15

First album, monster comeout. Get this: 1994. Get yourself laid back to that date, get a couple of beers and put this cd on. You'll love it from top to bottom. Over and over again. Forget the huge superhit "Shine". Sister Don't Cry, Goodnight Good guy any of the tracks has its charm, has its distinct "C.S." tampering all over it. It's their sound, it's their style. Get the riffs, while three different guitars play along. And get ready for a journey that will ultimately take you back again to its roots in "From the Ground Up".

Welcome to the fan club.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!.......2006-02-12

Great CD! It has a sound that is slightly different from all their other albums, maybe because this was the guys demo. But who cares! This album shows how great the potential they started with and how great Ed Roland can write lyrics! It is catchy and is my new fave!
Any CS fan should have this one, and anyone starting out and leaning about CS should have as well.

5 out of 5 stars Clues, Remarks, and the Fundamentals of a coming of age band........2006-02-09

With this release, at first, noone believed that these guys were real. They are great..but won't last past their second album. The early 90's was seeing a plethora of change as bands tried to establish an identity for themselves while at the same time distance their music from the mainstream, which was drowning in copy cats and cookie cutter offshoots of founding grunge material.

..."things left unsaid" was a statement for Collective Soul, that they were the 90's answer to 80's Van Halen and 70's Bad Company. This album, compared to now their entire discography, is probably the hardest edged. It's excellent in structure but like many band's debut's into the mainstream, a little more "Raw" which is why I think it has stood the test of time.

13 tracks varying in theme and style grace this album. "Reach" "Breathe" and "Shine" are rock anthems that are powerful, fun, and clear in message. "Goodnight good guy" "Love lifted me" and "In a moment" show us the softer side of this rock band. These last three mentioned however, are not extreme "crooners" with a high pitched wail and the word "love" being said every other second, these to me are TRUE ballads, they are slow but not to slow, soft but still strong in vocals and guitar, and varying in the message so that it's not another "lost love" kind of song that we've all heard before. Just a great overall album with a mixture of musical talent that reaches out to the listener.

4 out of 5 stars great music, crappy production.......2005-12-19

This CD would be so much better if it were remastered. Compared to all of their other albums this just is not a quality recording.

Now, the songs...that's a different story. I do love listening to this CD, for it is packed with very good music. I don't feel like skipping any song on this. I do daily workouts to music, and I use 'Hints...' for my workout from time to time. So I divide the songs on here into two catagories: workout worthy and other. Here are the one's I consider workout worthy:

*Shine
*Goodnight, Good Guy
*Wasting Time
*Love Lifted Me
*Breathe
*All

Please, whoever is reading and can do anything about it - REMASTER THIS CD!!!!

5 out of 5 stars This is Collective Soul when only the music mattered.......2004-01-05

I bought this CD back in '95 and it has remained one of my favorites since. Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid is an eclectic collection of melodic rock-infused tracks, soulful ballads, and beautiful instrumental string arrangements. This record, though not as commercially viable as later releases, is a showcase of Collective Soul's versatillity and talent, and an epitaph to their idealism and integrity as an independent garage band striving to make a name for themselves.

Later Collective Soul albums seem to be motivated more by dollar signs and record deals than by the uncorrupted passion for music that drives Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid. The band recorded this album independently before fishing for a label and when they signed onto Atlantic Records, the disc was re-pressed, but the original independent recordings were used. This is an album that could only be made independently, free from the tampering of record execs and from the influence of business.

This is one of those rare albums that is all about the music. A true classic, a standard, and a time capsule from a Georgia garage band that made it big.

If you like Collective Soul's new sound, do not shy away from this album, but be prepared for something a little different.

        Product Description

Pulling from influences like Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, and Pantera, Better Left Unsaid incorporates them all in a unique way. "Opening with the thunderous "Never Again" with its melodic chorus and true metal in between, this is a formula that works incredibly well for this band throughout this release. Next up is "Repletion," which is even heavier with more growl to the vocals, heavy breakdowns and an infectious chorus that stayed in my head for hours. This is definitely my favorite track off the album and would make a fantastic single with all its dynamic changes and overall heaviness blended with melody. Other standout tracks include the brutal "Sweets" and the furious tirade of "Impurity" with its monster chorus. Closing the album is "Cold Inside" with its raunchy guitars and epic feel, making it a perfect ending to what I think is an incredible independent release..." 5 out of 5 stars Jared rocks ..........2002-12-13

I used to hang out with these guys in highschool, if that helps. I would to go to thier shows and what not. I am not really very in to metal or hardcore so frankly I have no criteria by which to compare or review them. However, they are pretty metal, that is to say they are bloody raw. Which is kind of funny because these guys aren't very tough in real life. During highschool we would just sit around, or occasionally jump in the lake, it was pathetic. Also, Jared is disgusting, and lee is too damm sensitive. And quinn is half human. and there is one other guy that I don't remember. But still you should buy the album because they diabolical rock.
