    You have sent an e-mail inviting me to give my opinion on this
    item.I am sorry I cannot go over 2 stars as unfortunately there
    is a defect on last track of the record, precisely on the song
    "The last Rose of Summer".Anyhow I intend to buy other Deanna
    Durbin's records as I enjoy very much her voice, but unfortunately the wallet is empty now.
    Thanks for all your help on trying to find "Shane: a Tribute to Victor Young"but no euccess. I will try to buy another item later.

    This is a good CD only because of Deanna Durbin, but it is not a good CD for the following:

    - It's stated right on the back of the jewel case that the source material used was "original 78 rpm records."
    - The music is so compressed that there is no-longer any dynamic range left. I imagine the producers did this to eliminate any surface noise from the source material. But sense the source material was records you need to expect some surface noise, and to try and eliminate all of the surface noise is not good. Because the music becomes so compressed it starts to sound flat with no dynamic range at all. I understand these recordings are mono and not stereo, but there should be some amount of dynamic range to the sound. These recordings sound flat and lifeless.

    Therefore, I do not recommend that you buy this CD look else where.

        Ever since childhood, I've never been to much of a music person. It didn't interest me. I had my books, my cats, a swingset; since I had so may other hobbies, I didn't need music. Then as I grew older, I discovered acting and did it heavily since. Then I was becoming more aware of music as my brother gave me minor lessons on how to recognize one style of music from another, even when there within the same genre.

        One day, when I came home from school, my brother was raving about some musician he met on MySpace. Of course, I had a lot of homework, so I said good for you and wandered off, to do it in my room. I visited him later and he lent me the CD [this very CD in fact] and told me to listen to it. I took it in my room and listened to the CD. I fell in love with the music instantly. I recognized the style of piano Marina V uses and absolutely loved it. I took it back to my brother reluctantly and said I liked it. Then, as I was doing the dishes several days later, he got another one of Marina's CDs. I listened to it, and knew isntantly I coudn't live without the CDs. For my birthday, my brother gave me the two CDs. I was so happy, I felt as if I was floating on clouds. I immeadiately went to my room to listen to the sweet melody of Marina's voice.

        I've gotten far since I've gotten the CDs. I'm now actually interested in music and am taking Choir. I've rediscovered many musicians I would listen [sort of] to as a child. I've also discovered new ones. Marina has reopened the door of music to me.

        This CD is filled with many outstanding songs that express great emotion through the sound, not just the words. I must say, Compact Disc contains a lot of my favorite songs. Through my experience, I recommend it, highly.

        It's amazing how many emotions are brought out in Marina's music. She'll take you somewhere with one song, like the despair of "Killing My Dream," and before you have a chance to recover, you're going somewhere else, like the longing of "Ocean." The last track may become a modern Christmas classic.

        This cd really blew my mind. It's definitely "Adult" alternative. The lyrics that she and Nick write, describe the world through the eyes of someone who has been through alot of life experiences both good and bad. There's definitely a classical influence in the music itself. I would recommend this cd to anyone looking for something new and refreshing. My personal favorite song on the new cd is Ocean. Very relaxing.

        Marina's music is the best I've heard from a new and upcoming artist. "Something of My Own" is a beautiful album and a "must have" and would also make an excellent gift. With awesome songs such as "Something of My Own" "Falling" and "Ocean" who couldn't fall in love with Marina's wonderful music?

        "Something Of My Own" is a wonderful record with music that is equally as beautiful as the words. The buzz on this woman keeps getting louder and louder, and one listen to this album will show you why.
