In Vitro Tide
Editorial Reviews
Igloo magazine
"It won't be long until Surface 10 gains international recognition in the closely knit fabric of experimental music."
Grooves magazine
DeBenedictus certainly plays the game as well as any of the bigger names in ambient-leaning electronica.
Album Description
"In Vitro Tide" is nothing less than a pulsing, reckless tour de force of spiky, punchy beats welded and fused with white noise, grunge guitar, dislocated voices and a swaggering disregard for somnolent sine wave culture that permeates much of today's Electronica. With a glistening, extrovert production, the album is a cavalcade of ideas which fly off like sparks. The dense layers of texture are frequently parted to reveal astonishing knots of wry melody lurking deep beneath the surface of the album. Each track slides from one oeuvre to another in a dazzling, almost precocious attention to detail which offers much in the way of rewards for repeated listening.
In many ways this is the most adventurous release yet from DiN and shows that the label refuses to stand still in it's search for new and interesting forms of contemporary electronica.

Customer Reviews:
Surface 10 - 'In Vitro Tide' (Din).......2006-11-15
Never knew that Surface 10 (which is more of a project, than a band) had this many releases out. I first discovered Surface 10 from the tune they have on the label Cleopatra's 'Space Box' 3-CD box set(see my review). 'In Vitro Tide' is noted as Dean de Benedictus's second effort, but I know I've seen like maybe at least three other Surface 10 titles. This is really good techno. Tracks I was most impressed with were "This Will Sting", the somewhat funky "Service 10 Rendered", the rhythmic "Of My Efforts" and the 12-minute "Defrag Harvest Nocturn(DHN)". Line-up: Dean de Benedictus-mixing,Phil Williams-guitar,Curtis Davis-bass and John Wells-sampling. Just might appeal to fans of The Orb,808 State,Art Of Noise and possibly Kraftwerk.
Strange, hypnotic and great.......2006-04-07
I can't really describe what this is. It's electronic music. But that's all i can say.
Some songs start very ambient but then comes some heavy drum sounds and strange noises surrounds you. There are samples from movies here and there.
"Farewell Microscapes" is very hypnotic and relaxing. After that comes "Of My Efforts" with strange drum rhythms, a groovy bassline and jazzy melodies. This is just an example of how many styles there are on In Vitro Tide.
This is very experimental music. If you think the record you just bought sounds like something you already have, then you should try this....
