Customer Reviews:
MOSTLY THE COMPLETE PICTURE.......2004-11-11
Blondie is a band that you can never get tired of. Their music is done with style and creativity. I purchased this album and was excited because I thought it would be perfect. It is except some songs are shortened. "Island Of Lost Souls" is (3:50 sec), but the album version is (4:40 sec). It was hard to hear Debbie's voice on "Heart Of Glass". The very begining of "The Tide Is High" is sort of cut off. On the good side we get the (5:36 sec) version of "Rapture". Deb's solo work is great and "Well Did You Ever" is a pretty fun song. If your a fan of Blondie then buy this. It's ok.
Probably The Best.......2004-01-18
This is a must have album for any fan or music collector. The album has it all and it leaves nothing to chance. It also introduces the listener to some tracks of Debbie's from her solo albums as well (which I think a lot of people have really overlooked) So yes the album is a bit pricey but look at what you get. It's a good buy especailly here on Amazon where at the record shop I've seen it priced as high as 39.99 and you have to have it through a special order.
HITS, HITS, HITS AND MORE HITS!.......2004-01-06
Well c'mon. What more could you want? This is a glorious batch of singles that most artists would give their left thingie for. What a swell party this is!!
A COMPLETE PLEASURE.......2001-06-08
Blondie started out as a bunch of poppy punks, progressed into artpopdom and in the process became one of he biggest selling acts of the late 70s/early 80s. With Deborah Harry, the priginal blonde of pop, as frontperson and a repertoire of fluent, supercharged songs like Heart Of Glass, I'm Always Touched By Your Presence, Dear and Denis, they jostled for number one position with those other blond phenomena of the period: Abba and the Police. This album proves that Blondie have aged well. Other highlights include Sunday Girl, Picture This and Dreaming, which overshadow Harry's later solo material such as French Kissing In The USA. Not that she had lost her touch - her duet with Iggy Pop, Well, Did You Evah!, displays lots of streetsmart exuberance.
Down & Dirty Good.......2000-06-14
The Complete Picture is one of the best compilations I've ever heard. It's obvious that a lot of thought went into not only picking the tracks but also to the order in which they appear. This CD tells the story of an incredible band named Blondie -- and it doesn't leave out the "import parts." Complete Picture has both "French Kissin' in the USA" and "Island of Lost Souls." It has the surreal "Well, Did You Evah!." The sound quality is sharp and clear. This is one well-mastered CD.
Complete Picture has just about all of Blondie's best known songs. (The only glaring omission I can think of is "X Offender" and I'm probably the only person who likes it. Grin.)
If you're looking for a "best of" Blondie, you've found it. The Complete Picture is worth the extra cost. Buy it. You'll be glad you did.
