Niki Kwik

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Sure, she's cute, and yeah, she writes catchy tunes with hooks that stick in your head, but what really sets Niki apart from her contemporaries is that voice. She possesses not only a remarkable range and richness of tone, but an unusual appeal that is not easily described. "Whenever people meet me for the first time after hearing me sing, they always say the same thing, 'wow, you sound just like someone, but I can't think of who it is!', then they struggle to compare me to someone. I have been likened to, literally, every popular female vocalist of the past thirty years, whether I sound like them or not." In addition to writing all the songs on her current release, she also played all the instruments. Niki was born and raised in Detroit, and currently resides in suburban Phoenix.

I saw this gal in person and she sounds just the same as on her cd....HORRID!

Is there any wonder why this price has been reduced? I highly recommend this album, but only if you're hearing impaired. There should be a surgeon generals warning with this album stating listening to this album may cause nightmares. All proceeds for this album may be charitable donations to Niki's new vocal instructor.

3 out of 5 stars Flawed but shows great promise.......2003-02-17

Niki Kwik is a talented young Phoenix singer-songwriter in the acoustic rock vein. Her live performances are spirited and enjoyable, as is much of the material on this CD. Niki's voice is reminiscent of Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, her acoustic guitar playing is excellent and she writes catchy, tuneful songs. Unfortunately, this effort is seriously flawed by production errors, most significantly, the fact that Niki's guitar is noticeably out-of-tune for most of the recordings. This gets my rating bumped by two stars. I am sure, however, that Niki's next effort will be a significant improvement. This first disc will have to do in the meantime and will be an interesting collector's item if she manages to break out into widespread popularity, which her obvious talent warrants.
