Everything that Al Gromer Khan does is great, but this CD really stands out and is very hypnotic and trance producing. The CD is great for meditation or being with that special person. It ebbs and flows thoughout the CD. It has very interesing textures and riffs through out. An excellent CD on many levels

Great oldies for your next party........2006-08-10

Here's an excellent display for the Museum of Antique Beats. Californians had a sense of humor in this era of trance dance stuff, it was at times a strange, synthetic intersection of The Hollywood Argyles, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Martin Denny, & movie soundtrack music. Cantamilla is one of the few enduring masterpieces of the genre; Straight Up Caffeine grabs & never lets go with its buzzsaw bottom & shrieking tribal female up top; & you can come up with your own imaginary film for the moody Theme from Daisy Glow. They're all lotsa fun. Great oldies for your next party.

Tracks 1, 3, 5, and 8 are delicious and the rest of it is quite tasty too. Bought it back in 1994 just before I went to university and even my Skynard, Creedence et al-listening bumpkin of a roommate appreciated its mystical and melifluous qualities.

The greatest CD ever!!.......2004-04-15

I first bought this CD when it was released in 1993. Since then I've listened to it so many times that it started skipping due to its deterioration. So I came to amazon to buy it again. If you like the west coast club music of the early 90's you will love this CD. This CD is one of the greatest. I hope you like it as much as I have all these years.

This is an interesting compilation on a couple of accounts - the music is chosen not at random (like a lot of compilations out there), but with a basic premise in mind. A majority of the tunes on here, while they may be considered a very light Trance, are part of a burgeoning new genre called Chillout. Chillout Trance has been popular for quite a few years in destinations such as Ibiza, and Belize. These are the tunes the DJ will spin beginning right before sunrise. These are EXCELLENT when you want to hear music after getting home from the club, but regular techno and trance would be too much.

Another interesting thing about this compilation, is that it is marketed by K-Tel. (Yes, I said K-Tel, that horrid company that used to throw together compilations around Christmastime and blanket the airwaves with their awful commercials to get rid of them).

There are two CD's: One is Chillout music - this is a very good disk, with very carefully chosen tunes. The only problem is, they chose the radio edits of most tunes, or they faded out the tunes when they hit 3-4-5 minutes in length. This is not a bad thing, but it's not exactly great either. The second CD is entitled Techno, but rest assured it is techno LIGHT. Some interesting tunes here too, but again, bad fade outs - which means that they were taking these cuts from extended remixes, but giving you only radio-edit times on them. Some of the fades are less than professional - they just sort of cut out.

You are also given a DVD with chillout tunes and some interesting visuals. Both the visuals and the sound quality of the DVD is excellent. All together, for a DVD and a double CD set - this is an excellent value, and the main Chillout CD will get a lot of use, guaranteed. It is a pleasure to get a compilation of mostly all good tunes. There is only 2-3 cuts that are not of the quality as the rest of the CD. This whole set I would give five stars, for the good cuts and the excellent value. The negative, of course, is their own edits, some of which are less than professional.
