Album Description
Beard Bates' first solo record, Lightyear's Tightrope, is an eclectic album of breadth and variance. Empassioned ethereal jaunty-dirges, as are mildly reminiscent of Beard's JilFlirter days; instrumental trance and particalized sequenced tracks; closet bluegrass; an elderly English woman falsetto elegy of light mourning; a sitar diseased percussion track of intense layered rhythm; love songs conferring an ambiguous and enigmatic recipient of love; a sonic poem; songs created around environs; plus brief micro-cassette prophecies from 1995......This panoply of genres and textures creates a unique listening experience: one in which emotions are piqued and vacillated, one in which tears of joy turn to those of sorrow and yet soon fall to the floor over which one can dance, and slide one's feet, with ease.
