5 out of 5 stars Underated.......2005-01-03

its simply ridiculous that these guys arent as big and arent ibgger than many of the other pop/punk bands in the scene. I cannot wait for their new CD to come out this year (2005)!!!

please buy this CD and tell your friends about it!!!

sure, these guys may not be musical giants, but if you want music to have a good time to, but still better than your average good charlotte, then listen to this and buy it!!!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliance.......2004-01-20

Well I dont know why but Useless ID have got to be one of the most underrated bands i know, why they aren't at least as famous the ataris I will never know. You keep seeing bands like Good Charlotte gracing our screens and allthough they have a lot of fans they aren't real music(no offence to any Good Charlotte fans). Useless id are real pop-punk and this CD just proves it, they have gone for the pretty much same formula as with their first album and it works well. What I like about useless id is the fact that all their songs don't sound the same, instead every song has its own identity and they aren't afraid to use acoustics in probably the best song on the album Diary. My favourites of this album Unhappy Hour, Birthday Song, Weird Rock,Diary, At least I tried, End. Special mentions to Bring me down and The worst holiday I've every had. BUY IT!!!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing melodic punk love songs.......2003-02-25

Following the same successful formula of their last album, "Bad Story, Happy Ending," Useless ID puts out another record that flies by and sings to the ears. If you are a fan of fast paced melodic punk songs about love, you will love this cd. If you liked their last cd, you will definitely like this one. "No Vacation..." follows the same patterns of their last cd, but without being tiresome and redundant. As good as their last cd was, this is a definite improvement. Yokam's (lead singer)voice has matured and creates some amazing harmonies with the all important punk "whoa oh's" in the background on many songs. In the same spirit of the Ataris, and much more talented than other rip-off pop bands such as Simple Plan who attempt to follow the same formula and sell it to the MTV crowd at the same time, this is an amazing record that you will play over and over.

5 out of 5 stars good pop punk.......2003-02-17

great melodies
despite what some reviews may say this album is awesome
currently my favorites are
"same story, someone new"
and "jukebox 86"

5 out of 5 stars Nothing useless in the new useless ID album.......2003-02-11

This album starts off great with the sound of southern cali pop punk!( I said pop and punk in the same sentence!) lyrics are great and anyone can relate to them. The musical notes are all clean and pulled off well while having the same O.G. sound you have grown to love about useless ID. Get the album it's great and great to add to any collection of music.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Johnette Downing's Silly Sing Along.......2001-12-21

"Silly Sing Along" is full of the zest and zaniness that makes Johnette Downing so popular with her young audiences. The fun-filled CD is interspersed with Johnette's original songs as well as traditionals that capture her delightful personality. Johnette starts the funfest with "Pajama Party" and segues into an high-energy rendition of the traditional "Do Your Ears Hang Low?". "Grandpa's Beard" is a tune that completely captivates the imagination - a beard used as a rug and filled with sparrows! This CD will definitely have kids singing along, and jumping along, and banana splitting along, and wiggling along... And just like "Bubble Gum", kids everywhere will be stuck to Johnette's newest must-have - "Silly Sing Along"!

4 out of 5 stars An excellent introduction to artists you've never heard of.......2003-09-04

I bought the disc primarily to hear Angela McClusky, and she is excellent. I discovered, however, the rest of the disc was also worth listening to. Sex Junkie (Lava Baby) is particularly addictive, leading me to buy the CD.

I recommend the CD to anyone who likes a good variety of music.

Album Description

Announced March 2002, this CD is a Parents' Choice 2002 GOLD Award Winner! Reviewed in the May issue of Parenting Magazine, "Symphony Shine Time!" will capture the hearts of children, parents and educators alike as we Sing! Move! Imagine! Identical twins Linda Sebenius and Lisa Cole which make up IDENTICAL HARMONY, are joined by the amazing sounds of the internationally known touring brass group, the Canadian Brass, musicians of the Seattle Symphony, and a children's choir of the highest caliber.

The listener is guided through a tapestry of original songs and classic compositions while we learn about the brass family and the symphony. Musical concepts of fast and slow are presented joyfully when we meet, and move with Presto the Porpoise and Largo the Tortoise, and as we listen to the Flight of the Bumblebee and the Swan. This CD is superb at allowing the child to take flights of imagination with friendly characters that build a sense of fast and slow, which then connect these to fast and slow classical litature.

The song "Best in One Another" represents IDENTICAL HARMONY's commitment to speaking to the element of goodness in each and every one of us. The 12-page CD Booklet gives the consumer many tools for additional fun and learning.

The combined talents of these amazing twins as composers, singers (their identical twin harmonies,... wow!), Linda as the orchestrator, Lisa as the narrator, and their unique ability to produce a product with such entertaining and educational qualities is sure to make an impact on listeners for years to come.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A Unique and Wonderful CD.......2002-09-13

What a terrific CD. My two-year old daughter has been listening to Symphony Shine Time: Focus on the Brass for over two months now and she still asks for it EVERY DAY. We need to buy another copy so we can keep one in the car and one in the house. The introduction to the symphony and simple musical concepts are effective and entertaining, but more important to this toddler-driven household, the music and singing are wonderful, catchy, sweet, memorable and soothing. It truly feels like a musical journey and my daughter cannot get enough of it. Her enthusiasm for it is unfailing as she earnestly sings along to every word and hums every horn riff. Even my husband, a jaded jazz musician and less than enthusiastic children's-music fan, admits he enjoys and appreciates the merits of this lovely collection of songs and concepts.

5 out of 5 stars Great Musical Collection - Highly Recommended.......2001-10-21

This CD is not only a wonderful introduction to the brass family of an orchestra, it's a lovely collection of musical melodies and arrangements that are a pleasure to hear. There are several interesting ideas on the accompanying booklet for related activities to do with children during each of the songs. It's an opportunity to spend time together, singing, clapping, moving, dancing, and imagining.

I have been fortunate to know Miss Linda, of Identical Harmony, for the last several years, through Kindermusik classes for my two young children. I have also seen Identical Harmony perform at different venues, including the Seattle Symphony's wonderful "Tiny Tots" program, at Benaroya Hall. My experience with Miss Linda and Identical Harmony has always been first-rate; their gifts as musicians and as nurturers of young children is really remarkable.

Both my 7-year-old daughter and 18-month-old son loved the CD, and became very engaged with the music, listening to it the very first time.

I have purchased several CDs for children in the past, and "Symphony Shine Time" is truly unique. I highly recommend it.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A Classic Children's CD.......2004-05-04

This recording is one of my children's favorite. Yes, the narrator's voice is different, but so what? These traditional stories have great humanity. And I love listening to them as much as my children. The music is pleasing for all generations. While these are "magical tales" there is no oversimlification; you feel as if the family is siting at the knees of the local story teller. It's wondeful.

1 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT : WASTED MONEY.......2004-04-28

I am going to be blunt, because I am SO disappointed. This truly is out of character for me, but I want to make it clear...

One major reason this is disaster is due to the NARRATOR'S HORRIBLE VOICE. If I'm going to listen to a reading, it should sound pleasant to the ears, not screechy and irritating. I assume she is also the singer, and luckily that is an improvement.

The first story, like many "fairy tales", includes the usual flawed or irresponsible parent, but this one is the main character and she chooses to neglect her self-labeled "bratty" children from the beginning. I'm sure this must be the author's idea of humor (?), but it makes it hard to have sympathy/empathy for her as the main character. She leaves her children by themselves overnight and gets distracted (only for 100 years) by the fairies in the forest. She finally learns her lesson and manages to go back 100 years to raise her "bratty" children. OH BUT THAT'S NOT THE END! She has her great grandaughter help her cheat death and play with the fairies for eternity? AFTER THE STORY FINALLY ENDS...there is a musical version of the entire tale. WHY BOTH? -- the musical version was at least mildly tolerable (even though I still feel the story itself is poor)--

I enjoy reading fairy tales and stories about fairies to my daughters; usually I use flawed characters as a teaching point, but there is nothing to learn from this story that you couldn't get in much nicer literature or music.

I DEEPLY regret buying an inappropriate bunch of stories for my girls.

5 out of 5 stars My girls love it!.......2003-02-14

My two girls (4 and 2) love this CD! They dress up in princess and ballerina costumes and dance around. The songs and stories are very entertaining. One of the better children CDs I've bought in a while.

The second recording for children from Jim Cosgrove is a collection of twelve catchy tunes - including ten originals - that span a broad musical spectrum. You get a little reggae with Anger Bug, some Cajun spice on No More Cryin Tonight, a hoe-down reel on Frog in the Bog, and a dose of preschool angst in Goin to Bed Early Blues.

5 out of 5 stars "Mommy...Stinky Feet!!!".......2005-01-05

At bedtime my 2 year old picks the music she wants to listen to...she says "Mommy...Stinky Feet!!!" She knows all the words to the first 3 songs and we sing them several times a day... Thanks to her 'Aunt Linnette' in Kansas City for first introducing us to Jim Cosgrove and 'Stinky Feet' - we now have his other CDs also! He truly does remember what it is like to be a kid!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!.......2003-08-25

My kids are some of Jim Cosgrove's biggest fans. This is a guy who remembers what it's like to be a kid. His songs are playful, creative and upbeat and leave you singing and dancing all day. He's the kind of guy you wish you could have for a kindergarten teacher. His music is just plain fun. I strongly encourage everyone to buy all four CDs. You'll be thrilled. (Oh, and look for his Christmas 2003 CD!)
