A good live batch of most of their best songs........2003-02-27

The playlist is recorded from several dates in 1999, and yields a very "efficient" set. There's hardly any banter or pandering to the crowd; the music does the talking. Using a passage from Holst's "The Planets" provides a humorous, WWF-style beginning. If you've heard Mission U.K. before, these cuts sound much like the album versions. The audience is mixed pretty low, and the onstage mixing is clean as a whistle.

Hussey's acoustic cover of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling in Love" is smooth and simple. (If you're new to Mission U.K.: Hussey and Craig Adams were in Sisters of Mercy. This band keeps some of that early sound, with some U2 stylings.) "1969" sounds like the band is channeling Iggy Pop and The Stooges. "Crazy Horses" is a good finale with strong Led Zeppelin appeal.

It's a good buy for completists, and a decent introduction to the less "epic," more upbeat side of Mission U.K.'s music.
