With Everything's Alright Forever, England's Boo Radleys meld their psychedelic guitar sound with oblique pop melodies and dense studio accouterments. Featuring the introspective songwriting of guitarist Martin Carr, the Radleys' mercurial sound shifts through a variety of styles. From the stately flügelhorn on "Spaniard" to the jazzy pop moments of "I Feel Nothing," the group displays a powerful sense of dynamics that puts it in the same class as Manchester shoegazers like the Charlatans UK or the Stone Roses. On "Room at the Top," the band emits a scorching wall of feedback over a strangely muted vocal chant. While not exactly the premier psychedelic ensemble to emerge from England during the early '90s, the Boo Radleys definitely made their mark with this release. --Mitch Myers

Don't fear these Boo Radleys!.......2007-03-09
What an awesome disk! I still remember putting this one in my cd changer for the first time and hearing something unlike I'd ever heard before. I know the washed out guitars and vocals will be compared to My Bloody Valentine and the like, but this album has something its very own. It's got adventure, melody, dissonance back to melody, and all kinds of unusual twists and turns. Although it takes you on a frenetic ride; it all seems to coalesce to make a single statement. What an awesome disk!
Boo's Best.......2006-03-14
One of the most brilliant shoegaze/noise-pop album ever, and certainly the Boo's best effort, despite what the professional critics say. They got a little too cute on their next too albums, but on this one monster hooks, wall-of-sound guitars, blissed-out burst of fuzz and feedback, and melodies worthy of the best of 1960s AM pop make for one of the best pop albums I've ever heard. If you like what some moronic Britcrit called "shoegaze" you'll love this.
The Boos at their noisy best!.......2005-07-27
The Boo Radleys have always been a much under-rated band and that record is usually considered as second fiddle in the Boo's catalog even amomg true fans of the band. What a shame!
For me, it ranks among the best noisy-pop albums of the 90s.
It's mind-blowing; Forget about Giant Steps or Kingsize - here the Boos master their wall-of-sound better than ever.
Everything is more than just alright..........2005-07-07
I have taken a lot of time to take this album in. It has held me speechless with it's unique approaches to loud, abrasive rock music, it is always volatile and noisy, yet serene and beautiful at the same time.
You see, the Boo Radleys created a timeless sounding album with "Everything's Allright Forever." They were one of the first bands to take psychedelic british rock music and couple it with unique pop music flourishes. Opener "Spaniard" erupts into stately spanish-style horn while MBV guitars roar in the background. Reviewers have described the production of this album as "sonic shading" and that is nothing but the truth. Each song has layers of guitarwork with infinite and fresh sounding effects.
Songwriter Martin Carr was able to incorporate so many cool sounds into the traditional shoegaze approach, it is amazing.
"I Feel Nothing" uses acoustic jazz chords before erupting into feedback. "Paradise" utilizes an amazing midsection breakdown of spacey guitar drones which pulse all the way off the speakers. Perhaps "Paradise" is a good example of Carr's excellent use of atmospherics, guitars sound loud, but are mixed in the distance, giving the album an open, spacey vibe.
Songs like "Sparrow" turn things down a bit, while rockers like "Skyscraper" "Firesky" and "Lazy Day" all take distortion to new levels. All of the songs are perfect, and alright forever. A timeless guitar classic.
I also recommend "Learning To Walk", a collection of earlier EPs, if you happen to really enjoy this album.
better than loveless.......2005-03-20
This album is awesome. It takes the shoegaze guitars and adds pop hooks along with just guitar feedback much like mbv. I enjoy it much better than any other album from this genere or shoegaze era. Listen to "Lazy day" and tell me that isn't brilliant.

All groups should be this generous.......2005-05-18
If you are on this page reading this review, then you already know that the Boo Radleys left behind enough b-sides and non-album tracks to sink an aircraft carrier. This EP entitled Boo! Forever (we better not ask why) contains a single from their album Everything's Alright Forever, Does This Hurt?, and three non-album tracks. They are all good.
If you know and/or like Everything's Alight Forever, you will enjoy this EP very much. The first three songs perfectly mirror the shoegazing noise they were coming close to perfecting in 1992 (they were to enventually abondon this endeavor). Sunfly II: Walk With The Kings, the EP's clincher, takes an ever weirder twist of the fomula considering the drums sound more tribal and the music sounds like acoustic guitars are merging with techno beats.
This CD may be short, but it's a splendid companion to Everything's Alright Forever. Just go ahead and find it already.
Two great exclusive tracks here.......2000-11-12
Does This Hurt was one of the standouts of Everything's Alright Forever, with its hazy yet faintly techno inspired vibe which of course oved a bit to My Bloody Valentine. BUt the final track, with tis fast and dancable rhytms, is even better, a great simple yet memorbale tune. Boo! Forever is a slow and gentle track, not as urgent as the title suggests. Althought the other track (Buffalo Bill) isn't as good as the rest, this is a good buy for Boo Radleys completionists.

A Shoegazer Masterpiece.......2003-08-08
This album is absolutely beautiful. I'm a huge fan of shoegazer and consider this almost as good as My Bloody Valentine's undisputed masterpiece "Loveless". Why it is so unrecognized is completely beyond me. A number of songs come to mind as being the epitome of the shimmering beauty and fuzz feedback the movement was known for. They remind me a little of Grandaddy in that some of the songs will suddenly shift melody and structure mid-song into something new and different. I'm not even a Boo Radleys fan to be honest. Their later output really turned me off as they veered into more generic pop (though you should check out a song of theirs called "Rodney King" off their next album. Its one of the best songs of the 90's). If you like My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Slowdive, etc then there is no reason you should not own this. This is arguably in the top 3 of the era. Buy it now and bask in its beauty. If you like this you should also check out Medicine's "Shot Forth Self Living" one of my other favorite albums of the era.
perfect noise, no complaints here!.......2000-10-11
what is it with the other reviewers? this album is excellent! it is the perfect album to play in one sitting, or driving in a car or anywhere. the songs are short (generally) and catchy and yes, very noisy! they sound nothing at all like radiohead or the beta band. i do like the beta band, but i can not agree with the reviewer who thinks they are similar.how on earth did you get that comparison? it could be more compared to a garage band doing my bloody valentine covers, at least! this album has neat sounds ( studio chatter, etc.) left in the mix, and makes for some interesting stuff at high volumes. i think this is basically brit pop with an edge- not crap like travis ( ugghh, they really suck! ) or some other crap that "indeots" like...just buy this album, your money will not be wasted...my favorite song on it?. would have to be " does this hurt?"...the same question i ask of you when you hear it...
Boo Radleys get mellow and spacey.......2000-06-12
This album takes a few listens to get into. Actually, it takes a few _playings_ to get into, since it's not the kind of music one usually chooses to sit down and listen to. Consisting mostly of long stretches of walls of guitar sound, it paints more of a sonic picture ala Radiohead or Beta Band. Weaved into this wall, however, is a surpriding and delightful amount of texture and variety, and some genuinely catchy tunes.
The vocals are mixed (appropriately) very low, which at first irritated me. Later I understood the band's intent better, and now that doesn't bother me at all. For those already familiar with the band, this CD is their least bouncy-pop sounding, and easily the mellowest. It's also my favorite of theirs.
The Boo Radley's all over.......2000-06-10
This CD is good and has the definate Boo Radley's sound. Lazy Day is areally good song on this CD and Paradise is litterally amazing. The whole CD is paradise. Memory Babe is without a doubt the highlight of the CD with pumping chords and a really good, "sing a long" sound. I have given this CD a low rateing because i feel that the Boo Radley's could do better and have done better but compared to other bands it is 5 stars!
