Although Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley dropped off the radar following 1995's Alice in Chains, it's amazing how good he sounds on 1998's "Get Born Again," the one new track on this 15-song best-of outing. Sounding like a Dirt-era offering, the band's trademark dirgeful sound and melodic, layered, and haunting vocals shine on this strong Staley-Cantrell composition. And there's other interesting material that makes Nothing Safe a safe bet for fans. A demo of "We Die Young" is faster and more metal than the version on 1990's Facelift, while a live "Rooster," lilting "Got Me Wrong" (from Unplugged) and "What Hell Have I" from the Last Action Hero soundtrack are all eminently listenable. --Katherine Turman --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

It's no wonder Alice In Chains titled this CD nothing safe...it's jam packed with all their best songs from track one to track seventeen. This is one CD that I'm glad I didn't overlook.

Great CD - Best.......2000-06-22

This really was a great CD and if you dont have all of their albums, especially DIRT, i suggest you get it. If you are a fan but dont have any albums, i HIGHLY suggest you buy this.

Any alice in chains fan, to whatever degree, would definitely love to own this album.

The best track, and my favorite song, is THEM BONES. Great CD AND I URGE YOU TO BUY IT.

This CD is well worth the money you pay for it, let me start off by saying that. Some of Alice in Chain's greatest songs on one easy to carry, attractive looking disc! Plus it's an import for all you hardcore collectors like me! I would seriously buy this again just for the live version of Rooster on it...but there are so many more of their excellent songs on it...go buy this, NOW!

p.s If you want to hear some of THE best acoustical work from Jerry Cantrell and some of THE greatest, moody lyrical work from Layne Staley, get this CD and get the added bonus of having it on just ONE CD!
