About the Artist
Meet Hardnox. That's us. Hardnox consists of Dan Kehoe age 22, and Jim Kehoe age 20. Two brothers from Concord, California. Since childhood, we have been fascinated with music, recording and the process that goes into making hit records. No, not the little bedroom studio that consists of a drum machine and a downloaded program that loops samples. We're talking the works. The same gear that has been used on countless hit records. While being DJ's on the weekends we fill our weeks with school and studio work. We have assembled a list of clients and projects ranging from the NFL, NBA, music video dancers, Channel 7 ABC, to projects such as Dan Marino's retirement halftime show held in Pro Player stadium on ESPN. All of this while operating under our own production company (Hardnox Productions). We write, produce, arrange, record, engineer, and mix all our music ourselves, at our studio appropriately named "The Head Bop Shop" in Concord, California. The current album, which is our debut, is titled "Just Us." Although we are fans of many of the artists today, our music goes against the grain. We don't feel that we fit into current trends and have a desire to hear something different. "Is Hardnox the Messiah and savior of the uninteresting trends in music?" Who knows, we're not the judges of that. We just make music, and rock crowds. Hardnox's sound is based on a hip-hop foundation but differs from conventional modern hip-hop in a few ways. We layer more electronic and rock style elements through our music creating a more "full" and "heavier sound." Our lyrical style is not as angry as much of today's hip-hop, yet it is still aggressive. Let's get something straight here. We are fans of much of the hip-hop today. We help make these records hits as DJs we're just talking about where we differ, not necessarily disagree. Our lyrics stem from the common person's experiences, not some lavish fantasy life. Songs like "Tha Beater" take the hip-hop cliche of fancy cars and turn it around to glorify the run-down car that is the only thing most young people can afford to drive. Our lyrical messages switch from the in-your-face to the subliminal, "what exactly do they mean by that?" In 2001, a music critique on VH1 said, "Kids can't be shocked anymore. Everything has been said and done. The way to shock is to flip it back around on them." We like to base our lyrics on the practical stories, joys, pains, emotions and questions that we and many other people experience in life. Not just young people, but human beings. Our music is not set out to make someone feel, "I must do this or have this to fit in or be considered worthy of acceptance." We are about taking control of life and not letting the things that we can't control paralyze us from happiness and a feeling of success. We are being "Just Us" and hope that we can motivate others to feel confident and pleased enough with themselves to be themselves. "Just Us" is being released independently by Hardnox Productions (our label/production company) in mid summer 2002. We will not sit on the debut for long. The follow-up will be released late winter/early spring of 2003. Hardnox will not go away.
Album Description
Sonically and lyrically against the grain of conventional hip-hop. "Hardnox breathes much-needed new life into the stagnating waters of hip-hop with their latest Just Us release. In a fresh style that blends traditional hip-hop with rock and techno elements, Dan and Jim hit the point and give honest social commentary over and over again with raps and great beats on Tha Beater and Are All The Ladies Gone? but don't forget to have a good time in songs like Once We Drop and We Don't Suck
"
"The fact that they wrote, performed, produced, engineered and mixed the entire record not only adds to the commitment and talent they bring to the project - it guarantees them a growing success in the future as they continue to explore and redefine the boundaries of hip-hop."
--Gary Cirimelli (Grammy Nominated Producer & Engineer. Credits include: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Boyz II Men, Train, Journey, Sony Theatres, Sega Music Group, CBS Televison)

Instruments of the Orchestra - Great Reference Material!.......2007-04-04
This set lends itself to greatly enhancing one's knowledge of the orchestra, instruments in it, and their usage. I am a huge music buff, and I still picked up a great deal I previously did not know. I highly recommend this for all who wish to understand the origin of music, as well as the processes that are employed to create music!
Beginner or Expert.......2007-03-12
This CD is excellent for the beginner or expert! To be able to haear the instrumets separately and then together really provides a good education. and/or refresher. The book thaty comes with the CD is alomost worth the price by itself!
Very Informative and Enjoyable.......2006-11-20
Whether you're a music novice or pro, "The instruments of the Orchestra" is a very worthwhile purchase. The 7 CDs, with a total of 8 hours, are expertly narrated by Jeremy Siepmann. He's a great speaker, very much like the late Leonard Bernstein was. Mr. Siepmann takes you on an unforgetable musical journey covering the origins and use of the various orchestral instruments throughout musical history. The balance between his narration and a wealth of musical examples, which range from snippets to entire movements, is superb. The comprehensive enclosed booklet is excellent and faithfully follows the 7 CDs in content. Even with my 40+ years of music training I still learned new things from this wonderful collection. Considering the excellence of the content, and a cost that translates to about $5 per disc, this collection is a great value. Grab it, you won't regret that you did. Five solid stars!
Frank's view.......2006-08-19
This boxed set of CD's with booklet achieved all I had hoped that it would. There are good samples of individual instruments and well done commentary on each. The only drawback was that some of the samples were too brief and could have been longer, hoiwever I guess this fits in with time constraints of the medium. It has given me a lot of clues as to future purchases of CD's for listening to individual instruments. Altogeth a satisfactory purchase and a welcome addition to my collection.
Excellent Intro for Those Not Familiar with the Orchestra.......2003-11-08
I've listened to classical music for years and am interested in composition. I bought this CD set to learn how an orchestra and its instruments work. I thought the CDs would be a nice but boring lecture. They aren't! Not only are they FUN but they are informative as well. I learned a huge amount from each CD and couldn't wait to listen to the next one.
The narrator and writer is a great speaker and holds your attention well. He is definitely knowledgeable. He provides musical examples for each point he makes, so you get to "hear" what he just talked about. I'd say the CDs are about 65% music and 35% narration. You'll learn about the range of instruments, some history, different ways to play them, how they sound, and how they are used in the orchestra. This CD set was a great learning experience and is sold at such a low price!
I recommend this CD for those who want to learn about classical music and those who know about it but are interested in learning more about the inner workings of an orchestra. You'll learn much useful information. For instance, the Rite of Spring (with that eerie start) is written for bassoon! I never knew a bassoon could sound like that but now I do.
The one complaint I have is the last CD. This deals with the orchestra. I wanted more of a tour of how the orchestra has been used through history up to the present. Instead, it was a tour of how different groups of instruments sound. I thought it could have been better. The other 6 CDs are excellent.

Need more evidence of the record industry's obsession with youth? Consider that budding Welsh diva Charlotte Church was a ripe, old 16 when this, her first greatest-hits anthology was released. Spanning her first four releases, as well as some outside collaborations and unreleased material, this 18-track collection underscores the soprano's seemingly boundless potential--as well as some potential career obstacles ahead. Her crystalline, still-maturing voice is best showcased on classically oriented works like Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu," Franck's "Panis Angelicus," and her now-ubiquitous rendering of Delibes' "Flower Duet." She also excels on folk traditionals such as "She Moved Through the Fair" and "My Langan Love." But overwrought productions like the already-dated "Dream a Dream" and "Habanera," a faux-flamenco take on Bizet, nearly get the best of her. Still, her promising duet with fellow young phenom Josh Groban on "The Prayer" and her mature, dreamy reading of A Beautiful Mind's "All Love Can Be," as well as strong performances on the previously unreleased "It's the Heart That Matters Most" and "Bridge over Troubled Waters," are ample evidence of her potential for rewarding pop crossover--if she doesn't retire by 21. --Jerry McCulley

A Beautiful, Relaxing Project.......2007-06-15
My only other experience with Charlotte Church was seeing part of a PBS special on her, where she sang songs like "Some Enchanted Evening". I actually enjoy her voice on this style of music.
I love her rendition of "Amazing Grace". She also did good on covering "Bridge Over Troubled Water", though I was disappointed she didn't try the high note on the verses as Garfunkel did. My favorite on the project was "It's the Heart That Matters Most".
If I want some beautiful sounding music to relax to while I'm working, this would be a very good project for that.
It just cannot be the end for Charlotte's classical career! :(.......2006-08-20
I'm just shocked that Charlotte has decided to end her classical career with this mediocre assortment of her most loved pieces from her other albums! I wish that she had re-sung all of the pieces to make them sound better than ever with her mature voice! To me, it seems disgusting that anyone would want to end their career with a last album that sounds the way this album does!
Her beginning pieces (Pie Jesu, My Lagan Love, In Trutina, Panis Angelicus, and Amazing Grace) were sung at the beginning of her classical career, and you can hear her flat vowels and shaky low notes. You can also hear it in "She Moved Thru the Fair". It's really annoying!
La Pastorella is a beautiful song to sing, and Church masters it beautifully! Just Wave Hello - the Ford Anthem, is also a beautiful piece, with amazing work from the orchestra.
Ave Maria is a complete annoyance! Church lays on the high notes too much, putting too much emphasis on them, and it's an annoyance! Her vowels are also flat on the high notes - I just hate it!
Dream a Dream is a very nice piece, leaning more towards the pop scene. Church still seems to make it work, and I would listen to it all day!
The Flower Duet is a beautiful song, but Church's vocals are strained, which makes it hard to listen to with a smile on your face! It's still beautiful!
The Prayer (w/ Josh Groban) is a very nice piece, originally sung by Celine Dion. She's still a little bit flat here!
All That Love can Be is sung beautifully, completely smooth and connected. The vocals are flawless and have a mezmerizing effect.
It's the Heart that Knows is a pop piece that Church sings with strong vocals. It's just showing us that she's ending her career as a classical superstar!
Tantum Ergo, Bridge Over Troubled Water, and Sancta Maria, are all beautiful pieces!
I am a Charlotte Chruch fan, no doubt, but I really didn't like this album! I still wish that she would stay with opera, but I guess dreams don't come true! I wouldn't advise you to buy this CD - but as long as you have Voice of an Angel, Charlotte Church (the Self Titled Album) and Enchantment, there's no need for this CD!
Sorry Charlotte!
Charlotte Church.......2006-07-29
Love that voice!! This is a great CD and any one who had not heard this young lady sing should buy it and prepare for some musical enjoyment.
Somewhat decent but still mediocre.......2006-06-07
I am well aware of Charlotte's age. However, I am also aware of her amazing vocals and powerful range. But these things don't make you a good singer. Charlotte chose to stick to opera in most of her songs. And face it, not just anyone can do opera.
Charlotte's voice is very well trained - maybe too trained. From a very young age she's been hitting the same notes as Sarah Brightman. But I feel that Charlotte's over-worked and not to mention overdone voice has been declining tremendously.
But I guess none of this really matters now because I haven't heard her do anything classical for a while. If you want to listen to Charlotte now, go find the song 'Crazy Chick.'
If you want to listen to other angel voiced sopranos, I'd go with Sarah Brightman or Renee' Fleming.
R&B For Charlotte .......2006-05-07
If a bird can be annoying as in a Rooster Crowing in the morning, some people will like it. A dog can bark in the nights we sleep, some People will like it. A human voice so light, so vibrated within their own dimensions, people will like it, but not I. I never really saw the beauty of opera, agitating to the ears, just like a Rooster calling on it's hens. With that said, Charlotte needs to turn to Blues Rock or R&B. Yes, Boogie style Blues Rock, she has the voice for it. No matter how many here perceive Opera or know what should sound good, no opera singer could ever sing Blues without a voice and a heart for it. Not One! So why should a girl with soulful music embedded in her, do the same? I say, "it's time to really Rock Charlotte!"

Rollicking Rockin' Raiders!.......2007-07-19
WE WANT "WHERE THE ACTION IS" & "HAPPENING 67/68/69/& 70" ON DVD SO GET DCP & ABC TO RELEASE THESE! Anyway: Steppin' Out jams! A remake of I'll Be Doggone, a fun tune called Outta Site/then a remake: Baby Please Don't Go/An instro(remake) of Night Train. S.2 has Just Like Me(sans back up)Then a remake of Dylan's Catch the Wind. A terrific remake of Satisfaction! Then a redo of I'm Crying. Paul blares out the remake of New Orleans & then the short & sweet ACTION Theme song. Confidentially, I believe these redos are some of the BEST & it'll take you back to a simpler time which I wish would return! BTW: the CD has added trax: Ride Your Pony/Just Like Me(45) & B.F.D.R.F. Blues not what Amazon wrote! A B side 45.
Where the Action Is.......2007-05-13
Although "Where the Action Is" episodes have not been released on DVD, Just Like Us captures the energy and enthusiasm of the band that made the TV show a hit for over two years. Sometimes known as the classic group of Raiders, Paul, Mark, Fang, Drake and Smitty all shared in the vocals and writing of the original tunes. They also do some fantastic covers like they would perform on the "Where the Action Is" TV shows. So, until the TV show is released in DVD, I highly recommend this album while you are awaiting by the DVD bins in the department stores.
Just Like Me to Rave About This Collection!.......2006-02-20
Gear up that 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 and cruise past the cool garage in the Pacific Northwest where Paul Revere & the Raiders launched their cool career. This is an excellent collection of classics and cover versions of other classics and 60s hounds will undoubtedly love it.
The Raiders' heyday of 1965-1967 ran alongside that of other cool garage bands that made it big such as the Sonics with their runaway train, "Have Love Will Travel." Their Pacific Northwestern Peers, the Sonics and the Raiders will certainly have you wanting to jump into your very cool 1965 Dodge Coronet with your satellite set to the Cool Oldies. You will love Drake's incredible guitar style; the folk influence in songs such as "Catch the Wind" and the high powered rock that was a staple in 60s garage band music. You will probably start to dance when you hear "Just Like Me," a 1965 gem that is well loved to this day.
Yes, you do want this collection of timeless classics and you will certainly be glad you have it. Now get that Coronet ready with your cool dial set to songs like this! I just love this collection!

This is truly a 60's Rock album which you just have to love!! It includes their hit singles Steppin Out and Just like Me!! I have always said that the song Just Like Me!! really shows off Mark Lindsay's unbelieveable voice!! The Album also includes the title song from their 1960's tv show Where The Action Is!!!
Every Song on this album is truly a good song to listen to!! This is one of the Raiders top albums!! Tom
Goin' To A GO GO.......2002-11-28
Paul Revere and The Raiders...What can I say. These guys still rock. I saw Paul about 2 years ago in Shreveport and Mark Lindsay just this year (2002). Still rockin'. Just Like Us is the most energetic, fun classic party rock album I have ever heard. This is the best!

Best Norman Brown to Date.......2006-03-13
Every song on this album commands your listening.
It is one of the few albums by anyone that every cut is a hit!
VERY GOOD!.......2005-11-07
After seeing him in concert more then once and meeting him I can truly say Norman is the next closest to George Benson as you can get and this CD is very good my favorite track is Loves Holiday!
Just Between Us.......2005-02-05
Good debut CD. I was a few years late in getting into Norman Brown. A few years after he released this I copped this, and throughly enjoyed it. Fav cuts, the title cuts, and the remake of too high(with Stevie) I got all his CD's, and along wth Ronny Jordan, is my Fav artist in this genre.
GREAT GUITARIST......and not to mention very handsome.......2005-01-04
I simply love Norman Brown, I have to say that he is a an exceptional guitarist. Just between us is my absolutely favorite track, its one of those songs that you sip your Merlot to after a long hard day at the office. I also enjoy listening to his other CD, Just Chillin....that whole CD is dedicated to myself because it captures my moods on so many levels. I cannot wait to see him in concert. NORMAN BROWN ROCKS!!!!!
ecstasy.......2002-12-26
Being a jazz freak, i keep a overwhelming collection of jazz CDs. In my archive, i have closely gaurded Norman Brown's album and place them under lock and key!! Norman Brown is one of the greatest jazz artist of all time. By my reckoning, he is a living icon. he sings my kind of jazz - smooth, well orchestrated, and alloyed with R&B touch. Of particular mention, is "Just between us", "After the Storm" and "Celebration".These CDs are one of his greatest works. His use of those fingers on the guitar fascinates me. Keep the flag flying, Norman!!

Not enough Jazzy B.......2003-05-08
Although not nearly as captivating as the monster disc "Keep on Moving" this CD deserves some attention; if for nothing else to give props to their earlier work. By the time Soul II Soul's London sound had crossed the Atlantic to American audiences they were becoming shadows of what they once were. This disc was their third American release and a very dissapointing follow up to some ground breaking music earlier in their shooting star career. This CD does not have the heavy , dense syncopated African influenced rhythms that took the dance music of the 90's by surprise. It has an airier light pop feel to it butvery soulful. Jazzy B's voice was the driving force behind the sound and was missing on many of these tracks. With his British accent and smoky vocals he was able to incorporate reggae style toasting for new audiences, inflecting a grittiness that meshed well with the dance muisc. He is featured on this disc on the songs "Direction," briefly on "Just Right" and takes the lead on "Intelligence" and "Everywhere." If you like the vocals of Jazzy B these are the only songs which feature his unique brand of "soft" rap that was very poetic and displayed the true essence of Soul II Soul. By the time this disc was released the group was fading into oblivion as Jazzy B was shifting his talents to the production side. The songs that feature other vocalists do not have nearly the impact of Jazzy B and actually give the disc the pop soul vibe. As a relic of a great band that had an impact on future sounds this disc was the end of a promising future. If you have never heard Soul II Soul begin with "Keep on Moving" and if you like that try the 10th anniversary release. This disc is not nearly as good a their earlier work but has some redeeming qualities.
Relaxing bit of jazzy pop!.......2003-04-28
While not possessing a monster like "Keep on Movin'", the hit that brought Jazzy B and his group international recognition, this album is a decent effort, featuring great vocals from Caron Wheeler ("Take Me Higher"), Richie Stephens ("Joy"), Rick Clarke ("Just Right"), and Kofi ("Move Me No Mountain" and "Future"). Fine flute work by Gary Barnacle highlights both "Storm" and "Intelligence".

Just Between the Two of Us/The Fightin' Side of Me.......2007-03-14
If you like clasic 70's country than this CD is for you. Bring back memories of deer hunting with my Dad and Brothers.
from the vaults.......2005-03-20
"Fightin' Side of Me," was recorded live in Philadelphia in the late '60s or early '70s, when protesting the Vietnam war was all the rage. This is the better of the two live Haggard albums I own, and I love his impressions, along with the novelty song "Harold's Super Service," available no place else. That one inspired a story by Jean Shepherd for "Playboy," about a pump jockey. Any song that can get Jean Shepherd interested is worth hearing--and singing. The truly weird part of this CD is just this--the first part, "Just Between the Two of Us," isn't Merle Haggard. That's a Buck Owens album. There's no mistake whatsoever. So, this is the oddest combo on one CD I ever heard. Luckily I enjoy Buck, so no problem, and I would have paid the full price just for the live Haggard album alone if I had to. a real treat.
Merle Haggard "Live In Muskogee Oklahoma" from 1969.......2004-04-20
I own the vinyl version and couldn't wait for this album to come out in CD form. Another album where Merle is at his very best.
merle haggard : the fightin' side of me - live.......2004-04-18
what a great album! my dad had this album on 8 track when i was a kid. i've been looking for it for 25 years and finally someone has re-released it! this is hag and the strangers at their best. the highlight of the album for me is merle doing his impersonations of marty robbins, hank snow, johnny cash, and a killer buck owens that you would swear is really him! if you're a haggard fan this is a must have. if i could own only one hag album, this would be it!

Not country, not pop, not bad........2006-08-10
This album and its predecessor "The Touch" are easily the most pop-oriented of the band's work through the mid 80's. The country is all but gone, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, as the band's sound in this era was never exclusively country. Highlights include the biographical "Tar Top" and nostalgic "'55".

Album Description
A Classic Marshall Tucker Album Newly Remastered
Just Us, one of the most highly regarded of all of MTB's albums, was the first that they produced themselves and the first to be recorded in their custom-built studio in Spartansburg, SC. New member Ronnie Godfrey brought a number of self-penned songs to the sessions, and his fiery piano playing reenergized the band. Overall, Just Us is just thatthe sound of a great band kicking back in the studio, doing what they do best.
Customer Reviews:
A Solid Release.......2007-04-22
A very solid release from the classic MTB era. Beginning with Dedicated through Greetings... the songcraft seems to be less "exploratory"- gone are the "jams" and seemingly installed is more radio friendly sounding material.
Marshall Tucker's Last Great Album Until 2004.......2006-05-10
JUST US was Marshall Tucker's illustrious followup to the miserable TUCKERIZED, but, unfortunately, its last great album until 2004. This time the band produced itself, and blind keyboardist Ronnie Godfrey, now fully integrated into the band, proved that his blindness was no handicap, contributing greatly to the writing here. You would think that Godfrey would spur the band on to further masterpieces, but unfortunately, the group hit a slide immediately afterwards from which it would not recover until the astonishing BEYOND THE HORIZON, a problem caused by the departure of all but two of the band's members. Nevertheless, you shouldn't pass this CD up.
