cyberCHUMP is a project of Jim Skeel and Mark G. E. Both Jim and Mark "research and develop" their music across the country from one another, then bring it together with guest musicians in occasional "finalization" meetings.

This second release from cyberCHUMP combines eclectic intrumental psychedelic multi-ethnic styles with deep organic and electronic grooves. Influenced by the music of Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Jean-Luc Ponty and Peter Gabriel Jim Skeel and Mark G. E. bring together blues violinist Jason Loveall (The Danglers), soprano saxophonist Jason Todd (Def Harmonic) , Mike Kashou (who played bass on the first Garbage release), John Kruth and others to create a densely textured fusion of jazz, rock and space melodies that sound like neo-psychedelic music.

Jim Skeel and Mark G.E. get together to play with a bunch of friends; it sounds like they had a blast with the jam-sessions of Inner Grooves... Sprawling, guitar-led excursion DistortoGroove heads into smoother vibes of faux-ethno-influenced Desert Keys, still quite bouncy in its demeanor. A misty entry into Space is the Case turns prog-jazzy as spattered cymbals, radiant sax streams, cool bass and more, smoothly jam. Spirited rhythms stomp through a dreamworld of musical styles as The Orbulon takes the sci-fi road to a rocking good time.

Blurting out buzzy streams of retro-movie horns as well as lounge-o-tronic vibes, and glaring surf guitars, warm We mixes and matches instrumental types with playful abandon and skill. Eloquently sawed strings add a sensual, semi-symphonic wang to Reflecting Pool, while Inner Core is marked by a murkier cyclone of sweetly somber swirls. Contagious glee for these inventive cross-pollinated jammers!

Though not my usual type of music, I was drawn into the beat and stayed for the funky exposition. Nothing trite or derivative, these tunes gave my brain something to think on and booty something to shake about. Or about which to shake, more properly. Check it out.

    I have heard this band's sound develop over the years. These are dedicated musicians who successfully produce a signature sound. Who is their fine keyboardist? This album should be the first of many!

    I have quite a large collection of jazz recordings, from the early greats to the edge-breakers of todays jazz innovators. Stuart Hart and his fine collection of musicians, including, Dennis Chambers, Matthew Garrison, Jr., Gary Grainger and Gary Thomas, play like with a desire and energy that one seldom hears on any album. I have also been privileged to hear Hart's band play live and it is truly a remarkable show. Stuart Hart is an amazing guitar player that seems to have an incredible command of old and new jazz components. He writes his own songs and communicates his feelings and desires through his guitar. Truly worth a listen; you won't be disappointed.

    I found this cd to be a refreshing change from the usual Jazz/Fusion style. Instead of musicians showing off their "chops", here I find a harmony between the melodic content and the thankfully not too self indulgent solos. Stuart has put together a ferocious band that sounds as if they have been together for years. I would recommend this cd to those in search of a a more listenable disk than the usual offering from even the most popular Jazz artists.

    Inner Voice is an unbelievable compilation of original modern jazz. This CD has an incredible sense of harmony. This CD is a must for all Modern Jazz lovers. This guy has some incredible musicians on the CD. Dennis Chambers (drums), Matthew Garrison and Gary Grainger (Bass), Gary Thomas (sax). With a line-up like this, no wonder the CD is so musical.
