"...the first cut with it's Leslie-fied guitar arpeggios and dreamy vocals is worth the price of admission..."
About the Artist
The moniker that Magnets Mark Goodman has chosen for his musical collective is quite appropriate: artists such as Moe Tucker, Matt Wilson and David Lowery have been undeniably drawn to the band by a force that is as magnetic as it is magical. What could be so compelling about a still-fairly-unknown Washington, DC-based singer/song-writer/guitarist? The SONGS themselves are the reason, as Caffeine Superstar, Magnets latest, proves once and for all.
Album Description
Magnets first three albums, Dont Be a Penguin, Which Way, and Shark Bait, featured intriguing guest stars including Moe Tucker from the Velvet Underground and David Lowery from Cracker. Magnets 4th album, Caffeine Superstar, features a unique rhythm section of Chris Lovejoy from the Charley Hunter band on drums and Victor Krummenacher (ex-Camper van Beethoven) on bass. Mark Goodman, Magnets songwriter and singer, has written a cohesive dreamy album that is receiving excellent reviews. Caffeine Superstar features a languid, slow cover of the Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated." The album is Magnet's best effort to date. Paul Bauman and Steve Schiltz of the band Longwave add beautiful intertwined guitar parts. If you like Luna, The VU, or Low - you will love this album.
