You Just Squished Mr. Itchy Fish [Explicit Lyrics]

Editorial Reviews
Westword Denver, CO.
Far easier for me to enjoy was You Just Squished Mr. Itchy Fish, by Gladhand. This quintet (Carrie Beeder, Mike Brown, John Getter, David Spurvey and Mark White) is nutty in all the right ways. "Have a George" epitomizes their overtly theatrical approach; just as you're expecting a track dominated by Spurvey's sputtering Pere Ubu singing, the rest of the band, led by Beeder on violin, explodes into an entirely new dimension. From the herky-jerky "C.C.C." to the comically martial "Rub the Fuzzy," Mr. Itchy Fish finds Gladhand in creative overdrive - and even though there are some dead spots, they're few and far between. Expect the unexpected.

About the Artist
GLAD HAND Vocals + poetry + dijeridu + electric/acoustic guitar + upright bass + violin + drums + samplers = ?

"What do you guys sound like" Because San Francisco-based Gladhand is so prolific (hundreds of songs), several individual styles have emerged throughout the band's development. Their earlier material, much of which has stood the test of time, had a somewhat deliberate attitude. It was a country/heavy mixture reminiscent of Ween, the Residents, and Primus, which progressed into a... read more

5 out of 5 stars Gladhand Rules!.......2006-02-03

Completely wacky without ever being tacky, Gladhand serves up its concoction of punk/metal/country/jazz fusion. Road Apples and Meadow Muffins will forever be the band's official anthem, but all the other tunes on the CD are bitchin'. I just wish they included the Gladhand theme song on the CD. Too bad the band isn't around any longer. They used to put on killer stage shows complete with costumes, props, and dancers. And get this, when Gladhand opened for No Doubt in Denver in the mid-'90s, Gwen Stefani, who was admiring Gladhand's vocalist before their performance, approached the band after they performed and remarked, "you guys are weird!" This alone makes it worth checking out!!
