Ones and Zeros
Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
"Bryan Thomas is Albany, New York's one man 'pop-punk' fusion party. Throughout his lyrics he drops props to heroes like Bob Dylan, Prince and Joni Mitchell, but his percolating, probing stuff has grown beyond their primal influences into something at once rich, funky and ribald. Thomas also possesses one of the most flexible voices in the region, and hearing him sing is like taking a ride on a sweet aural rollercoaster.
Album Description
ONES AND ZEROS is soul rocker Bryan Thomas' second CD release. This time around it's overdriven guitars, big beats and layered vocals. This time around it's a darker sound, more aggressive and electric than the hip-hop folk of his 1999 debut "Radio Plastic Jennifer." And it's darker takes on similar themes - sex and race and art and God and the end of the world.

A Perfect CD.......2002-05-24
This is one of my favorite cd's and it was never even released by their stupid record company! It's a crime that this disc isn't on the shelf of every record store and on radio playlists. Why MCA records chose not to release this will remain a mystery to me. However, their were advance copies sent out to record stores and radio stations so it's not impossible to find. You can check eBay as it pops up for sale there every now and then. If you ever see this for sale...BUY IT!! RIFYL: Failure, Blinker the Star, Queen, Beach Boys.

Product Description
From their basement studio in Seattle, Mountain Con has taken the dusty, dirty sound of Americana and combine it through today's state of the art digital technology. What has emerged is a hybrid of folk-rock and hip-hop break beats that defies the genre-specific labels of the most astute music critics. The new album Dusty Zeros Dirty Ones was created entirely through their own process, which began by recording their own jam sessions to generate original sample material. They reconstructed, chopped and rearranged the best loops into a diverse and dynamic sample library that laid the foundation for the new record.

best album by far.......2006-06-03
love it. very different from everything out there. good mix of rock/folk/indie to satisfy any music lover. go see 'em live, they put on a great show. "false horizon" is hands down my all time fav song by them.
Very listenable.......2005-09-23
This is an album I found myself wanting to listen to again and again. The songs tend to be short, but catchy. "False Horizon" is probably the highlight of the CD with it's catchy lyrics, solid beat, and excellent mixing. None of the songs are bad, and it's overall a very solid album. With the kind of talent these guys have it's hard to imagine them not getting more popular.

Le Cuisine de Dynah.......2006-02-23
I have to say something about this album: I could see how someone might not like it. Dynah's brand of ethereal rock is an acquired taste. If you don't go for catchy songs with grandiose choruses and epic ambitions, then you probably won't like this.
The first couple listens I thought Dynah hadn't really established its own voice, but the more you listen the more Dynah's signatures become apparent.
They master shoegaze everywhere (maybe best with 'Ones and Zeroes' howling guitar) but garnish it with forays into British-tinged rock ('Sick Inside' gets huge in the end) and 80s-styled new-wave ('Misfit' gets good if you can get past the first minute-and-a-half).
'A.M.' swigs Radiohead's jar of wine completely dry, and the song becomes a roadblock on the album (just remember: you don't have to upload this song onto your iTunes).
Luckily 'Cracked Bones' quickly swoops in to save the day; it ushers in a stellar final five songs. 'Bones' ringing electric sits beside a strummed acoustic.
'Philosophy and a Kiss' again displays some Radiohead moves, but sounds much better.
Be patient with 'Plastiscene' then revel in 'Photograph's brilliance and the bonus track's murky dirge that just sounds large.
Certainly worth buying this off CD Baby for about the same as the spare change you'll find in your couch.

Tasty.......2001-10-30
I stumbled on this album looking for stuff that John Giblin (Kate Bush, Brand X, Peter Gabriel) had played bass on. I was intrigued by the cast of characters who appear on the album--in addition to Giblin, also appearing are Trey Gunn (King Crimson), David Rhodes (Peter Gabriel), Peter Hammill (Van Der Graaf Generator) and world musicians Kudsi Erguner on ney and Shankar on double violin. I decided to take the plunge and was richly rewarded for my efforts. With a revolving cast of vocalists, we get washed in tones that remind me of the best of Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel. If I have any complaint, it's that the CD runs a mere 37 minutes.

Album Description
"Right now, it's all about making this record we just put out (CHROME), bigger, better, and more widely heard than the last." States singer / guitarist Jesse. The history of OAZ, is however a bit more in depth. After showcasing for major labels and playing big shows like the Vans Warped Tour and the Triple Crown of Snowboarding as the S.F based rockers EMPTY, Rocky and Jesse, with two other members, parted ways when the whole thing came crashing down. "In hind sight, I know I handled things on pure emotion", adds Jesse, "I had poured every idea I had into that band, and wanted to take it to the next level. It didn't happen for us, and we watched as other people we knew got the break we were after. It killed the fun of it all right there at that time". What was born from the aftermath of that breakup was a new attitude, and a pure approach to making music. With distance and time, Rocky and Jesse would regroup and refocus their efforts on something entirely new."
Jesse had put together some demos that were really different than what we had been doing," says Rocky, "There were a lot more groove oriented ideas there, and the addition of Synth programming and loops were compelling".
The two former band mates got together and began rehearsing the new songs, and the name Ones and Zeros was coined. Partially based on the idea that a lot of the music was computer driven, and partially based on the Yin Yang concept.
"Even though we were building ideas on computers, it would be nothing without a real 24" kick drum pounding in your face, and a Les Paul tearing through a Marshall to bring it all home" adds Jesse. "Of course there is always the obvious sexual innuendo that underlies with the image of a one and a zero, but that plays into the yin yang thing, you cant have without the other".
Two Full Length Albums, a few small tours, and five years later, OAZ are going stronger than ever by way of their new CD entitled "CHROME". With production help from "Faith no More" founder Billy Gould, and Mastering engineer Ron Rigler of Primus fame, this record is a sonic soundscape that brings the listener into what OAZ are all about.
Big beats, loud guitars, and songs you can bring home to meet your mom while still feeling like your breaking the rules

Buy it used or bargin bin it.......2004-06-26
Although these guys rock they do it only one way, all of the songs sound the same - some faster than others, some slowed down. I got this because I heard the Policy of Truth cover they did and I like that song, it's a great cover, but it doesn't make it worth the whole CD.

Its OK.. but just barely.......2006-02-01
I was pretty disappointed with this Album. I had heard a couple of their songs on a internet radio station and really liked them but this CD doesnt have any of those songs - and in general the music on it is uninspired and not nearly as good as the stuff I heard previously.
Sadly, I don't know what the names of those songs were nor do I know what CD they are on.
Hopefully their future efforts will provide a better listening experience.
ones and zeros should get some press!.......2003-03-05
Ones and Zeros Protocol seems to be a perfect mix of technology, industrial and rock/grunge that works perfectly. Forget starts this album off with such a bang and then leads to the very different duality. Justfine and things ive done are very good rocks songs that wont hurt anyones ears but dont break any ground really. But that doesnt mean they are bad.. They are quite good. Seemyself is their ballad on the album and its quite good with its lsow spots and faster areas. But then we get to the two best songs on the album. Paradigm Shift and Free. These two songs kick much ... and they both seem very original and different from each other. Free has almost a funk about it that makes it almost different then the rest of the album but its hard rock edge pushed it out as my favorite track on this album. Then the album closes with a cover of the cure and a remix of something. Both quite interesting. All in all this album should get some press time and maybe some radio play. Itsa lot better then alot of the rock out there these days. Staying away from too much screaming and putting together incredible harmonies and sounds using whatever means they did. Protocol is one of the best albums u never heard
