Album Description
Ranging from delicious and cutesy-but-intricate electropop to bizarre funky hip hop and house beats-- the Troposcatter bring you beep music at its finest. The Troposcatter is one girl (Nikki) and one boy (Josh) from NJ and Chicago (respectively). They are unix gurus, cat lovers, outdated telco equipment stalkers and really cute. Butter Flavored Halon, their first label release, is out now on Banazan Records. With synthpop songs about torrid queer love affairs that take place in small towns you've never heard of to trip-hop homages to Chicago and Lake Michigan, the Troposcatter exhibit a mastery of a wide range of subject matter and musical styles. Some describe songs on the album as being closer to IDM, while others say their house music influence is incredibly strong--this shines through in The Troposcatter's tribute to the Baltimore Club Music underground "Baltimore (freeky deeky)" and the acid house stylings of "Theme From The Troposcatter Dance." The Troposcatter is actively recording at all hours of the day, I hear they don't sleep. "Sleep is for the weak," says Nikki, singer and synthesist, "it's totally optional, you know?"

Basically, if you like a bit of squiggly beeps boops and swoops interjected with your pop, you need this album. You'll probably be hearing more from them in the near future and you'll be able to say "Hot damn, I was into them before they went BANG!! and blew up all over the scene."
BUY THIS ALBUM.
