The Kill You EP

About the Artist
the likes of which is a pop/rock/alt. band from Atlanta, Ga. They have been playing together through various line-ups for nearly 10 years. There have been many different members in and out of the likes of which. Four remain. In 1996, the two members at the time, Jason A. Brown and Christopher Bono began recording a series of demos that would become the basis of the band's sound today. Using influences such as the cure and radiohead, the likes of which have become an american pop/rock band with a definite touch of brit pop. Chris and Jason recorded three ep's together: ep5, ep6 and cd3. Eventually every copy of each ep had been sold. A new line-up was created and a new ep was recorded in 2001. it was called EP4. For the year after, the band played in Georgia and EP4 has been selling well. However, in late 2001 a new project emerged. Because of fan requests, the band has begun recording a new ep called "The Kill You EP". This ep is being paid for in part by pre-sales at shows and through the website. After enough money was raised and enough copies were sold, the project began. The EP was finished in January 2002 was released on April 6th, 2002. The band hopes to begin playing more extensively throughout the southeast in 2002 to support their new effort. THANKS TO THE FANS WHO HELPED PAY FOR THE KILL YOU EP BY BUYING ADVANCED COPIES!!! influences: the cure, radiohead, the sundays, kent.

Some good some bad.......2005-11-17
The Kill You EP is an earlier Darling Violetta CD that is very different to their later work. Apart from the song Awesome which is a great pop-anthem the rest is more raw and alternative sounding (which may or not be your choice). Personally i think this CD is really only for DV fans, others should get Parlour as its a much more consistent and satisfying offering.
I'd give it 3.5 stars if i could.
Pop Music's Best-Kept Secret.......2005-05-07
Don't let the "EP" fool you...if you're a newcomer to DV, this album explores more moods & atmospheres than most full-length CDs. Or, if like me, you've followed the band off-and-on for a while, this EP shows whole new sides of DV. "Cocoon" is definitely my favorite track. It shows some sophisticated exoticism without the Eastern scales being too overbearing. "I Want to Kill You" has a film-noir feel to it, and eventually grows to show the singer expanding her voice to places I never thought it could go. Every track shows the mid-point (so far) of DVs maturing sense of instrumentation and songcrafting. An altogether amazing pop band.
Great EP.......2002-10-24
This a great collection of songs from a band that, as far as I know, is not well known in the US. The album grows on you the more you listen to it.
A fusion of familar artists.......2002-01-25
This bands sometimes reminds me of the Cranberries, sometimes Frente, sometimes Pizzicato Five, and sometimes the Corrs; or like Irish/Australian/Japan-Pop mixed together. That is not to say there aren't original, just imagine mixing those artists together, somehow. An all-around good CD, too bad it doesn't it isn't loaded with tracks. It is good enough to own, and best of all it is not copy-protected!
Amazing, inspiring music!.......2002-01-24
This EP is pretty amazing. 'I want to kill you' is really haunting, and 'Awesome'is really uplifting. I love this, and dont't worry if you have to wait a while, it's worth it! Other CDs to check out are 'Bath water flowers' also by Darling Violetta, and 'I Bificus' by Bif Naked, who is also really inspirational.

their music is just so soothing. i like listening to them while i'm surfing the internet or just chilling in my room.
Good Stuff.......2002-07-13
A pretty perky EP with lots to offer, from great vocals to wonderful rhythm and lead guitars. The lyrics are nothing short of poetry set to the beat of an awesome drummer. The tone set by "Kill You" is complimented by the sensitivity of my personal favorite, "Ordinary Girl." "Last Farewell" echoes a bit of the mood of Wayne Cochran's "Last Kiss," but with the pushing drum and guitar rhythms, it makes you want to sing - loudly. The second recording of "Kill You" rocks with 20something apocalyptic frustration and the bonus track should be a radio single!
