heard the album shimmer on the soundtrack to "A family affair* lesbian film, waited to the end of the film to find out who this girl was singing right through the film and got to the credits and there was the name...so i raced to the computer and buy the cd, since it ain't available in Australia ( where i am from ) so it is on it's way to me now...cannot wait to hear it on my cd player up loud, instead of on the tv all the time...

the music and words are beautiful....love her music!

Excellent album.......2003-09-26

A real surprise - and one of my favorite discoveries in a long time. Strongly reminscent of Garbage's earlier albums (and Shirley Manson's rich vocals), but with more musical diversity and not quite as dark. The album is full of life and intensity, and if you've only heard "Falling Up" you're missing a lot. While the single is excellent, the rest of the album is even better. Kelly Neill's vocals are silky smooth and gripping. The drum machine and synth rhythms are folded expertly into lively guitar, bass, and even a little sax. This is NOT just another techno-pop band with one over-produced song fronting a flat album.

Shimmer is one the best Alternative Pop CDs available today...The sound is addictive as is the voice of lead singer Kelly Neill and the band.. great guitar and drum riffs....

If you want to purchase a great listen..without conforming to the commercial lemming bands this is the one...Why they have not broken the glass ceiling in the music business is the greatest mystery of all....Shimmer....The CD is always in my CD machine..and it should be in yours too!!!! I only wish they would tour....

Shimmering Review..........2001-07-20

I first heard the music from this CD as the soundtrack to a movie being made, and I fell in love with the gorgeous melodies and incredible lyrics right away. Natasha's Ghost has done an outstanding job creating something that will truly invade your soul - from the deep, dark intensity of "What I Want", to the upbeat yet philosophical "Natalie". One of the best original CDs I have come across in a long time!

Great CD!.......2001-05-29

I first saw Natasha's Ghost on MTV Spring Break a couple of years ago. Loved 'em then, love 'em even more now. Kelly Neill is an incredible singer/performer and Shimmer has so many moods and textures, its earned a permanent place in my changer. To the band, if you see this: Thanks for a great new CD well worth the wait!

Formed in 1996,this Bay Area six piece band's main influence is Brian Wilson.'Natural Riot' is the group's second release.Best described as lo-fi psychedelic pop.The disc sounds a bit dated,but with me,that's fine.Call it poor man's psych - it's got a late '60's feel to it.Tracks I was impressed with were the uptempo "Model Kit","Matadors In Red","Burning Bridges"(possibly the CD's best cut),the well arranged "Soft Police","The High Season" and the atmospheric "October Century".Line-up:Josh Babcock-guitar,vocals&producer,Adam Dobrer-bass,Dave Isbister-piano,Lorelei David-theremin,Dave Dunstan-sax and Mike Evans-drums.Might appeal to fans of Olivia Tremer Control,Elf Power,Smog and Apples In Stereo.

this album was the one that started it all for former Reality Check member Nathan Barlow, it brought him into Euro-styled rock (akin to Muse, Radiohead, etc)...

Solid overall sound but only one complaint....................2002-12-22

They clearly imitated the chord structure from one of Radiohead's songs titled 'Let Down' on the British bands 'OK Computer' album. Asside from this blatant ramake of chord structures on Luna Halo's track #4, this cd is quite pleasant. Even track #4, the culprit of the melay, provides a very nice tune. This is one of the finer alternate Christian cd's that has been developed over the last few years.

Nine Months In A Making.......2002-07-05

ýShimmer" is Luna Halo's debut album. It took them almost a year to record the album and the result of such effort is simply outstanding!

Luna Halo is a new band in the Christian scene debuting last 2000 where music circles on alternative/pop/modern/rock category with dreamy, atmospheric and melodic approach. Fond on doing effects in intro and electronic sounds while vocals are enchanting. Some lyrics can be identified as relation with faith when pronouns like "You" in capital letters. Otherwise message is universal.

Here's a small info for each track. If you got favorites, here's mine (6 out of 12):
1. ALIENS (4.5 stars) Interesting lyrics depicting some of our deep thoughts as "aliens". Heavy on sounds but could be likeable. Great intro to the album.

2. SUPERMAN (4.5 stars) Striving perfection will only disappoint us, aside for the true One who can. Brilliant mixed on instruments.

3. CARRY ME (4.5 stars) This song reveals our true need for a Savior. The sincere lyrics blend casually with the pop/modern tune of the song.

4. FORGIVENESS (5 stars) (*2nd fav*) Message sets an experience of forgiveness where sometimes even the mind cannot fathom. Also, hearing the melody makes this as one of my personal favorites. It's just like raining with lovely tunes and blending.

5. WAIT FOR YOU (4 stars) At times, a bit heavy on guitars. Message focused on perseverance while in waiting. Lyrically done.

6. HEAVEN (4 stars) A praiseful message where together with nature, exaltation is lifted up. Nice display on guitars. A bit enjoyable!

7. HANG ON TO YOU (6 stars) (*1st fav*) After reading all the lyrics, this became my favorite. Song emphasized on our weaknesses and the source of our strength through Christ. Previously sung by Delirious, Luna Halo brings a new flavor on the song and gave justice to it. Aside from being easy to sing, this praise-like can be sung continuously without feeling bored.

8. SO FAR (5 stars) (*6th fav*) (Being Christian does not need proving, genuine action comes out naturally. Music stylishly rocks.

9. RUNNING AWAY (5 stars) (*4th fav*) Enjoyable rhythm, catchy melody and easy to follow. Message focused on leaving behind the act of sinning.

10. BEAUTIFUL (5 stars) (*5th fav*) Stunning vocal in loud whispers...admiring beauty in such deeper sense. Classy execution.

11. COMPLACENT (3 stars) A prayer to bring back our lost brothers and sisters, satisfied in the old ways. The melody is unique but not quite an impact.

12. THE WAY TO YOUR HEART (5 stars) (*3rd fav*) Heart weighs a lot in everything. Music is soft in stanzas while chorus is simply common to sing with. At the end of the song, a Japanese narration was heard. To interpret the words, purchase the CD - read the message of a searching man.

If you are into fresh and different music, giving Luna Halo a try will leave you guaranteed satisfied. Total Average: 4.625 (5 stars - a must-buy).

Luna Halo is awesome, and that's just putting it lightly.......2002-06-28

Luna Halo is one of my ultimate favorite artists of all time. When I first heard Superman on Air1 radio, I thought it was pretty cool. Then at one time, I went this one guy's house, he had Sky Angel, and I saw the video for Superman. I think Luna Halo is one of the awesomest bands ever. I totally recommend this cd to anyone who likes rock style music. I want to play their songs on the bass, but I still need to learn how to pick up the bass sounds more so I know how to identify the bass chords.

A soulful rocking composition... with a vague intention.......2002-01-04

I first learned of the band Luna Halo when their single Hang On To You aired on our local Christian radio station. After listening to the CD briefly in store, I bought it. The CD is 12 tracks of solid pop rock with some amazing vocals and effects. After listening for a while a reading the cover slip I found the lyrics lacked much of the spiritual grunt that definitely comes through in the music. Hang On To You is one of my favourite tracks, but I was a little disappointed to find it was a originally Delirious song from thier Glo album with lyrics by Martin Smith. Although Delirious is by far one of the world's top Christian bands, after listening to D's origional version, I was very impressed at how Luna Halo polished up and improved on the song.

Other good tracks are there aswell and the lyrics do have a Christian feel - but it's indirect and not blatant. Thus you can probably get non-Christians hooked on this pretty easily. Superman is a great song, as is Forgiveness, Heaven and The Way To Your Heart. These songs could very much become hits on secular radio but as yet I haven't heard any.

I recommend Luna Halo to fans of rock and pop. It's a fantastic blend of guitars, drums, bass and electronic effects. I can really feel the blessing in their music and I think you will too.
