3 out of 5 stars The band rocks, the singer sucks...........2003-07-19

I have been a Tygers fan from the first time I heard Euthanasia on a new music show on an FM station in my area in 1980. I now know what a rarity it was to hear Tygers on US radio, ever. I was excited when I saw this disc at the store and immediately picked it up. It was great to hear the band run through all my favs from "Spellbound" and the rest including "Euthanasia". The band sounds great, but the vocals are way off key and it bums me out...

4 out of 5 stars Rych Live Meltdown Green.......2003-07-05

If you liked the first three Tygers albums, then you have to buy this.

This "album" or another one like it would have been the perfect release before their next studio album the "Cage" which in my opinion was weak and didn't live up to the first three releases. Maybe the band would have survived the MTV New Wave onslaught which permeated radio listening choices after 1982. The potential was there but it never fully manifested itself.

This is a very good LIVE collection of Tyger tunes. The quality is not UFO's "Strangers in the Night" but definitely good with a few flaws. Overall the songs to my ear were well mixed and there is a nice selection of Tyger classics. The notes inside the cd mention the band was ill during this recording. I wish other bands I have seen play this well when sick. Jon Deverill's vocals are powerful. Almost overpowering on the songs from the Wild Cat album, but nonetheless pure Tygers. Weir and Sykes play extremely well together. Once in awhile you hear the Sykes flair and flash but if you are a Tygers Of Pan Tang fan you appreciate the music from the band, not individual members.

In the early 80's I really thought the Tygers of Pan Tang would be the next British/European Super Group behind Priest, Maiden and the Scorpions. I was wrong but they are still one of my favorite groups and fortunately these songs have been made available to fans like myself and others.

Made in USA in 2001, Serial# 5107-2, Playing Time 58:31

Recorded back in April 1981, this well recorded concert features the band during the "Spellbound" tour. Becoming a quintet with the recent addition of John Sykes, and the replacement of flat-voiced Jess Cox with Jon Deverill, TOPT's popularity sky-rocketed in the days of the NWOBHM.

The band performs songs from their first 2 albums ("Wild Cat" and "Spellbound") and the disc is full of energy. Deverill sounds a bit out of breath, and the renditions are not quite as "tight" as the studio versions.

Still, this release explodes with enthusiasm, and marks an interesting document in this line-up's too short career.

3 out of 5 stars Great expectations; But not fulfilled........2001-02-24

The Tygers of Pan Tang were the best band to come out of the British wave of metal in the early 80's. Their 1st 2 albums were good, but when they got John Sykes on lead guitar they took off. He only stayed for 2 albums, and Tygers kind of faded away. But when I heard of this live release from the John Sykes(Thin Lizzy,Whitesnake and Blue Murder)era, I got excited. But...when I listened to it I was disappointed. John's guitars are way to low in the mix, and the lead singer sounds pretty bad. But this is the only Tygers live cd with Sykes, so it is well worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Tygers absolutely smoke live!.......2004-01-07

This is a great NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) band that came out in the late 70's and laid the groundwork for bands like Metallica and Megadeth. In fact, Metallica cites such bands as Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamondhead, and Motorhead as major influences on their early music. This CD has great guitar playing by John Sykes (who went on to play in Whitesnake and Blue Murder) and Robb Weir. Both guitar players are fantastic. The singer Jon Deverill is very good and has a great voice for this type of hard rock music. Overall, the quality of the CD is excellent for a live recording. It's up there in quality with Ozzy Osbourne's Tribute and Iced Earth's Alive In Athens.

All of the songs were recorded on the first two Tygers albums, Wildcat and Spellbound. However, live, these songs are more raw and have a greater punch. This CD is the closest thing you can get to actually being there.

Great band. Great songs. Great CD. Buy it.

Hi, just to say that it sounds good, full of power, I just listened to this one (recorded 1981 live) & to the recent Mystical, which sounds flat, not same singer anymore.

OK, in fact, I didn't want to make a review, sorry ...

1 out of 5 stars Spikey Mikey Plays to an Audience of 3. .......2005-08-03

You can tell the excitement of the three people by the bored guy who yells because he's had too many, the drunk who throws bottlecaps at the band because they truly suck without Jay (yes, Mikey fooled Jay's fans again), and the drunk who keeps burping because his acid reflux has more range than Miss Clairol's number one fan. The bar is so empty that the reverb is laughable. It sounds like they recorded this in a haunted house. Hmm, how very appropo...
