About the Artist
AT ONE, a modern pop/rock act based in Tampa Bay, plays original music with a message. Singer-songwriter Matthew Colby began writing and performing music over ten years ago. Originally a street musician playing in pedestrian malls and metro stations across North America and Europe, now you’re just as likely to see him performing in a coffee house or club. The AT ONE line-up also includes veteran guitarist Michael Meadows, formerly of Friends of Your Mother, and seasoned drummer Mike Wine, formerly of Higher Ground Band.

Album Description
The first full-length album from AT ONE, UNISON is a collection of melodic modern pop/rock tunes with a message. The 10-track indie release was recorded in Nashville and features contributions from Tim Calhoun (guitarist and producer, credits include Considering Lily), David Roe (bassist, credits include Johnny Cash) and Tommy Wells (drummer, credits include Don McLean). Since its release, the album has been getting airplay in AT ONE's native Florida and elsewhere.

Beautiful, classy , enchanting. Like a few other reviewers, this album is always looked over and should not be! Its filled w/ some great, mature classics. Highly recommended.

This is where I fell in love with Celine's voice. When I first heard Where Does My Heart Beat Now, I knew this singer would be a major, major star. The rest I'd say is history.
This is still one of her best cds. It's full of great ballads, but there are a couple of faster songs like If There Was Anyother Way, and the fantastic title track Unison. That is the best song on here. If you are looking for a beautiful ballad, there are lots to choose from such as Have A Heart, If We Could Start Over and Last To Know.
You have to admit, she does have a fantastic and stunning voice and while you may not like her style of music, you know she really is one very talented singer.

4 out of 5 stars S.D., which mean "superb debut" from the "super diva"...........2006-07-07

Celine Dion's debut which catapulted her on the way to superstardom is a great debut, featuring her beautiful voice on mostly upbeat romantic songs. Five tracks on this album stand out from the others, especially the catchy title cut, Celine's first big hit "Where Does My Heart Beat Now", two Paul Bliss (of Moody Blues fame these days) songs in "(If There Was) Any Other Way" and "If Love Is Out of Question", and the sultry "The Last To Know". The rest of tracks are so-so, and I often skipped over these on my CD player. This album isn't for everyone, but Celine's most devoted fans can't help but go ga-ga over this stunning debut album.

5 out of 5 stars Natalie Plazibats Review on Celine Dions Unison .......2006-06-26

I love this album it is proubly her best album she has ever made. She brings pure talent with her incredibal vocals to beats of the early 80s and 90s. To her very well aproprite english album.I love this hole album every song is a hit. She is a French singer who can really sing compared too Vanessa paradis who can not sing as well. Buy this cd you won't regret it.I would also reccomend Celine Dions French Album and the colur of love also her greatest hits.

5 out of 5 stars Unison.......2006-02-26

While it is impossible to really squeeze The Very Best of Janet Baker onto just two CDs, this two and a half hour anthology is a fine portrait of the British mezzo-soprano. Central to CD 1 is Elgar's Sea Pictures, a definitive account with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir John Barbirolli. While other British music is represented by Vaughan Williams's "Linden Lea," Britten's "Corpus Christie Carol," and Warlock's "Pretty Ring Time," CD 2 balances the program with 10 Schubert songs accompanied at the piano by either Gerald Moore or Geoffrey Parsons, which range from "Ave Maria" to Shakespeare. The set lends equal weight to orchestral and more intimate song, as well as to works in English--a very moving reading of Handel's "He was despised" from Messiah--and European landmarks, including Mendelssohn's On Wings of Song and Brahms's Alto Rhapsody, the latter with a superlative London Philharmonic Orchestra under Sir Adrian Boult. In an age of technically dazzling but sometimes bland singers, this release is a reminder of emotionally intense musicianship that retains vocal clarity and commitment to the composer's intentions over superstar ego. The word great is often used all too easily, but it could not be more appropriate for this outstanding collection of a great singer. --Gary S. Dalkin

5 out of 5 stars The Very Best of Janet Baker is simply the very best!.......2005-02-09

This cd and this amazing musician are an absolute must have for any music lover or music snob alike! Her voice is amazing!

5 out of 5 stars Grace Incarnate.......2002-09-02

If there is one singer who has ever truly been able to master the singer's art of interpretation, this is her. She is a gift to music, I truly believe this. A few words, or glowing adjectives could not accurately describe the singing of a woman who epitomizes art. And music. Grace and beauty.
Each track on this cd is a perfect union of poetry, melody and technicality. Dame Janet Baker fully immerses herself into each piece, and delivers highly commited, intelligent & emotional performances.

5 out of 5 stars A Rare & Glorious Singer.......2002-06-10

This is a pretty good cross-section of Dame Janet's output from the prime of her career. There are few if any singers like her around today. There are many mezzos who can sing beautifully, with great articulation and finesse, but they lack the moral and musical integrity Dame Janet always brought to her singing. The voice is ardent, seeking, yearning, finding, exulting. Listen to the excerpt from "Dream of Gerontius" or the third of the "Sea Pictures" to see what I mean.
She does not sing to show off. She sings to enlighten, to illuminate, to reveal, to enter into. Her voice carries us off, near to Heaven.
Dame Janet has been neglected of late. This recording shows us why, in these perilous times, we need her more than ever.

5 out of 5 stars Come Be Transported.......2006-10-26

I have never been to New England physically, but I've been there in soul.

I discovered this instrumental CD in the fall of 2000 and have been entranced by it ever since. The music is sentimental but also sincere and moving. The melodies and arrangements are evocative of a far-away place that is somehow familiar, warm and welcoming. You lose yourself in these recordings.

While some of the songs might be labeled as smooth jazz, the many variations in mood allow it to become more of a mental and emotional journey for the listener. Your mind's eye will take you traveling over the rocky coasts of America's eastern seaboard, and perhaps England, Scotland, or Ireland.

"A Ship A-Sailing" sets the tone at the very beginning. Its comforting rhythym places you on the waves, perhaps awakening to a warm sunrise aboard a boat rocking gently at some quiet dock. "Farewell to Mystic Harbor" is at first melancholy then hopeful and consoling. "Sounds of the Sea" features a penny whistle (flute) that takes you to sea enveloped in a gentle waltz.

The middle selections highlight more of David's piano work in various styles, from nature's stillness on "Pale Rain" to a late-night dance floor shuffle on "An American Idyll" to an uptempo, vaguely latin beat on "Back Roads".

In the end, he returns us to the seashore with the reassuring beauty of "We'll Go No More A-Rowing" and then finally tucks us in for the night with the lullaby, "Evening Clouds".

David Huntsinger wrote and arranged the music on this CD and his keyboard work is featured on every cut, however he is accompanied by several excellent musicians whose acoustic instruments make marvelous contributions to the overall effect. Lush strings add richness on a few tracks while flute, cello, harp, soprano sax, string bass and even bongos are also blended into the mix here and there. David also makes skillful use of multiple changes in tempo, dynamics and instrumentation to add interest and complexity.

There is a small, beautiful, seaport town here in Washington State called Port Townsend that is as close to a small New England town as we can get within an hour of Seattle. My wife and I play this CD nearly every time we travel there, to unwind and set the tone for the weekend. After nearly six years we never tire of its mood. For us, David's music has become as much a part of our getaway as the trip itself.

5 out of 5 stars Delightful & Relaxing...a work of impeccable musicianship.......2006-09-11

(Copy of my Epinions review from 2005) I've owned this CD for about 4 years now...it is definitely one of my favorites and was "love at first listen!" As a musician I'm always looking for new and interesting works to listen to and I enjoy finding them in odd places, which is where I found this gem of a recording--my local dollar store, so I really feel I got one of the best bargains ever! The jewel case caught my attention because my favorite season is Autumn--it is also my name--and I love the East Coast and its New England states, plus I have a secret passion for lighthouses which is pictured on the back cover.

The music is well-written, each piece telling a story through its sequence of notes and carefully placed phrasings...every nuance, lilt, and dynamic change enhances the story...light yet interesting use of counterpoint sprinkled throughout. The instrumentation used to accompany the piano playing of David Huntsinger is often sumptuous, rich and dreamy, whether it be many instruments or just a few--the balance is perfect. The musicians and arrangers that assist Huntsinger on his album are some of the very best, such as Jack Jezzro, Cindy Wyatt, and David Clydesdale. Huntsinger blends light jazz and classical stylings seamlessly on this recording. If I had to categorize this recording, I'd list it as "Contemporary" Easy Listening.

This music has the ability to always calm and relax me. I listen to it at work and home. I played it for a coworker who was looking for something different and relaxing. He immediately liked it and wanted the CD...fortunately I was able to purchase a copy for him--it was the last copy sold at the store. I'm 48 and have played this recording for my 81 year old mother, 26-year-old niece, as well as my 7-year-old niece and each of them enjoys this recording! I've also played it for many friends, musicians and non-, male and female...all have enjoyed it. I think it would appeal to anyone who is looking to relax both their mind and body.

Huntsinger's talent shines through brilliantly on this recording...well worth the price, at whatever price you're able to purchase it, should you be able to find the recording!

4 out of 5 stars An Autumn Masterpiece.......2006-09-05

This 1995 CD is a masterpiece. Listen. The music will take you there. Feel the autumn breeze, virtually watch the leaves change color and stroll a wooded New England lane. I can't imagine experiencing Autumn without this CD.

A Ship A-Sailing: "I saw a ship a-sailing, a-sailing on the sea, And it was deeply laden with pretty things for me. There were comfits in the cabin and almonds in the hold. The sails were made of satin and the mast it was of gold." - A New England lullaby of English origin.

Farewell To Mystic Harbor: "Mystic, CT is a very old seaside village poised on the mouth of the Mystic River. Its trim white houses and restored waterfront evoke visions of its glorious past as a bustling maritime community. Once a seaport from which locally-built clipper ships sailed to San Francisco during the 1849 Gold Rush. Mystic is still a beautiful starting point for a romantic sailing adventure."

The Sound Of The Sea: "The voice of the sea speaks to the soul. The truth of the sea is sensuous, enfolding the body in its soft, close embrace." Katie Chopin (1852-1904): In The Awakening

October Sends a Favorable Wind: "Whichever way the wind doth blow, Some heart is glad to have it so; Then blow it east or blow it west, The wind that blows, that wind is best." - Caroline Atherton Mason (1823-1890): from Whichever Way The Wind Doth Blow.

A Pale Rain: "And who art thou? said to the soft-falling shower. Which, strange to tell, gave me an answer..." - Walt Whitman (1819-1892): from The Voice of the Rain.

The Persistence Of Memory: "Memory...is the diary that we carry about with us." - Oscar Wilde (1854-1900): from The Importance of Being Earnest.

The View From Nauset Light: "Lead, kindly Light amid the encircling gloom. Lead Thou me on: the night is dark and I am far from home." - John Henry Newman: from Lead Kindly Light (1834). "The top of the lighthouse provides a magnificently peaceful view which fills the soul with a sense of the infinite mother ocean. And yet how small and vulnerable even the largest sailing craft is upon it when a night fog rolls in or a storm threatens. The old lighthouse keepers knew this well and certainly were entrusted with a sacred responsibility."

The Trees Weep Leaves: "The trees weep leaves And the wind whispers winter. The shrill Autumn breeze reaps a harvest of the heart;Yearning for Septembers gone by, We mortals also cry. Lamenting Summer's end, And bowing our withering branches to the wind We mourn our losses - The old loves and old friends Who've fallen away one by one Like crimson, ocherous petals- As the trees weep leaves And the Wind Whispers Winter." - Bonnie Huntsinger: The Trees Weep Leaves

An American Idyll: "O suns and skies and clouds of June, And flowers of June together, Ye cannot rival for one hour October's bright blue weather." - Helen Hunt Jackson (1830-1885): from October's Bright Blue Weather.

Autumn Dreamcatcher: "A dreamcatcher if the handwork of certain Native American peoples. Its purpose is practical: catching nightmares. A willow branch or grapevine is twisted into a circle over which a net is woven, then bejeweled with turquoise or other stones and decorated with hanging leather strips and feathers. Good and bad dreams travel together through the night air: but the dreamcatcher, suspended over a child's bed, allows only the good creams to pass through the center of the net."

Back Roads: "Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open road. Healthy, free, the world before me, The long brown path before me leading me wherever I choose." - Walt Whitman (1829-1892): from Song of the Open Road.

We'll Go No More A-roving: "So we'll go no more a-roving So late into the night. Though the heart be still as loving, And the moon be still as bright. For the sword outwears its sheath, And the soul wears out the breast, And the heart must pause to breathe, And Love itself have rest. - Loyd Byron (1788-1824): from So We'll Go No More A-Roving. "Byron based his poem on the refrain of the ancient Scottish song recorded here. The tune migrated to New England where sailors sang bawdy, new words to it under the title Amsterdam."

Evening Clouds: "Finally home. Even the most perfect journey must come to an end; and home is once again a most perfect place from which to view a beautiful sunset sky."

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Lilting Music.......2005-10-13

The music is lively and beautiful on this album. I play it over and over when I need a lift.

5 out of 5 stars Splendid!!!.......2005-09-21

I originally bought this CD in a Bargain bin at a music store locally. After hearing it I could not believe that I only paid $3.00 for it. The cello solos are just the ultimate when it comes to relaxtion. Later I had also found another CD by the same artist by the name of - I think it was "New England Sundrise" Tragically enough I lost that CD and hoped that another one would turn up somewhere. Anyways, this CD is the ultimate when you just want something to sooth your nerves!

5 out of 5 stars By Appointment of Her Majesty.......2007-05-12

I heartily recommend the purchase of this exalted collection of music from the Elizabethan coronation ceremonies of 1953. The music represents an outstanding selection of the music of English christendom at the mid-20th Century. The performance quality of a variety of ensembles are commensurate with the quality of the selections themselves.

5 out of 5 stars Music from the Queens Coronation.......2005-08-21

If one word was allowed it would be MAGNIFICANT.
I have listened to the whole disc several times now and am still thrilled by the music

5 out of 5 stars Magnificent!!.......2002-04-01

I purchased this CD at the Tower of London gift shop while on a trip to England a few years ago. This album is superb, with beautiful digital re-recordings of the music from Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. I have listened to it countless times. This wonderful music reminds me of the great heritage we in America share with Great Britain. Breathtaking, inspiring and uplifting, this album will not disappoint.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest Ceremonies the World's Seen.......2002-01-14

The Coronation of HM Elizabeth II in June 1953 was one of the most spectacular public events the world has seen before or since. At the Queen's request, the Coronation was televised live on the BBC, the first coronation to receive such treatment. This is not a recording of the actual Coronation Service itself, but rather a recording, made in Westminster Abbey, of the actual music (with much of the same arrangements) that was used at the Coronation.

You will not be disappointed with this album!

5 out of 5 stars Grand and Glorious.......2001-08-15

This CD contains some of the most beautiful music ever written. The music performed at Queen Elizabeth's 1953 coronation was recorded in 1993 and released on CD. If you like high church music and you have an appreciation for what was probably one of the most spectacular public pageants of the 20th Century, you will love this CD.

2 out of 5 stars Hisssing like a tape.......2004-03-10

The louder I turn it, the louder the hissssing. It's possible that it's meant as a part of the rain sound, but to me it sounds like non-stop hissssing. If it wasn't for that it seems like it would be very relaxing. Too bad!

5 out of 5 stars Heaven!.......2003-12-16

I've been playing myself to sleep with this CD for about five years. It's a perfect blend of gentle rain and gentle (original) meandering music. No distracting sounds or sudden shifts in volume. I've tried a number of "rain" CDS and not one comes close to this one.

5 out of 5 stars Great to help you sleep!.......2003-09-28

I love to listen to this CD when I go to bed or when I want to relax. It drowns out the sounds of my neighbors and helps me unwind. There are no bird calls or other distracting sounds just the soothing sound of rain. It's a must have for those who have difficulty sleeping.

5 out of 5 stars Gentle Rain: Wonderful for Sleep.......2003-01-28

I love the sound of rain, especially when ready for bed, so I bought this CD. I was especially glad to have it when I began working night shifts: It masked the day-time sounds outside, and made day-sleeping so much easier. Excellent to relax and read with. I highly recommend this recording!!

I had this CD stolen and was very excited to find it available online. I listen to it often and find myself transported back to my favorite place in Maine every time!

5 out of 5 stars Phenomenal creative inspiration and relaxation!.......2003-03-10

For anyone wanting or needing some creative background inspirational music, background music while reading or total relaxational sounds for soaking in a bubble bath - this is the CD for you. It will clear your mind OR keep your creative thoughts on track when needed. I find this CD particularly good after an exhasting day of dealing with art dealers and those difficult gallery owners...

5 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, Relaxing Music.......2002-01-14

I have a five disc CD player in my computer room, and this CD usually occupies one of the spaces. It is an excellent compilation, ranging from the upbeat and jaunty (The Captains of Orange Street) to the moody and introspective (Snow on the Ocean). The musicians and arrangers have done an outstanding job of capturing New England in their music. Since this is a Natural Encounters CD, there are sounds of nature (whales singing, ocean surf) woven into the CD. This is done in a tasteful manner that only serves to enhance the New England feel of this CD. This disc is a must have for those who enjoy well done instrumental music!

5 out of 5 stars The best in the Natural Encounter Series.......2001-07-30

I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful this CD is. I listened to it while pregnant and delivery of my daughter. It is so soothing and relaxing but also leaves you with a sense of hope and peace. Similar to what you feel when looking out over the ocean. It is my favorite Cd.

5 out of 5 stars Reflective, peaceful music........1999-09-02

I thoroughly enjoyed this CD. I am interested in finding more music by Ted Wilson who orchestrally arranged "The Captains of Orange Street" on this CD. However, I cannot find any listing under his name. Can anyone assist me in my search? Thank you.

    Album Description

Celebrating the centenary of Aaron Copland's birth, Gloriae Dei Cantores presents a broad spectrum of choral music by Aaron Copland and Virgil Thomson. These two musical giants exemplified the ideals of American culture and established a truly American style for music. The centerpiece for this recording is the first American recording in many years of Copland's choral masterpiece In the Beginning, featuring American mezzo-soprano Luretta Bybee.

Also included are Thomson's beloved Four Southern Hymns and some of his fascinating early works written during his sojourn in Paris, and a selection of vibrant choral arrangements of Copland's Old American Songs.

    Customer Reviews:

    5 out of 5 stars A Great British collection.......2005-10-05

This CD features several particular composers who have written pieces of music that are quintessentially British: Jeremiah Clarke, George Frideric Handel, John Stanley, John Eccles, Henry Purcell, William Corbett, Edward Elgar, Arthur Sullivan, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst and Thomas Arne. The pieces here are triumphant, celebrating that particular period of Empire when the British ruled vastly such that the sun never set upon it - one of the key elements of such triumphant music-making, particularly for the time, was the use of brass and trumpet. Some of the later composers included here draw on inspirations from these earlier times.

One of the featured performers on this collection is John Wallace, who was principal trumpet of the Philharmonia Orchestra since the 1970s; he founded the brass ensemble, the Wallace Collection, ten years later in 1986. In 2002, he became principal of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland, and the Wallace Collection gave their last performance shortly thereafter. However, the Wallace Collection lives on in performances on CD such as this one, performed with William Boughton and the English String Orchestra. Other tracks are performed by Scottish Chamber Orchestra conducted by Alexander Faris and the English String Orchestra conducted by Stephen Darlington.

Pieces here are very familiar to anyone with an interested in British national composition -- pieces such as the Water Music by Handel are very famous, as are Holst's 'Planets' and Sullivan's (of Gilbert & Sullivan) 'Pinafore'; other pieces, such as Clarke's 'Trumpet Voluntary', are similarly famous even if their composers did not achieve the 'brand recognition' that Handel did. All of the composers here came from the period spanning the late 1600s to the late 1700s, when music was as often written for music halls and public performances as it was for royal events and commissions.

The performances here are uniformly upbeat and well played, with little by way of blemish save the occasional drop and surge in levels (as often becomes the case when recording music with sharp brass elements).

One can envision theatres full of people waving Union Jacks while this plays, and many of the pieces have a quality about them that speaks directly to the time and place of Britain.

5 out of 5 stars If you like Baroque music, buy it; it is excellent.......2005-06-29

If you like Baroque music, buy this 2 CD's BOX SET; it is excellent. Clarke, Handel, Purcell, Corbet and so on are very well played. The orchestration is very good, the quality of recording is excellent. Remember that Baroque music uses mainly a single trumpet, few other brass instruments, some woodwinds and very few drums. It is very easy, elegant and pleasant to listen. When I got married in 2003, I have chosen only Baroque music for the ceremony and the banquet because Baroque music is so lovely, so delicate and so sweet. Even if you have never heard or you think that you have never heard Baroque music, buy this CD; I tell you, you will not regret your choice because it is really an excellent CD. You have my words.
