Tinctures

Editorial Reviews
Ramona Fannings, December 2001
"I can't keep your music out of my head and that hasn't happened to me since Minnie Rippertons Perfect Angel."

Tonya Hopkins, January 2002
I'll never forget the moment I heard Too Early. All I could do was sit on the couch and cry!"

Album Description
Heartbreak and euphoria still sound fresh when they're leavened by songwriting duo Tinctures, whose debut recording includes songs that first hit gold on the Showtime series Soul Food. Their cathartic mood takes on a variety of musical shapes, from minimalist soul to infectious dance tracks to ballads that beep and twang. Eisa Davis' alto is always a smooth constant, and Daniel T. Denver finds tones and rhythms to hold her voice like an egg. Tinctures' New York microbrew is a new combination of classic flavors with lyrics that will permanently stain your heart.

5 out of 5 stars Art and groove collide.......2002-05-16

Eisa and Daniel have a collaborative chemistry that yields a rare musical alchemy. Their music has hints of experimental art music, generous helpings of poetry above a solid foundation of rump shaking grooves. You can't help becoming spellbound by Tinctures' evocative lyrics, sinuous melodies and trance inducing tracks. Keep your ears and eyes on this duo.

5 out of 5 stars When Music Comes Home.......2002-02-28

This CD is something that will take you back to every thought you stored away in the back of your head...doubt, fear, love, rejection, hurt, hunger, guilt...and confront you...its worth listening ...you've probably heard it on Showtime's show Soulfood...Eisa and the band bring music back home

5 out of 5 stars ****Finally, Music to Poet Along To!!!****.......2002-02-21

Tinctures is a triumph for Eisa Davis and Daniel T.Turner in telling stories that are thick with meaning and heavy with metaphor. The liner notes read like poetry and the music feels like the conversation you have always wanted to overhear. It is the soundtrack that should be played when you are discovering the ugliest and the most beautiful parts of yourself, on the same day, no, in the same dream, no, with the same person.
