fletcher- UNDERAPPRECIATED HARDCORE SOUTHERN ROCK!!!.......2006-01-01
The first time I heard Fletcher I knew I was on to something HUGE. The creamy licks provided by guitar god Jim Abercrombie set the tone for the boys' hard rockin' exploration of the absurdity of modern society. See "Piss-N-Moan", a brilliant deconstruction of contemporary society's tendency to blame their "dysfunctional" upbringing for all of their problems and challenges. Jim, Beau, and the rest of the boys subtly skewer our habit of running to "Dr. Phil" to hear that it "is all somebody else's fault". "Piss-N-Moan is not only a paean to personal responsibility but bad ass rock'n'roll to boot. Proceed to the title track, which laments the plastic, consumerist country that we now live in. After all, with our frequent trips to Wal-Mart, mind-numbing sitcoms, insulting commercials, etc., aren't we all "Living by Numbers"?
Even though this album came out in the late 90's, it's complex social themes speak to us today. And as an added bonus, these dudes ROCK!! BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!!!

What can I say about Uncle Fletcher that hasn't already been said? Mere words can't describe the edgy rock n roll riffs that these lyrical geniuses have created with Living By Numbers. Whether the hard hitting "Piss N Moan" or the catchy "Weebles", Uncle Fletcher has created an intricate musical sound that they can call their own. On par with classics such as "The Joshua Tree" and "Dark Side of the Moon", Living By Numbers will be a welcomed addition to anyones musical library.
