degree of focus
Dave Goff, Indiego Music Center
"The mood is dark; verges on shoegazer... a strong synth-pop disc that fans of the Cure/Depeche Mode should love."
Nessim Halioua, Left Off The Dial, www.leftoffthedial.com
"Makes you wonder why people fall in love (at all)... you feel despair with every cringe of your body..."
Album Description
A continuation of the infinite cycle, twilight music for rainy drives and break-ups. Love without safety-belts: your heart through the glass at 75 mph. "degree of focus": Recorded by a guy with a guitar, some digital equipment, and a home studio, these songs are confessions of lost loves and broken hearts. The album is a release point for the things that were never said but should have been talked about long ago. They're not perfect, and they aren't trying to be. Currently, the starfirefive has become a two person collaborative and is further developing the scope of its sound: still not perfect, still not trying to be, still singing songs of stars, of life support and balancings.

Good Dim Sun.......2002-07-14
There's the anticipation, there's the memory, the memory of your mother and the time she took you to Hushang for the first time and you had a Pu Pu Platter and the best was of course the dumpling.
This CD is about the trip to finding that love. From seeing the intended, believing the intended is going to be constant never ending producer of that great feeling, and then the anguish of realizing that the kitchen is filled with a bunch of Mexicans using tortillas to wrap the dumplings.
Somehow the track 11 is the answer to the quandry.
Listen to it and it'll all make sense.
born to stare at stars on ceiling walls.......2002-05-06
degree of focus captures, qutie beautifully, this familar struggle. slivers of something familiar grab your attention, only to disappear and reemerge as something new, something foreign, probably something you've been searching for...
five stars-starfirefive!
