About the Artist
THE CLONES ® were founded in 1980 by James White and have created, produced and performed interesting Pop Punk musical sounds inspired by mid 1970s Kraftwerk and Devo. THE CLONES ® musical journey begun with the track "Conform To The Norm", found on the early 1980s "We Got Power Vol. 1" Compilation record featured in Maximum Rock & Roll magazine. The Clones ® are one of the hardest working bands as they continue to break new musical ground.

Pepper Alexandria is an all around multitalented performer who in addition to singing on the tracks "Get A Clone Life" and "Hello Cloneno" is an expert Belly Dancer performer and teacher. She performs throughout the United States authentic Egyptian cabaret Belly Dance as well as traditional middle eastern folkloric dances. She is also an expert costume maker and soft sculpture doll maker as well as a fine art artist and cartoonist. Alexandria drew the character "Cloneno" for the front and back cover of the "Get A Clone Life" CD.

Billy Schaub is an awesome musician, composer, producer and actor. His vast musical talents range from mainstream Pop to Rap and Underground Punk. Billy Shaub has continually contributed interesting musical ideas as an important member of THE CLONES ®. Working in 1984 with James White collaboratively for the underground punk bands Blind Acceptance ® and The Romulans ®, THE CLONES ® have afforded Billy an outlet to experiment and expand his musical ideas. Billy Shuab has also shown his many acting abilities in many Plays, Movies and T.V. Commercials.

The Clones ® are a Trademark of James E. White Registered in the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Washington D.C., Reg. No. 2412422, All Rights Reserved.

Album Description
The Clones ® "Get A Clone Life" featuring James White, Pepper Alexandria and Billy Schaub takes you on a musical journey from familiar electronic pop to hard edge rock to experimental musical landscapes. "Get A Clone Life" ties all these musical styles together with it's main themes about alienation in suburbia, overpopulation, anti-conformity as well as just having a good old time. The Music is fun and playful and yet, introspective in it's observations about modern life. "Get A Clone Life" in addition to being a more than 45 minute audio CD also contains 1 hour and 40 minutes of MP3 files that work in both Windows and Mac formats.

5 out of 5 stars Great Mix of Punk & Electronic Styles for smart concept CD.......2002-01-12

Great Mix of Punk & Electronic Styles for smart concept CD.
Much thought has been put into the construction of this CD by Billy Schaub, Pepper Alexandia and James White. After playing GACL many times over, I'm still hearing many more things that I missed upon first listen. In addition to being an intelligent thought provoking record, there are many, many fun and funny songs here. The musical styles range from Electronic Pop and Hardcore Punk to more "Nirvanaish" Punk and New Wave, to electronic experimental styles like "Negativeland." All in one "concept" where the songs ether flow into the other or run counter to the pervious track. The Clones are certainly trying to make a point in a unique way about the over commercialization of today's everyday society.
GACL starts off with "It's Up 2 You" a fast Punk song with a blistering guitar solo.
"Get A Clone Life" is an upbeat fun electronic Pop song that provokes one to "think" or "not think" you have to decide for yourself, depending on what wavelength the individual listener is on. "Hello Cloneno" is a cool sci-fi Barbarella weird pop Dance song about being oblivious to being cool or uncool at the dance club. Pepper Alexandria, her voice sounds very sexy and cool. A fun song.
"Colourful" is a driving hard rocking song. "Stuck In Pleasant Hill" is a hypnotic electronic song about the downside of suburban life. "Hurt My Feelings" is a favorite, this song rocks in an edgy "Nirvanaish" way. "Get A Clue" is a strange new wave instrumental pop song with strange sound effects. "Love is the Force" is a very lush flowing new age electronic rock song with a steady beat. Where "Clockwerk" is the opposite of the previous song. Sparse effects on the instruments, booming bass beat and pop vocals in the back of the mix, give it a strange claustrophobic feeling.
"Lonely S.O.B." is a great good feeling modern rock song with lush crunchy guitar rhythms and smooth vocals. Then the vibe is totally changed with echo on the drums like I've never heard before on "How Can People Live Like this?". A futuristic sci-fi electronic feeling with intelligent lyrics. Then the vibe is changed again and the CD gets stranger still with "Booze" as our masters of ceremony "Good-Time Charley" announces his first caller. I don't know if he's making fun of drinking alcohol or reveling in it or both. "Conform To The Norm" is a bit repetitious but that's the way of driving home the whole point of the song. "I am a crook" is Negativelandish.
What I like about this CD is that not all the songs sound the same (like too many boring bland bands out there) and yet follows a concept or theme that takes a few listenings to get. There are songs everyone should like, but others that are changeling to the average listener. The GACL CD as well as being a more than 45 minute regular audio CD is also a CD-ROM that has the whole GACL CD in MP3 format including the bonus tracks and 50 minutes of other songs for a total of one hour forty minutes of MP3 files. The CD-ROM part worked with both my Mac and Windows computers. Way cool.
