Beat Hollow [Live]

About the Artist
Musician, soundscape artist, engineer, and producer Brian Siskind, operating under the alias "fognode:::", resides currently on the "musical island" known as Nashville, TN. Brian has played drums supporting many writers and players in environments ranging from avant-jazz and improvisational musics, to more straight-ahead pop.

Hardly limiting himself to drums, fognode weaves drums, bass, analog synth, hammered dulcimer, pedal steel and other instruments into his pieces. Raw sounds are gathered as musical ore, then processed, treated, and edited, to mold a composition within a composition. The layering of these sounds is the depth and space, the sounds behind the sound, that inspired the name fognode:::, which was laughingly bestowed by a fellow conspirator in sound Corporal Blossom. The name stuck.

Back in 1997 Siskind moved to Seattle to work/study with original Santana drummer Michael Shrieve, and subsequently began working on solo material in an experimental instrumental vein. The product of this time period is his debut CD "Urban Passer" (Infrasound Collective 1999). The record summates his explorations in New York City, Seattle, and beyond.

Famed ambient/electronic music pioneer Brian Eno deemed the record "...a very original soundscape. It has an immediate - to me - seductive quality, I want to listen to what's going to happen. It's not ruined by some pathetic song."

As of late, Siskind has created a second record "Beat Hollow", co-written and played on music for an American Express coommercial featuring Tiger Woods, contributed works to various compilations and side projects, and is dabbling in video collage and other experiments.
