Bad Master

Editorial Reviews
Michael Dammers in Devil In The Woods - April 2002
The songs swing toward the catchier side of the indie-pop spectrum... There's lots of adventuresome songwriting here...

Steve Yayer in Shredding Paper - April 2002
Using... a guitar and lots of electronic sequencing, the feel is very solo Jonathon Richman-like...

Album Description
The debut full-lenth release from eccentric ambient popster SEAN MURPHY (AKA: THE BAD CASSETTES.) A playful twenty-four track blend of smooth sounds, strange cut-ups, haunting noises, electro-new wave, and poetic, tuneful pop ditties, played on an ecclectic variety of instrumentation.

5 out of 5 stars Last Great No Limit Album.......2003-12-20

I got this cd back when it came out in 97 and i still find mself listening to it. This cd came out when P was still reppin the west coast hard. After this cd he became the down south guy that we have come to know today. I think this is what messed him up. If he had coninued to rep both sides i hink he would still be on top now. there are 19 cuts on here that are all pretty good. If you like west coast music outside of Snoop and Dre then you'll LOVE this cd. If u dont but u like Master P the this is also a good cd to get because you get to hear him really rap and not just grunt. Silkk is pretty hot on hear to.

5 out of 5 stars The only Master P CD I listen to.......2003-10-14

Due to its unique sound and lyric styles this is the only No Limit CD Ill ever listen to and IMO the best from the record company. My favorite Are 1, 4, 5, 9, 10 and 19.

5 out of 5 stars West Coast Bad Boys a classic.......2003-01-20

Master P is a genius this has to be one of the best cds I own, I also reccomend West Coast Bad Boys Poppin Collars.

5 out of 5 stars The good ole days.......2002-12-08

This CD was released when No Limit was sort of an underground label. Back in those days the NL camp consisted of Master P, Silkk, Mia X, C-Murder, Big Ed and Servon. Having said that, the album features a lot of non NL appearances such as Brotha Lynch Hung, Ice Cube, WC, Rappin 4 tay, Mac Dre, and more. Tupac's voice is inserted in the introduction, with Master P rapping over the beat of one of Pac's songs from All eyez on me.
C-Murder and Silkk also appear on the album. but Mia X is not here. I think that along with Ghetto D and Tru 2 da game, this CD was one of the best from No Limit in 1997.

5 out of 5 stars bad boy bill meets ministry of sound.......2002-10-28

this cd is great it is a u.s. version of lets say judge jules or tall paul fm back in 99. so this to me was last of the anthem style house cd. i can go on and on about this cd but one message to you bbb come to hawaii soon.back to bangin in london this compolation is one of a kind bbb brings euro house and u.s. house together it is it reminds everytime i listen what the real house was like in the later half of the 90's and 2000.

5 out of 5 stars BAD BOY BILL AND CHICAGO HOUSE.......2001-05-02

THIS CD IS OK. THE ONLY THING THAT GETS ME IS WHEN THEY SAY IT IS OR ISN'T CHICAGO HOUSE STYLE. WELL TOO ME MOST OF THE CHOCAGO DJ'S ARE DOING PROGRESSIVE HOUSE. I GET FIRED UP WHEN PEOPLE SAY CHICAGO HOUSE LIKE CHICAGO HOUSE IS REALLY DIFFERENT FROM PROGRESSIVE AND UNDERGROUND HOUSE. I'VE BEEN A HOUSE FAN FOR OVER 10 YEARS AND BAD BOY BILL STILL SOUNDS THE SAME. DIFFERENT SONGS SAME MIXING. CALL IT WHAT IT IS PROGRESSIVE HOUSSE MIXED BY A CHICAGO DJ. LOUIE DEVITO AND DJ TAUCHER MIX THE SAME WAY AND THEIR FROM NEW YOUR.

5 out of 5 stars Bad Boy Bill Keeps It Up!.......2001-03-13

Despite some comments I found here, Bad Boy Bill has got to be the best Chicago DJ I have ever heard. I recently went to a Rave in Austin TX and he kicked much! After seeing him, I went and bought this CD and I listen to it faithfully. Keep it up BBB!

1 out of 5 stars Bad Boy Bill has sold out.......2001-01-24

This is house music, decently mixed, but it lacks any soul whatsoever. The beats will move you in parts, but in the middle of the only good track (Pumpin') Bad Boy Bill ruins it by adding a sample announcing that he is a world class DJ, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG! He didn't write that song, all he did was place the vinyl on the turntable. In Bangin' the Box 4 BBB demonstrates he can mix, but seeing him live is a dissapointment, he is lousy outsite the studio. Any DJ from Chicago should be ashamed Bad Boy Bill claims he is from thier town. If you want to hear good SOULFUL Chicago House without the DJ trying to be a superstar, look up Mark Farina, Glenn Underground or if you are lucky enough to find him, Paul Johnson!!

4 out of 5 stars A Continuous sound from V.4.......2001-01-22

Once again, bad boy bill delivers his art to the masses and keeps the beat alive in Bangin in London. It picks up from V.4 and gets a bit more funkier than his previous works. A must have in the collection!!!!!!! The beats keeps pumpin and the dance always continues with the works of bad boy bill

1 out of 5 stars No Limit Artifact.......2003-07-20

This album was Master P's second LP off of a tiny independant label call In A Minute. This is really bloody average rap as at this time Master P was selling this out of the back of his call trunk as a hobbie. You can tell how green MAster P is. The only decent song is "Mamas Bad Boy". With horrible production and replayed elements make this so boring music wise. I suggest that no one pick this up unless its to add to your No Limit collection or you are curious. Anyome else who doesn't listen to gangsta rap or No Limit Mc's rap will be very disapointed.

1 out of 5 stars MORE NO LIMIT ARTIFACTS.......2002-03-30

Okay, before I start this review, I have to tell everyone this album was made in the pre-historic days of No Limit. This is before all the platinum success, and cartoony production.
Now I will start my review. Mama's Bad Boy was Master P's second album released on the small independent label In A Minute. The lyrics are of less than average standards. And the production is ridiculous. It sticks to the looped up Marvin Gaye samples and cheap synthesizer sounds. This is partly due to the fact that Master P is in the production credits, and he did a majority of the albums production [sorry, no KLC or Carlos Stephens here]. The only half-way decent tracks are "Shoot 'Em Up", and "I'm Going Big Time". This is only recommended for hardcore No Limit fans and those looking for the man before the success.

4 out of 5 stars Classic Undaground Album!.......2000-04-05

I decided 2 write another review 4 this album since my first one was so short. This is a great hardcore gangsta album that everybody needs in their collection! The best songs are Psycho Rhymes, Bloody Murder, F--- A B---h Cuz I'm Paid, Ooh S--t, and Watch Your A--! This was back in the old No Limit days when they had a more hardcore style! Buy this if you can find it anywhere(it took me a couple years!)

5 out of 5 stars F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.!.......2006-02-02

I've got the original music (including v2 and v3), the books (the best is Heitland's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Book; still in print);
the 22 VHS tapes issued in the early 1990's (a haphazard collection issued in no particular order of episodes that boasted famous guest stars). Can I please get the whole series on DVD? I have not seen Mother Fear toying with Illya (The Children's Day Affair) in over 40 years.

5 out of 5 stars At LAST the complete series ORIGINAL soundtrack, the wait is over!.......2005-07-12

Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.

Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.

And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.

Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.

This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.

Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.

So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

    Amazon.com

For his tenth solo album, the No Limit CEO and amateur baller has released a double-CD set whose content will not surprise listeners who are long familiar with his world and concerns ("Why They Wanna Wish Death," "Thug and Get Paper," and so on). The fact that Master P has released a double CD in 2004 is interesting for two reasons: one, the heyday of the double rap CD (1996 to 1998) is long over; secondly, rappers usually produce double CDs when they are rising toward their peak, not, as with Master P, when they've cooled into veterans of the rap game. (The exception to both rules is, of course, Outkast.) As for the music, both CDs offer average material with the exception of the track featuring TV star (and Master P's son) Lil' Romeo, "20 on Cars 26 on Trucks," which is a No Limit masterpiece. --Charles Mudede

    4 out of 5 stars Transition Is A Motha.......2005-03-17

I can see why P would do a double album, having one side the good and the other the bad. P truly is a homie from the streets who made it, and that's his bad side. Who he used to be in the streets is straight bad and ghetto and everythang. But who he is today as a dad of what 14 or 15yrs now is totally different. You can't really go around drinkin forties and smokin blunts, doin drive-bys and stuff while raising a kid and expect the kid to grow up good. I think P's just trying to make Romeo's life a little easier than his was. So he's making sure Romeo has the chance to do what he wants to (as long as it doesn't put Romeo's life in jeopardy). So those who think he's soldout or gone soft don't trip. It ain't like he's done a song with Timberfake like Dogg did.

If anyone was to say this cd is wack needs to be slapped. You can let every song on both cd's ride. Unlike his last few when you had to press the forward button a few times. I was very, very, very, impressed. The best album he has made since the ice cream man. Let 'em go is the track i feel the most. But for yall to diss this you are not a music fan and you know nothing about the originals south. If all you know is lil jon, and ying yang twins, then really don't know anything about the orginal rappers of the south. So yall haters ya get ya music game up, and rap game too. If you want to say a cd is wack try jay-z black album. Now that is REAL TRASH.

1 out of 5 stars Another Piece of South Crap.......2004-05-07

I really do not understand why this guy has a career other than smart marketing and stupid customers. I have never been impressed by anyone affiliated with No limit aka No talent records but this one is really special. Entertaining or embarassing for him to make his first two singles both rip offs, Jeans? yeah ginuwine did it better and then act a fool with him hopping like a retard but ludacris killed that track. I shows why americans are consumed by consumerism for you to actually have a market for his crap. If you want hollow rap with no skillz or talent or anything buy this but if you want a real good new album cop Ghostface Killa Pretty toney album

4 out of 5 stars SOME OF THE OLE P COMIN BACK.......2004-04-03

I MUST SAY MASTER P CAME HARD WITH THIS ALBUM. I STILL SAY HE NEED TO BRING FIEND BACK. Cause FIEND brought soul to no limit and fiend had his own style. THIS IS THE P I"M USE TO GHETTO HONEY, THAT AINT NOTHIN, RIDE 4 YOU, 20 ON CARS 26 ON TRUCKS, REPRESENT AND IF. WHERE VERY POWERFUL SONGS ON THE BAD SIDE ALBUM IF ANYTHIN LISTEN TO THESE TRACKS. NOW THE GOOD SIDE ALBUM STARTEN WITH ACT A FOOL WHICH IS AIGHT BUT THE NEXT FEW TRACKS WE ALL WE GOT WHICH IS FOLLOWED BY WHO WANT SOME BEATS HARD THAN A MOFO. LET THEM GO IS SOMETHING EVERBODY CAN FEEL IF YOU LISTEN TO IT AND LET IT RIDE. THEN WHY THEY WANNA WISH DEATH IS ONE OF THOSE SONGS YOU FEEL! Everyother song left I didnt mitchen charge it to the game cause this album is something you wanna buy even though P aint came out RIGHT IN A MINUTE BUY THIS.
