DJ Ram Presents Synthphony 2001 : Russian Strike

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Red Flag is undoubtedly one of the most prolific comeback bands of the past two decades. Brothers Mark and Chris Reynolds released their highly influential debut masterpiece back in the late 80’s, ‘Naïve Art,’ and remained semi active throughout the 90’s culminating in a slew of self released singles and albums in ’99 and ’00. Their style has metamorphosed into a darker, moodier, more gothic-like aura, but they remain as popular as ever. B! Machine has caused quite a stir in the modern synthpop world in a relatively short period of time, releasing a barrage of material focusing on thought provokingly atmospheric, analogue soundscapes with slow, somber vocal lines. “Undeceived” is given the DJ Ram club treatment here with amazing results. No Comment is another popular veteran electronic band hailing from Germany. “Phoenix,” taken from their new album, collaborates their lead female vocalist, Franziska Kalb, with ex-Elegant Machinery front man, Robert Enforsen in an intoxicatingly beautiful duet rarely heard in synthpop. Philtron, also hailing from Germany, has been somewhat of an enigma and cult favorite for several years, incorporating a more rock element into recent work. The Echoing Green has been mesmerizing American synth fans for over a decade with their poppy, melodic compositions of faith and spiritual integrity. Lead vocalist and programmer Joey B. injects infectious charisma and boundless energy into every track released, the one included here in no different. Carpe Diem is an upcoming band from Switzerland who mesh darkwave and EBM elements into their contribution, the club hit, “Them.” Sara Noxx has the voice of an angel and has enraptured fans from all points of the globe. Her rising stature in the electronic music world is astounding, especially for a female solo artist. One of her biggest club hits, “Exxtasy,” is given the exclusive DJ Ram interpretation here, for your pleasure. Although they may not be the precise incarnation of the hugely popular act from the late 80’s of a similar name, Celebrate The None has been resurrected by keyboardist Slin Thompson much to the delight of thousands of Celebrate The Nun fans worldwide. A bit confused? Just listen and welcome them back! Beborn Beton is, for sure, one of the most accomplished and respected artists included within. Obviously, we can’t fit a full bio on their achievements here, but we guarantee you’ll love this mix of a favorite from their hit 2000 album, “Fake.” Rounding off the roster is another new band which hails from Spain. Quite unique in the world of synthpop, Klockwork presents a fresh, invigorating sound and style unequaled by many of their contemporaries. “Hopeless World,” from their debut CD “Collage,” is given a special, stripped down Nitzer Ebb-ish treatment by DJ Ram with its sharp percussion and swirling digital madness.

Album Description
Continuing upon our tradition of bringing you, the loyal synthpop listener, the highest quality of exciting, emerging artists coupled with strong production values, we are proud to present this brand new collection of tracks carefully hand-picked to be remixed by DJ Ram. Admittedly, it was an arduous task deciding whom to have him tackle. With the scene becoming more popular and universally embraced by fans of all electronic/alternative genres, we decided to approach those bands whose stylistic tendencies greatly varied from one another; while at the same time, integrated unique concepts that transcend the typical stigmas associated with synth-based music. Believe us, it wasn’t easy narrowing down our list of talent to just 10 acts, but we feel the end result will delight, surprise and, hopefully, inspire you to get up and dance!
