About the Artist
Lawerence Kenny James better know on this CD as Awesome K.J. was born in St. Lucia,lived in New York since 1971. His sound has been inspired both musically and vocally by Neil Armstrong, Rob Stewart, Joe Cocker and Harry Belafonte, who have unusual styles and vocal delivery. Lawerence has developed a unique sound combing Caribbean, Jazz and R&B overtones that distinguishs him from other artists. Lawerence won the first ever Reggae competition in New York, which was Thelma J.J.'s sister and Janet Jackson from the sitcom Good Times. Lawerence's musical background includes: singing, composing, arranging and producing his own and other's work, as well as percussion. He has performes all over New York City and the Caribbean at a variety of fuctions including the Drum and Bugle Corp, Credit Union Auditorium, Albemarie Hall, banquets, hotels and nursing homes. His latest single, "AWESOME K.J." is a joyous anthem celebrating the sounds and rhythm Caribbean and beautiful New York mosaic.
