Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Furious Slugs are Russ Allen, Kevin Anderson, And Tom St Louis. These v intage rockers settled down to play the Blues, but after years of playing Pop Top F orties, Disco (Old School), Country, Rock, and whatever got the gig, it is really d ifficult to classify their sound.

Lead Vocalist and Bass Player Russ Allen's greatest influences have been Paul McCar tney, Dusty Hill, Getty Lee, Billy Idol, and Robert Plant.

Lead Guitar Player and Vocalist Tom St Louis' main influences have been Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Eric Johnson.

The drummer, Kevin Anderson is a Charlie Watts fan and has styled his own drumming in the same rock solid manner.

5 out of 5 stars A really great album, a fantastic example of the genre.......2006-04-14

This music is great. The attitude is great. The lyrics are great. Track this down and listen, if to nothing else, to the ending track, Contemplation -- a melancholy and soulful bluebeat organ and horn instrumental that will never leave you.

5 out of 5 stars Their best. Really........2001-12-21

I kept hearing "this is the Slackers' best CD" but hadn't ever heard it. I had all of the other CDs and loved 'em, and couldn't believe that those albums don't live up to this, their debut. Then I got this album, and realized everyone was right. As great as their other albums are, the songwriting and arrangements here are incredible, and even make up for the less-than-stellar early-90s production. If you liked their other albums (or liked them in concert) you'll love this one. Pure genius. I can't ever see myself getting sick of this album.

5 out of 5 stars i know that you know that i know that you don't know i.......2001-08-01

Ahh the Slackers. My favourite ska band. Purveyors of what saxophonist Dave Hillyard refers to as 'the Jamaican music known as the Ska, the Rocksteady, and the Reggae'. If I had to pick a favourite Slackers album, it would be this. Or the Question. Or Redlight. Hmm. Anyway, Better Late Than Never features an expanded line up, including King 'Skinnerbox/Stubborn All-Stars' Django, with Victor Rice in the producers chair. The result is a somewhat more laidback sound than the others (if that's possible), ie perfect summer music. If I had to name a stand out track, I'd have to say 'You don't Know I', or '....'. Just buy it. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this, but seeing how this item is currently unavailable, one place you can try is from Moon Ska Europe, still going strong.

5 out of 5 stars Best Album: "The Question" vs. "Better Late Than Never".......2000-06-03

I just got this and i love it to death! The Slackers are an amazing band and along with The Question, this album proves that Ska is here to stay, and the traditional Jamaican sound is just as good now as it was Thirty Years Ago. I can't tell which one i like better though, The Question or Better Late Then Never. if you like ska, then get both of them. Redlight is also very good. hell, the Slackers are very good.

        5 out of 5 stars great cd!.......2000-05-14

The Slackers are one of my favorite ska bands, and out of all their albums (Redlight, The Question), i highly highly recommend Better Late Than Never. The vocals are amazing on this cd especially on "Our Day Will Come" featuring Doreen Shaffer. i hope this review helps...and i'd definetely recommend buying this cd.

3 out of 5 stars Nice Compilation of Rare Material.......2006-03-22

Better Late than Never is a nice collection of guitarist Mitch Perry's work with lesser-known bands 7% Solution and Badd Boyz, the latter featuring Paul Shortino of Rough Cutt fame on vocals. Mitch Perry is best known for his work with Keel, MSG, and the always metal Cher, but his work with the bands featured on Better Late than Never deserves some attention.

Even with better than average guitar work, the 7% Solution material is pretty standard hair metal fare with emphasis on testosterone rather than ballads. The Badd Boyz material is the real treat. The songs lean more towards the melodic hard rock style, which suits Paul Shortino's voice perfectly. Contrary to the previous reviewer's statement, Better Late than Never does not contain full albums by both bands. The disc's total running time is 43 minutes, so you're getting EP-length material at best from each band.

Better Late than Never is an essential release for Mitch Perry fans, and 80's rock/metal fans should find it a nice addition to their collections as well.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant To Say The Least.......2001-07-12

Mitch Perry is one of the most underated guitarists of our generation. He has done stellar work on many artists albums, such as KEEL,HEAVEN,MSG etc. Along with being a touring guitarist for such artists as CHER, MSG, and most recently for Johnny Winter or Edgar Winter, I forget which one. This is a great CD which I paid an arm and leg for last year on ebay... 2 fantastic groups 7%solution make up for the first part of the CD then Badd Boyz featuring legendary singer (Paul Shortino) on vocals. To bad neither of these groups took off. Very strong songs throughout. Also Mitch's latest solo cd is stunning to say the least. Mitch has done stellar work for many years, let's hope he finally get's the breakthrough he most definatley deserves. Again, this is 2 groups Mitch was in, and both full cd's on put on this release. ABSOLUTLEY KILLER RELEASE.
