Amazon.com's Best of 2000
As a controversial artist who's confounded and even repelled fans, Sinead O'Connor returns with a pop triumph. Demonstrating an ability to move fluidly from raucous rock to ethereal reggae, O'Connor's pop sensibilities sparkle without sacrificing her hard-won wisdom and spiritual enlightenment. One of the best albums I've bought, period!.......2007-06-27
This is a fantastic album. I've been listening to it repeatedly and although I have preferences in terms of songs, I don't think there is one "weak" song on the entire album. It's the new soundtrack to my life :).
this CD was ok.......2007-06-09
I like the CD but I would not buy it again
She's not just "that bald-headed chick from Ireland".......2006-01-04
A great album. The singles "No Man's Woman" is poignant and "Jealous" is an immaculately beautiful ballad. There are some great songs on this disc; they work even better as a collection. A great showcase of O'Connor's angelic voice. Lyrics in booklet.
Her Healing Room .......2005-11-08
Her first full-length album in 6 years, her last release was in 1994 with the beautiful "Universal Mother" which received positive reviews but suffered from O'Connor's reckless behavior at the time. Well, this time around she turns a little religious than on her previous records. The opening track "The Healing Room" features a baby's laughter (O'Connor's own child) which is a nice lullaby. Her abilities as an emotional performer has always separated her from the norm, it's unusual to come across a human who's this good at expressing her emotions through music. The lead single "Jealous" is stunning, mainly because of O'Connor's breathtaking vocal loops, she sounds lonely and afraid, but then again, when doesn't she? Sinéad is indeed a master of emotions. She often sounds hurt and abandoned, songs like "Dancing Lessons" and "Hold Back the Night" is timeless portraits of human longing and suffering, but on songs like "No Man's Woman" and "Daddy I'm Fine" she defies her anger and recoils. On "The Lamb's Book of Life" she asks for forgiveness from her fans: "I know that I've done many things/ to give you reasons not to listen to me/ especially as I've have been so angry/ but if you knew me/ maybe you would understand me". When it all comes down to it, O'Connor returns with a strong conviction, but she often sounds lonely and afraid, but she remains one-of-a-kind performer.

Customer Reviews:
Two tracks I really like.......2007-07-21
The Mission Impossible theme is performed well.
The Fireball theme is actually much improved on this version. I prefer the orchestra and the vocals over the original.
Quantity Over Quality.......2007-01-15
As a musician myself, I know too well that one of the most important ingredients in ANY performance (live or recorded) is passion. The recordings here generally lack the same passion and sheer drama of the originals. Much of the instrumentation has been reduced to a cheezy, thin, plastic synthesized replica. The performances are simply a watered-down lackluster version of the classic originals. If it were not for the sheer volume of tracks compiled here, I would have rated the comp only "one star".
Mediocre.......2006-05-17
The sound quality for this collection isn't much better than the samples offered by Amazon.
One Hundred Greatest TV Themes.......2005-08-06
I have watched almost all the shows that are on these 4 cd's. Many were made before I started watching TV. Most I've seen once or twice before.
Pretty close to original recordings.......2005-07-24
Definitely not as good as the originals. You'll probably notice the slight differences since it's stuff you saw and listened to every week or everyday in reruns growing up, but it's still an amazing collection.

The Twelve Gifts of Birth - Music.......2006-03-01
I have given numerous copies of the book as a gift to all my friends who are first-time grandmothers to give to their new grandchid and was unaware of the music that now can accompany the book. I love it! Such wonderful positive messages and great sing along - not only for children, but for adults too. I bought one CD for my grandchildren and then ordered five more for gifts for adults and children. If everyone grew up listening to these messages how wonderful it would be!
Great Music for Adults, Too!!!.......2004-11-25
This CD is wonderful. There is such a great mixture of styles and everyone can enjoy it! I actually cried because it was so beautiful...and I'm not a mushy kind of gal!! It's a must-have no matter if you have/work with children or not.
Music for everyone!.......2004-10-30
This CD, although especially good for children, is music for everyone to enjoy. The themes in the music remind us to be positive and kind people in a busy, hectic world. This CD deserves more attention!!!
A Breath of Fresh Air.......2004-09-29
This CD will entertain and stimulate you and your child for years to come. The melodies are captivating, and the rhythms are so enticing they will get your feet tapping and your hands clapping. The Twelve Gifts of Birth is a wonderful CD for all ages!
Beautiful Music.......2004-09-14
As a music educator, I highly recommend this CD and the book that it is based on. The music is powerful and inspirational, and it is easy for youth and adults to sing along together. It would be wonderful to have more quality music CD's such as this one...to replace the tired Raffi and other pop culture children's music icons.

Faith and Courage.......2000-07-17
A couple of years ago I was looking through my sister's tape collection and saw that she had Sinead O'Connor's "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" album. I remember whenever I would see Sinead's video for "Nothing Compares To U" I would always make fun of it and call her "Skinhead" O'Connor and names like that, although I secretly liked the song. I enjoy new music and borrowed my sister's tape and found out that what she had was a great album. I soon became a fan and now own all of her albums. Due to controversy, Sinead's work has always been overlooked. How many people have heard her excellent "Gospel Oak EP" from 1997? "Faith and Courage" follows Sinead's high standards and hopefully will allow a wider range of people to give her music a chance. Each track is powerful. Favorites include: "Dancing Shoes",""Jealous" and "Emma's Song." This is definitely the best album of her career and is worth a listen. I hope people will forgive Sinead and give this album and her music a chance.
A Courageous Work of Faith.......2000-07-09
This somewhat retrospective full length album from Ms O'Conner stands in direct contrast to her real life controversy. What with the Pope incident , the nun incident and of course her most recent declaration of being a lesbian.
In that regard, "No Man's Woman" may seem like a self affirmation of her sexaulity? Whatever. Beyond these politicking, is an album full of gems- even on first play.
Personal favourites include "Jealous" and the raggae-tinged first track "The Healing Room". Loved also the fierce tenacity of "Hold Back the Night" which incidentally, was the only track in the album not written by Ms O'Conner.
A brilliant album that only gets better with repeated listening.
