Stardust Cowboy
Editorial Reviews
LA Times, October 2000
"A progressive country approach that alternates sprightly Bakersfield twang with Chris Isaak-style moodiness and swelling, Roy Orbison-inspired romanticism."
Country Reviw Magazine & web site, July 2000
"...cuts through moods and styles all punctuated with a clear tenor voice. The music remains consistent. Consistently good."
Album Description
Classic sounds mixed with a 60's secret-agent vibe and well-crafted songs highlight this critically acclaimed singer's debut release. Marc Corey Lee's crystal tenor voice and his stories of love and heartache mix with a retro-influenced sound to create on of the years most original and fresh releases. Country in style, but filled with influences that range from the very Orbison-esque "When You're Gone" to the 60's-era elegant country sound of "Silently Falling." Marc wrote all 10 songs and produced the disc. It was named one of the "Top 10 Albums Of The Year" by Nashville's own IN REVIEW Magazine. Some of these tracks have appeared in movies and television, including the recently-released and award-winning indie film, "Erosion."

Guitar player's friend........2005-04-22
The title of my review describes this album to a T. In the mid 1970's, I was "learning" to play the guitar. The simplistic styling and rhythm of Jonathan Edwards' work allowed me the opportunity to "play along", and pick-up a straight forward, soft style of guitar playing. I had not heard this recording for quite sometime, but it still sounds as fresh to me in the 21st century as it did in the 70's. Not sure what ol' JE is doing these day, but, for me, he helped to contributed to my love of playing the guitar, as well as his work. At least, that's what I call it when my wife asks me about the noise I'm making...
Honky- Tonk Stardust Cowboy.......2005-02-12
I bought this album on vinyl, back in 1971. It has always been one of my top 5 L.P.s of all times. Every where I would go, if I'd find a used copy, in fair shape, I would buy it. I could not understand why this, his best album, was never released on C.D.. Today I was surfing the internet and came across it, on C.D., to my surprise. Needless to say I ordered it immediately. I would recommend it to people who like, country, folk, rock etc. It is just a great album with great songs. You will not be disappointed!
A Heartfelt, Personal Album that can Warm the Soul!.......2005-01-03
My mother had the original vinyl of this album when I was a child and I used to love pulling it out of her collection and look at it. It got destroyed due to me handeling it to death..as I did with all her other records. I replaced all of my mothers LPs in my late teens except for this one. It came as a total shock to be browsing through my favorite CD outlet in Downey when I came across the newly released CD of it! I bought it immediately.
"Honkey Tonk Stardust Cowboy" is one of the best albums of the singer/songwriter era you're ever going to hear. Released in 1972 it got no promotion due to the fact that it had no single like "Sunshine" to give it some backup. This album is even better than his debut and a perfect accompaniment for a trip in your car. The songs mold together so perfectly you'd think you were listening to a "concept" album...and it is in it's own way. All the tracks are beautiful and Edwards is a total virtuoso on the mouth harp...the harmonica. Check out his playing on "Morning Train" and "Sugar Babe." "That's What Our Life Is" closes the album perfectly and will bring tears to your eyes. For any fan of early '70s folk this album is an uexpected gem!
One of the Best Ever.......2003-07-27
I never owned this particular album, but had all of his others. I ordered it on the strength of the other reviews and my belief that one can never go wrong with JE. I have been searching for years to find all his works on CD, so had to have this one. This one is a gem! JE is unique in his sound and the versatility of his talent. From the mournful ballads to the rollicking honky-tonk sound, this is an artist who truly loves his craft. I find that over the years many of his songs are still my favorites and even the memory of them brings about a longing to give a listen. Thank goodness Atlantic records released this wonderful album. I hope they will continue by reissuing "Have Yourself a Good Time For Me", "Rocking Chair", and "Sailboat." This particular album, however, is truly a delight to listen to. Any JE fan will not be disappointed with this one!
Oops! My mistake on last review.......2003-04-17
That first recording was right above Stardust on the listing, I don't know how I missed it. Simple "Jonathan Edwards"... I don't know where I got "Capricorn" from, as written on my old tape, but maybe that was the label? Anyway, fantastic! I can get my old faves.

"Paralyzed" With Identifiable Words.......2006-01-29
The Legendary Stardust Cowboy (or simply "Ledge") is one of the most amazing singers ever recorded professionally. I have been a fan ever since hearing him belt out his classic "Paralyzed" years ago. This is a two CD set featuring 25 new songs by the Ledge. They are all manic or at the very least strange. Most are amusingly listenable although I did not find the power ballad (of sorts) "Linda" very palatable for some reason.
I found the extremely jarring and disjointed "Geiger Counter" and "Egyptian Maiden" to be among the most entertaining tracks, while I found the spoken word (song-poem?) "Someone Took The Yellow From My Egg" to be perhaps the strangest thing I have ever heard on a commercially released CD (that is not to say it's good, it is one of the less inspired songs on the set, actually, but it is very peculiar.) My favorite song on the CD has to be "World's Worst Titles" a song of song titles too bad or strange for even the Ledge to use (for example, "My Baby is Shaped Like an Ironing Board"). For pure surrealism set to music, look no further.
The package is quite nice and includes a lengthy pamphlet (some of which is in French!) describing the life of the Legendary Stardust Cowboy, and true fans will not want to miss it. These recordings will never have wide commercial appeal, but like all good outsider music, that inherently is their appeal. I recommend this CD set to anyone who wants to broaden their musical horizons beyond the mundane.

Album Description
With his 1968 Billboard top 100 hit "Paralyzed", live appearance on NBC's Laugh-In in 1969 ( A performance which Rolling Stone magazine recently declares "One of the Greatest Moments in Rock and Roll TV), the Legendary Stardust Cowboy has a reputation as one of the wildest, most unique, and down-right weirdest rock and rollers ever!! The "Ledge" has also been the object of fanatical devotion by rockers such as David Bowie (who used the Ledg'es "Stardust" moniker for his own Ziggy Stardust character). And in a recent interview by Tim Steil of the Chicago Tribune, Bowie said "He (LSC) became part of the many inspirations for Ziggy, and I'm proud to say i still play his records to this day". and went on to say, "The Ledge is a true great of American music."
Bughouse Records is proud to bring to you "The Legendary Stardust Cowboy: Live In Chicago!" This rare recording also features the Stardust Cowboy's smokin' backup band which includes guitarist Frank Novicki, drummer Mike Burns, and former Dead Kennedys bassist, Klaus Fluoride. So Look out! cause the Ledge is ready to hit the stage, bugle in hand, ready to entertain the pants off you...
Customer Reviews:
Eh..........2005-06-29
I love raw and primative music. Hasil Adkins, the Shaggs, and the Monks all have treasured spots in my CD wallet. However, this has its moments but is just a bit too primative at times. It's funny every now and than and jaw dropping, but it's just a bit too incoherent. Seeing him live is probably a funner experiance than listening to him. Certainly weird and wild, but not really listenable. If you like the Ledge, you'll like this disc. If you find him to be incoherant and annoying, this will certainly not change your opinion. Not bad by all means, but theres so much better primative music out there you can listen to.
The Ledge Rocks The House.......2004-07-10
I have been a fan of The Ledge since I was first introduced to "Paralyzed" many years ago. I had no idea that so many other people found The Ledge fascinating and entertaining until recently and I think that is a wonderful thing. Some will find his music confusing or hard to appreciate, but if you can see the beauty of it, it is timeless. I think that I have a complete catalog of Ledge material, but have never seen him live. This CD is the best simulation of that experience available. The band is great and The Ledge is in fine form, featuring not only brilliant vocalizations, but excellent trumpet work (the solo on "Paralyzed" is still one of the most entertaining bits of musical genius in history).
Standouts include not only the very up-tempo version of "Ghost riders In The Sky" to open the show, but also (of course) "Paralyzed", and "Standing In A Trashcan (Thinking Of You)". The sound quality is good, and the audience is very enthusiastic.
The Ledge isn't for everybody, but if you like borderline insanity in a live Psychobilly act, this CD can't be beat!
Legendary Garbage Cowboy!!!.......2004-04-02
This is awful. The band is okay, but Ledge is just downright terrible! Ledge has as much musical talent as a turkey pot pie and to buy this CD would be enough to warrant a straight jacket. A friend of mine at work has it and we listened to it a few times and I get nauseous every time. All Ledge does is stand up there and scream nonsensical lyrics into the mic. It's ridiculous. Don't buy, spend your money on some tropical fish instead.
Come on people..........2003-12-11
...it's "The Ledge." Having grown up in the S.F. Bay Area, and having been exposed to "Retro-rocket Back To Earth" at an early age and having seen "The Ledge" lurking around Streetlight Records in San Jose, I can honsetly say that you aren't missing much here. The Ledge is as awful as he's always been. The Godfather of psychobilly? Hardly. You want to go for the genuine article, get ANYTHING by Hasil Adkins. He is/was the epitome of the "psycho" in billy (if you are going to stick with that term anyway). The Ledge is a clear-cut example of someone ripping off Hasil. Too bad there are those who know what a hack The Ledge actually is. You want something that is quality? Get ANYTHING by Ronnie Dawson.
At any rate, do yourself a favor and avoid this one. It bl*ws as badly as The Ledge himself.
Grandpappy to Psychobilly Y'all!.......2002-06-17
Got this totally on accident..and I gotta tell you..WOW! I mean we have all heard Johnny Cash's 'Ghost Riders in the Sky', but not quite like this my friends. Follow that up with 'Paralyzed' and you will be anything but, you'll want to dust off them boots and find the seediest[]bar you can!
This is unreal, had no clue about the band or anything and though, gee, this is very psychobilly inn't? Well, shut my mouth...it's the GODFATHER of psychobilly y'all!
Amazing flurry of steel guitars and a wailin' footstompin; good time...wish I'd been there! Here's the added bonus...a back up band consisting of Dead Kennedy members?
Honestly, buy this....take it home, crack open a Lone star and cross over into this light becuase..truly, all are welcome.
PSST...incidentally, this is where Bowie got his Ziggy persona idea...pass it on!
YEE HAW!

Fresh, fun, and fantastic!!!!.......2001-05-23
The CD is great!!! The lyrics are powerful, full of love, pain, sorrow and energy. The music is a combo of blues, country, a little bit of rock and everything in between. This CD is a favorite with me and my children and is always a request in the car over Nsync and the other "kiddie bands" which says alot coming from kids under 10. If you're a fan of country this CD is right up your alley, if you're a fan of blues this CD is right up your alley, whatever your choice of music tastes are, this CD will meet each with a pleasurable sound. I can't wait to hear his next CD and the one after that. Great!
Marc Corey Lee - "Stardust Cowboy".......2001-05-23
A remarkable CD which demonstrates the high quality and ranges of Marc Corey Lee's voice. This CD demonstrates Marc wonderful talents not only as a singer, but that of a songwriter. This CD makes the commute to and from work more pleasant. Thank you Marc!!!

AWESOME.......2001-05-23
KNOWING MARC FOR YEARS AND HOPING ONE DAY HE WOULD HAVE A CD OUT, I WAS MORE THAN AMAZED AT THIS CD. TO ME GOOD MUSIC IS NOT ONLY THE WORDS, BUT ALSO THE MUSIC. HE IS A VERY TALENTED SINGER AND I LOVE THE VARIETY OF HIS MUSIC. LETS HOPE MARC HAS MORE CD'S IN THE FUTURE FOR US TO PURCHASE.

Album Description
The Legendary Stardust Cowboy is without a doubt one of the craziest singers ever. The New Rose catalog features a lot of weirdoes and wild men (GG Allin, Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Charlie Feathers and more), but the Legendary Stardust Cowboy is a special kind, some kind of a Chet Atkins/Johnny Cash hybrid on acid, a strange character halfway between a John Wayne movie and the 2001 Space Odyssey. 2 CD set. 2005.
