"...techno how I think it was meant to be by its creators, a tool for creating an atmosphere."

From the Artist
I’ve been creating music for over twenty years now with the last decade or so of that being dedicated to electronic music. I’m deeply intrigued by the idea of creating soundscapes and memorable grooves. A lot of artists can create or find interesting sounds, but I find there is very little out there that really has a groove to it; something you can get into; something that makes you bob your head or tap your foot.

I created Radiophonic Oddity mainly as a means of expression. I had... read more

Album Description
Radiophonic Oddity is a journey through electronic music. It touches on a variety of styles including Techno, Drum ‘n’ Bass, Downbeat, and Electronica. GodsOfMusic.com hailed the track “Noontime” as “techno how it was meant to be by its creators; a tool for creating an atmosphere.”

SIM_01 does an excellent job of transitioning from style to style. Though each song is unique, they are undoubtedly from the same creative mind.

    5 out of 5 stars Radiophonic Addiction!.......2001-02-14

This is an incredible Disc. I found that track after track the music was energized and aggressive. Listening in the car I was intrigued by the maze of methods and music created. But found my self just hammered once I plunked the CD in my DiscMan. The stereo effects nearly had me cross-eyed. This is quite simply one of the best electronic CDs I own.

5 out of 5 stars Full of ambiance, focus and direction.......2001-02-10

Radiophonic Oddity is the first release by Sim_01 (aka producer and
mixmaster Chris Simental). How is it? In short, it's spectacular. The
disk spans eight tracks, beginning in the edgy realm of
"Twilight" and arriving at a conclusion in the hopeful and
perseverant strains of "Metro Morning". Along the way, we
are treated to some top notch techo--but not like anything to which
you're probably accustomed. This is electronic music that is highly
listenable and full of ambiance, focus and direction. You're in for a
treat if you try it with your best headphones and the lights turned
down. Sim_01 builds exacting stereophonic scenery upon his musical
stage. With each track you will find yourself inside a unique sonic
realm, a place with a specific sense of time, space and mood. My
favorites are "Bring Me" on track 2 and "Noontime"
on track 3, although there isn't a weak track on the disk. You owe it
to yourself to check out this disk. ...

5 out of 5 stars Richly layered tapestry.......2001-02-10

SIM_01's music is a richly layered tapestry of groovy drums 'n' bass, vintage analog synth sounds, and exotic nuances. Meticulous craftsmanship crowns each track.

5 out of 5 stars Radiophonic Oddity is radioactive!.......2001-02-09

My friend asked me to check out this CD, and I got hooked on it right away! The music is amazingly complex and easy to listen to at the same time. It's energizing, and a heavy shot of bass makes it really addictive. Sim_01 applies considerable technical mastery to every track. Plus, a sly sense of humor (Twilight), emotional texture (Bring Me), and an ability to create intriguing landscapes with sound (Metro Morning) pull you in and make you want to listen over and over. Cyclotron is my favorite track because every time I play it I hear new layers in it and I want to dance around like a little kid.

5 out of 5 stars This CD is Awesome!!.......2001-02-08

Radiophonic Oddity is good solid techo all the way through. Every song is one you will want to listen to again and again to examine the fullness of sound and technique. A very unique presentation. I love it.
