Editorial Reviews
From the Artist
Chemistry Tanzer |Words & Keys Willie | Color Steve Mojica | Base Larry Dolan | Time Industry was formed April of 1997 with one intent
music. Fusing all of the elements of progressive, alternative, industrial Music, and art into a collective consciousness, nothing could stand in its way.
From the first time Industry performed live, it was blatantly obvious that this was a band that would bring back what had been lost in live music: pure, raw, powerful, intense energy channeled from the metaphysical realm.
Industry has performed with such acts as Cold , Kittie, Papa Roach,Perfect Murder Music, Sevendust, Slipknot, Static X, and V.A.S.T. to name few.
Accolades and accomplishments include one of the longest running local bands on Xtreme Radios (107.5) It hurts when I pee. Industry successfully wrote / arranged / produced / engineered / mastered / released its first album Namesake with independent distribution through Sam Goodys, Tower, Wow!, & Odyssey.
Fueled by the reception of Namesake, Industry is on a collision course with commerce, dragging you into its world of perception. Allow yourself a moment of awareness

Fans of British composer Nitin Sawhney excited to see his name connected to this soundtrack should be aware that Sawhney's music accounts for just 26 minutes of this nearly 56-minute recording. In addition, most of the 12 tracks he contributes are plot-advancing cues, not fully realized compositions, which clock in at under two minutes (four run one minute or less). Eight other artists are represented here, including vocalist Susheela Raman with two tracks found on past solo recordings. Other selections range from '60s Indian vocalist Geeta Dutt and the traditional chant of Lakhan Das ("Baul Song") to Argentina's Federico Aubele ("Postales") and a brief rap from Mykill Miers. The divergent musical sources reflect the old world/new world conflicts that entangle an Indian family following a move from Calcutta to New York City in a film from respected director Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding). For his part, Sawhney (principally using acoustic guitar and strings, often embellished with Indian vocalese and instrumentation) lends elegant, modern-traditional brushstrokes to the film's more reflective moments that underscore the characters' cultural conflicts. It is a broadly varied recording that on occasion beautifully captures--usually all too briefly--moments of deep inner searching. The disc concludes with "Falling," Sawhney's collaboration with Matt Hales from Aqualung, from Sawhney's 2003 release Human. --Terry Wood
Album Description
With The Namesake, Mira Nair found ways to link New York and Calcutta not only visually, but via sound as well. Like the story itself, the film's soundtrack traverses both time and cultures. "I love Indian classical music and I wanted to link that classical sound with the pulsating New York sound of today," comments Nair. "So the soundtrack not only crosses 25 years of time but also moves from Bengali folk music, Geeta Dutt's 'Jhiri Jhiri Choyetali' to hip-hop, 'The Chosen One.' And then there is Nitin Sawhney's haunting score mixed throughout. This is the privilege of cinema: to bring together the sounds, voices, instruments of that which you love and make it one with image."
Customer Reviews:
Highly recommended.......2007-05-13
Nitin Sawhney is an old hand now at indo-fusion and it is evident in some of the pieces in the soundtrack. He has used various iconic indo-fusion artists such as "State of Bengal" and "Susheela Raman" to bolster the soundtrack.
The pure flute numbers used as the core theme as well as for the titles are excellent. There instrumentals have a lilting quality with an outstanding melody.
The Salil Chowdhury-esque bengali ditty, "Jhiri Jhiri Choyetali" is a gem, sung wonderfully by Geeta Dutt. The kids will love it.
There are also samples of raw Bhatiyali and Baul music and the usual chill out fusion numbers. The Bhatiyali and Baul tracks may or may not appeal in this age of percussion heavy music, but it provides a glimpse into the culture of Bengal.
"Falling", the last fusion track on the album is excellent.
One other number that stands out is Susheela Raman's version of an old bollywood number "Ye Mera Deevanapan hai".
This album comes highly recommended.
Great album, good fusion.......2007-05-13
it's not as spacey as a goa trance album and it won't make you want to do weed while your listening to it, but if you want a beautiful set of fused songs with indian vocal, get this album.
Good sampler of contemporary Indian Music.......2007-05-12
I recently traveled to southern India and was looking for a good sampler of what I heard when I was in India. This was a great taste of the interesting and diverse music of India.
A masterpiece of a movie.......2007-05-12
This soundtrack introduced me to several new artists, and brought back the magic and wonder of Mira Nair's movie!! This soundtrack and movie are a must to own!!
beautiful.............2007-04-27
The soundtrack was probably one of the most evocatively beautiful qualities in Mira Nair's THE NAMESAKE. For starters, "The Namesake Title Sequence" is so haunting and it really draws you into the story. Of course, a great deal of the songs, featured here, hint at the emotions and experiences of the Gangulis, the parents of the main character, Googol. "Shoes To America" is warm and humorous. This was when Googol's parents are first being introduced. I can still see his mother, Ashima, trying on the sturdy shoes of her future husband. The rest of the soundtrack makes me recall other wonderful moments from this story. There are elements of the soundtrack that deviate from the Eastern feeling of the film. "The Chosen One," a powerful rap, brings us forward, thirty years in this family's legacy. I won't give away plot elements here. I really reccomend this beautiful soundtrack, and I also reccomend that you go see the film that was its inspiration. You certainly won't be disappointed!

Classic.......2004-11-01
This album is a classic. The songs all flow together so it's kind of hard to rate each song, but my favorite songs are Cloverland, Sippin' Codine, and Smokin' and Leanin'. I bought All Work No Play and was dissapointed, so I'd definitely recommend this over that. It's the best album I've gotten in a long time. It kind of grew on me.
Getting DJ SCREW.......2002-05-19
To anyone that really lives in Houston Texas, you know all the places to get screw. Amazon has done a good job on getting his mixes out there to the world. 3 in the morning, is a good cd, own a copy, but the Screws mixes on Point Blank is the best, if you like this album you will definitly like the point blank mix. It is hard to get, but if you (really) live in Houston you can find it, don't listen to screw like I used to got older but still good to kick back to once in a while.

DJ SCREW -LEGEND-RULES!.......2004-06-10
GOTTA LOVE DJ SCREW AND THE DOPE HOUSE CREW! LOVE, IN THE HOUSE TONIGHT AND LEGEND. YOU HAVENT HEARD RAP UNTIL YOU HEAR SOME SONG YOU KNOW, CHOPPED AND SCREWED. THE BEST DJ EVER, MISS YA SCREW. SCREWSTONE TEXAS! ALL THE GOOD RAPPERS ARE DEAD OR IN JAIL. SENTIMENTAL VALUE IS GOOD CD TOO!
Tha Beginning.......2004-03-17
For those who put DJ Screw down and saying that Micheal Watts is better doesn't know the game as well as yall think. First of all you have to come in the game with your own style and not use someone else's. I'm not hating on Micheal Watts but Screw did that. He paid the way for many Texas rappers that was trying to get into the door. For those who become so well known off of others invention is much of a non maker for me. I'll always be old school for those who are real with there game. Screw will always be the man and will always hold that title, ( THE LEGEND ) so for all get with it. To be a sucess you have to find your own sucess, and for the ones who steal will always follow. You dig what I'm saying. Some CD's are not as high rated some wanted them to be, but as a person and skills to lead and help others to not follow, one of the Souths best and well above Watts. Its not always how you make your music, its who and Y, (not all about the money sometimes/ Have you ever thought about the love of the music). Peep the game and where it came form before misjudging it.
good but not his best.......2003-12-19
this wasnt one of his best but it still was pretty good. To the guy that said dj michael "5000 watts" was better doesnt know screw at all. 1st off Dj Screw started it all so in my view 5000 watts is a biter and all his records are weak. every member or the S.U.C could freestyle all the rappers that came from there like lil keke,ESG,fat pat,big moe, Al-D have all great rap albums and are mainstream, and know one can chop and screw like the inventor himself DJ Screw get all of the albums you can. The cd title tells all "the legend" nobody well ever be better than screw just like nobody will be a better rapper than 2pac. this is a pretty good cd like his others when you are at that "other level"
D.J. Homicide from Detroit got him'.......2003-07-24
This C.D. was bunk, all tracks sounded the same and gave me a headache,I'm from the east, love the Dirty south sound, but this one......no.
dj mike watts "the new legend".......2003-06-25
dj screw can't mess with dj mike "5000" watts. he's the best dj in the south. he can screw and chop better than screw did. reppin duncan, ok, shout out to tha swishahouse

Album Description
An East/West caravan of interwoven melodies and exotic rhythms carries the timeless and ecstatic words of the Mystic poets, Rumi, Lalla, Ghalib, and the artist's namesake, 15th century Hindu poetess, Mirabai. In the company of world-class musicians, including Glen Velez, Steve Gorn, Eddie Daniels, and Bruce Dunlap; Mirabai's compositions are unique, yet familiar, blending the complexity of Western harmony with the lean melodic and rhythmic beauty of the Indian and Middle Eastern traditions.
Customer Reviews:
I have had quiet ears running down my cheeks on my way to.......2004-05-05
work listening to "this we are now". What a wonderful feeling this is. Melt down and openning of the heart.
A dear friend taught us this song on our pilgrimage in the Sahara desert but listening to it in all its glory with the womens' multilayered voices, strong and ecstatic, brought tears to my eyes. I do not exaggerate, I was ready to die that moment. It was perfect.
All the songs are truly inspired and I'd like to meet the creator of such emotions. Thank you Mirabai!
Stirring songs of Rumi.......2004-01-07
I recieved this CD as a gift and I have given it as a gift to several friends....all of whom have thanked me repeatedly. I am always inspired and uplifted when I listen to this CD. Mirabai's voice has a quality of depth and heart that I haven't heard in a while. Usually I am disappointed when I have heard people singing the words of Rumi...not so here..."This Love" truly captures the quality of the Sufi master in a very stunning combination of eastern music with elements of folk and jazz. I highly recommend it.
Gypsy Jazz.......2003-05-27
I have loved being awakened by Mirabai's music. With just the right mix of world music, jazz and folk, this CD has all the ingredients to make me dance, soothe my heart, and inspire my spirit. Mirabai has a unique and stirring voice, and her musical settings of some of the world's most beautiful mystical poetry deepen and enhance this poetry like no others I have heard. Many of my friends have thanked me for gifting them with this exciting and healing music. I whole-heartedly encourage people to listen to this CD.
Powerful, soulful music.......2002-08-27
This inspired and beautiful CD has a mesmerizing and trascendent quality, consistent with Rumi's writings. There is an immediacy to Mirabai's singing that is both palpable and stirring. She digs way down deep to draw out what she does. I find myself playing it over and over, hearing new elements each time in her delivery and in the jazzy, percussive music played by outstanding artists.
A Divine Note.......2002-08-04
If I want to start my day on a divine note, I cue up Santa Fe singer Mirabai's This Love.
Her renditions of the mystic poets tune me up and propell me between the crack of the daily and into the territory of Rumi,Ghalib, Lalla, and Mirabai, this singer's namesake. Her musical lineage, trained in both eastern and western tradtition, brings us the intimacy of a jazz club, the mystery of inside the tend, and the professionalism of the large stage, creating a genre all her own.
This music is in the key of awe and can serve as background or foreground, if you flow with the sound or listen to the words.

Phenomenal Record.......2002-11-22
Great band. Great album. They album shows some of their influence from NiN and Tool, but they still manage to pound out heavier and more melodic music. "Towards The Surface", "Down", "Bringing Down The Horse", "Distemper" and "Namesake" are phenomenal songs, that you will want to listen to over and over again. The music is very edgy, great use of keyboards, and the lyrics seem to put the songwriters emotions right out for everyone to see/feel. The singer has the ability to convey the songs in a convincing manner. You believe what he's trying to sell. The drums and bass are tight, very solid unit, which is far more important that individual virtuosity. The guitar may be a bit unspectacular, but that's okay, its not what this band is about. The guitarist is still able to create a sound and style that fits the band and the music like a glove. The band also uses odd tech sound effects throughout the album.
The band uses great rock music with dark sounds and themes to create an amazing record. Beautiful album. If you like NiN or Tool, definately check out Industry.
Industry sounds like no other.......2001-06-17
Im a huge fan of industrial hard rock, and i must say that though ive never heard of the band Industry before i took a chance on the album title, i found that they have a sound that i wasnt expecting at all, it blew me away...if war could be poetic then you will find it on Namesake, something disturbing and perplexing about it. The band is definately heavy, but mixes a myriad of sounds to set them apart, a touch of NIN, King Crimson, Tool and a little piano here and there, but i cant peg these guys, they have a unique, very new sound...i dont know anything about them, there no picture on the album or anything. pretty mysterious. ....but i want to know more. do yourself the favor and pick this one up, and if you find out anything more about these guys, please post it somewhere...they are on their way up for sure!

Every song is beautifully written and performed. I've been listening to this cd for the last 6 years and it still touches me deep inside.
Good first CD, shows great promise.......2001-01-30
"On a Wing & a Prayer" is inspiring and beautiful. I went to college with Angela Daigle and remember being delightfully surprised the first time I heard her sing. When I stumbled across this CD I bought it immediately and was not disappointed. I hope you will enjoy it and be as blessed as I have been by it.
