Great band, great sound!.......2006-07-22

I've been listening to these guys for the past 2 years or whenever they first started recording stuff and putting it up online (mainly because of my cousin T.J.), and I have to say as time has passed, I have become more and more impressed with their stuff. Their sound has matured into a unique and respectable blend of intelligent pop, rock, and emo, and their lyrics have become rock-solid, full of emotion yet not being overly sappy or depressing.

After seeing them perform twice live, with the first show being the night after the lead singer had been hospitalized for an evening, I have to say that they sound amazing live and in on C.D., and that they are great guys to boot! BUY THIS ALBUM! It's worth every penny!

this is the best cd I have heard in a very long time. ALL of the songs are beautiful, both lyrics and sound. My favorites are Silhouettes, Liars and Battlelines, The Blue Roses, Poison Like Your Own, Pop Destroyed the Scene, The Weekend, and Set the Sails Red Beret. As you can see, pretty much all of them.

If you like bands such as Waking Ashland, Sherwood, Snow Patrol, Mae, any stuff like that, I guarantee you'll like Rookie of the Year.

This Band deserve tons of success, they are amazing guys and this album rocks, i ordered it byut it taken 6 weeks to get ti across to the UK but it going to be well worth the wait BUY IT!!

I greatly respect this album. It is partially acoustic (often in the beginning of a song before it switches to very intelligent rock), but also has some ambience to it. Many songs have a sort of melancholy, emo sound but are so musically complex at the same time.
The lyrics as well are amazing. They are deep, but understandable at the same time.
This CD is highly recommended for fans of Mae, Copeland, Waking Ashland, Ben Folds, and the list goes on. They bring a completely new sound to the scene, and I have to say... it sounds great.

Too beautiful for words(but I'll give it my best shot), "Fairy Dreams - Magical Lullabies" is a soft, and soothing mix of traditonal folk lullabies, with a special added touch of warmth by Linda Ronstadt. It is music that will lull anybody into a beautiful state of relaxation, and would be a beautiful bonding experience for any parent and child. Just sit back in that rocker, hold your child in your lap and let this album work it's magical spell on you.

Opening with the instumental "Winter Light", Ronstadt's mesmerizing collaboration with esteemed composer Zbigniew Preisner("Three Colors Trilogy/The Decalogue"),you are already transfixed.New and wonderfullly sweet renditions of "Hush Little Baby","Moon and Me","All The World Is Sleeping","Dream a Beautiful Dream" and "Sleep Baby Sleep" are just a few of the songs that will stay with you for sometime afterwards.(See buying info for a complete list of songs, where you may also listen to some samples).You may even stay up and listen again long after the little ones are fast asleep.

Eerie and Soothing.......2004-07-11

This peticular track is a very sexy song, that I find to be quite intoxicating to listen to. If you get into the lyrics and imagine a story to go along with it, you'll kinda spook yourself out.

Great single... but BUY THE ALBUM :).......2003-05-02

This was my introduction to Shivaree... half watching a music video show one morning... sick of the same old... then hearing this magnificent song. Ambrosia's voice is so angelic, and the songwriting/playing/arrangements are perfect.

Don't buy the single - BUY THE WHOLE ALBUM !! you will not regret it. When you've bought "I Oughtta Give you a shot..." and fallen in love with the band, buy "Rough Dreams" - you'll love it as well :)
