A must-buy for any teen or twentysomething who considers themselves the least bit cool. With Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore swopping leads, it's a beautifully paced disc exploding with beatific beats, white-noise assaults and great, grungy pop ("Sugar Kane," "Chapel Hill"). --Jeff Bateman --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.
Album Description
1998 Japanese reissue on Geffen of their 1992 album with 'Stalker' added as a hidden bonus track. 16 tracks total, also featuring the singles '100%', 'Youth Against Fascism' and 'Sugar Kane'. --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

If film and music fans sometimes wonder why soundtracks are often little more than pastiches of past pop hits and chart flavors of the moment, it's largely due to the blockbuster success of releases like this collection from 1987's surprise Patrcik Swayze/Jennifer Grey romantic hit. The film's retro-romantic concerns came shrewdly wrapped in a (largely manufactured) dance craze conceit tailor-made for such pop chestnuts as the Ronettes' "Be My Baby," the Zodiacs' "Stay," and the Five Satins' "In the Still of the Night." Mickey and Sylvia once again argued that "Love Is Strange"--if not quite as strained as Swayze's own attempt at balladry, "She's Like the Wind." Eric Carmen's "Hungry Eyes" showcased the former Raspberries leader to good effect, but the real soundtrack sweepstakes winner here was the Jennifer Warnes/Bill Medley duet "(I've Had) The Time of My Life." That performance not only won the Best Original Song Oscar the following year, but became one of the era's most performed songs and a ubiquitous radio staple. --Jerry McCulley

A Nice Album........2007-01-26
It really feels good to have this album. I know this should come with the hits not included in the first volume but it's nice. This is a nice addition to the soundtracks collection.
Still love the movie ... still love the soundtrack.......2006-11-03
"Dirty Dancing" is still one of my favorite movies of all time. It managed to have a plot and wonderful music. You just can't sit still when this music is playing.

While Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap sounds like every other AC/DC album, it is distinguished by a lyrical puerility spectacular even by Bon Scott's standards. Two tracks--"Love at First Feel" and "Squealer"--are ruminations on the morality of sex with schoolgirls. "Big Balls," ostensibly a narrative from the perspective of an aristocrat socialite, is actually a somewhat labored excuse for the band to chant "We've got big balls." This juvenile posturing was, to a large degree, AC/DC winding up their burgeoning foreign audience by playing to stereotypical expectations of Australians. On Dirty Deeds, however, AC/DC try too hard. Only on "Ain't No Fun (Waiting Round to Be a Millionaire)" is Scott's laconic wit deployed to real effect: the sheer glee in the line "Get your fuckin' jumbo jet off my airport!" is almost worth the album's purchase price. --Andrew Mueller

Customer Reviews:
I hate the song Big Balls.......2007-06-27
Everything on this album is fantastic except for Big Balls. How that song ever became a single I will never know.
Back in Black was great, but I prefer Bon Scott's lunatic rants on their earlier records........2007-06-13
I don't think this is really a 5-star record, but it's worth 5-stars to hear Bon Scott's barking about his "big balls" and his willing to play a hit man using 'high voltage'. Although this band is not a punk band, they are one of my all-time favorite punk bands, because they have the spirit. Bon Scott was so original and so amazingly wild.
Good Music.......2007-05-27
AC/DC stormed on the U.S. music scene with Highway to Hell. They toured the country opening for other guitar bands like Kiss. When we found out that AC/DC already had several albums previously released in Australia, well, we were just thrilled. This was one of those albums.
All of these songs are excellent songs with catchy rhythm tracks. The lyrics are attractive to the testosterone laden teenage boy: the title track, Big Balls, Rocker, etc... The chorus of Problem Child was one of the anthems of my teenage years.
What I like most about this band and this CD is Malcolm. He lays down some cool sounding rhythms that are fun and relatively easy to play. I got the tablature from the internet and worked my way through all of these songs. Friday afternoon I like to put this in my CD player and crank up my Seymour Duncans and play along.
Fantastic record but..........2007-02-16
What a bummer, the Australian Release of this record had the one song that really capped off this album. That song was of course, Jailbreak. It was the last song on the record.
It appears to be missing here! Not good. How can you take an absolutely brilliant record like this one and leave off its crowing glory. Jailbreak is one of the Bon Scott era trademark AC/DC songs. Not Impressed with this omission! This is not good. Also the cover is different. The original cover had the closeup of the parrot tattoo on Bon Scott's arm while Angus flipped you the bird in the background (irony?). This new cover makes it look like a Duran Duran record.
I always felt that this record was one of the major Bon Scott era records, along with TNT, Let There Be Rock, and Highway to hell (not just in sales, but in consistency, quality of music and lyrics). Dirty Deeds (first song) and Jailbreak (last song) made it a killer album. My personal favorite song was Ride On.
Definitely a defining album in the AC/DC catalog and one which you should seek to have because even now, 30 years later, it still sounds like the top notch record it was back in the day. It rocks. And remember, if it ain't loud, it's not on...
One Of AC/DC's Best Albums........2006-11-26
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" (ddddc) is by far one of AC/DC's best albums. With Tracks Like "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", "Ride On", and many other good ones AC/DC took their music to a whole new level. I think that Angus Young's guitar in ddddc is better than it is any other AC/DC album, it just seems to talk to you! Deffenatly one of the best rock albums of the 70's.

At a time when experimentation is taboo in most overground rap, that's all Outkast seem intent on executing. Firstly, this double CD has no cohesive link, other than the fact that it sounds like a pair of solo albums stitched together to demo exactly how Andre's yin works to augment Big Boi's yang. Andre 3000's Love Below disc rates as the more eclectic of the two, given that he's turned in his emcee credentials to become a full-on funk-soul-jazz vocalist who mostly sings about items of love ("Happy Valentine's Day"), carnal lust ("Spread"), and female adoration ("Prototype"). Minus the big band schmaltz of "Love Hater" and cheesy cover jobs ("My Favorite Things"), Andre's disc is sick (meaning great). As is to be expected, the Big Boi disc is less arty, more gangsta and worldly, and features the less-progressive guest raps of ATL crunk purveyors Lil' Jon and The Eastside Boyz ("Last Call") and Jay-Z who rhymes the hook on "Flip Flop Rock". Unlike Big Boi, Andre keeps his collabos to a minimum, once crooning alongside Norah Jones on the cool yet sappy "Take Off Your Cool", and once with Kelis. Boi fulfills his Dungeon Family duty with flying colors by flipping some dirty southern up-tempo raps over electro beats on "GhettoMusick". By the time Cee-Lo sermonizes on "Reset", Speakerboxx and Love Below rate mostly as majestic and inspiring, with the remaining 23 per cent being just plain incredible --Dalton Higgins
Customer Reviews:
Andre was great but Big Boi was questionable.......2007-06-04
I think that Outkast's Love Below/Speakerboxxx is unfairly bashed. Andre 3000's album was very innovative. Of course its not a hip hop album but its a creative album with hip hop elements added to it. When any great artist wants to break free from the tedious trend of rap or they just dont want to be confined to just hip hop only they make albums like The Love Below and Electric Circus. The only down side of this project is Big Boi's side Speakerboxxx. Standout Tracks on The Love Below: HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY(crazy), SPREAD, PROTOTYPE, SHE LIVES IN MY LAP, HEY YA(before it got played to death by radio), ROSES, BEHOLD A LADY, DRACULA'S WEDDING, MY FAVORITE THINGS(even though its an instrumental Andre hooked it up) and A LIFE IN THE DAY OF BENJAMIN ANDRE(100 bars without slipping a step. FIRE!). Filler: Love Hater(awful) and Pink And Blue(not horrible but i cant get into it at all. Bottom Line: Andre 3000's The Love Below puts Andre above the average just by creativity alone. Not a dull moment on this side of the album. Standout Tracks for Big Boi's Speakerboxxx: GHETTO MUSICK, THE WAY YOU MOVE(before the radio killed it), WAR(Big Boi dropped some gems on here. I'll give him some credit), KNOWING, FLIP FLOP ROCK and RESET. Filler:Unhappy(garbage), Bowtie(what the ? is this?), The Rooster, Tomb Of the Boom(all those people on it and it still stunk),Bust(Killer Mike's verse was cool but the song is still suspect) and Last Call(the worst song on here and was Lil Jon on the hook necessary?). Bottom Line: Big Boi's Speakerboxxx is an obvious rush job. Besides the songs mentioned as standouts, the rest of the album is as bland as wheat bread. As a whole The Love Below/Speakerboxxx should not be missed by any OutKast fan. Andre 3000 side alone makes this a must have.
Best Album Ever!!!.......2007-04-13
These are my favorite albums of all time. These albums completely changed me and my prospective on the world. Once I finally got into this double album I felt that anything was possible. It took me about four listens all the way through both discs to really wrap my mind and spirit around it and truly feel how ridiculously amazing and ground breaking this album really was. If OutKast could put so much of their heart and soul forth and put together such a perfect funky, soul, ride of a double album and still teach, move, and inspire so much than there is no telling what I or anyone else could really do. These albums were the first and only "Rap" album to date to ever win the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2003 , but these albums are so much more than "Rap" albums. As a matter of fact Andre 3000's disc "The Love Below" has only four rap verses on it (three by him, one of which goes for the entire length of a song on "A Life in the Day of Benjamin Andre (Incomplete") and one by Big Boi). These albums perfectly meld together every genre, feeling, and vibe without taking one millisecond for a breath of air. These albums can be a little hard to keep up with, but if you let Big Boi and Andre 3000 pull you through their kaleidoscope world at their own break neck speed you will not be sorry. Every single song on both discs are amazing, no need to skip. Both discs are completely different Big Boi's disc "Speakerboxxx" is just so perfectly cool and straight up playarific and Andre's album is like nothing you have ever heard (I 100% guarantee that). These albums sound like they fell off a comet from outer space, because they can't possibly be from this planet. By the end of these albums you will be saying stank you smelly much OutKast, stank you smelly much (once you listen to these albums you will understand what I just wrote and I guarantee that you will at least think that).
P.S. It took me four years to get to writing this review. But I wanted to make sure I did these albums justice and listened enough to know every nook and cranny(although every time I listen I hear something new) and I also make sure I described it as best as I could. Although I could describe it a million times better, I needed to get this up already.
3 stars for tlb ;; 5 for speakerboxxx.......2006-12-21
the love below was okay, but not really my style. if you like more r&b, or slow rap songs, you will probably prefer this cd. i prefer big bois cd much more. i like "harder" rap and all the guest stars. this is still a great collection of songs, and deserved all the nominations it received.
Rap isn't what it used to be, but these two will continue to carry it a long way.......2006-10-23
This double album (one disc by each member), is simply one of the greatest artistic achievements rap has ever seen. You just can't sit down anymore and come up with something like "Happy Valentine's Day" or "She's Alive" in 5 minutes. It takes a brilliant mind to create rap music that is as deeply enchanting as this.
The best Outkast's Album.......2006-08-28
I have been an Outkast fan for almost 10 years. I have got every album they released since Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (which was hard to find in France), released in 1993-1994 in France.
According to me, this double album is their best, even better than Atliens, their second album, which was my favourite before I hear Speakerboxxx / The Love Below.
The strength of this double album is the diversity in music style : hip hop, rnb, jazzy, soul... The overall quality of "The Love Below" sounds higher to me, but Speakerboxxx features some masterpieces like "The Way You Move", "The Rooster", "Flip Flop Rock"...

Twenty years of Dirty Dancing!.......2007-05-03
The Vestron film DIRTY DANCING is already twenty years old,in the aspect of production. August 14 marks the twentieth anniversary of its theatrical release. This CD features at least most of the material from the two soundtrack albums, including MORE DIRTY DANCING. The most memorable track,of course,is the Bill Medley/Jennifer Warnes duet (I'VE HAD THE)TIME OF MY LIFE. For more information, chack my review of the DIRTY DANCING soundtrack CD.

A grizzly-bear guitar tone and diamond-hard riffs are the strongest cards of this former Albert Collins and John Mayall sideman. Montoya turns them in often on these 11 tunes, right from the opening "Last Dirty Deal," which absolutely roars, to the climactic final solo of "There Ain't No Brakeman on This Train," which concludes the album with a flourish of six-string ferocity. Even the ballads, like "How Do You Sleep at Night," scream with edgy intensity. That's partly because producer Paul Barerre of Little Feat succeeded at capturing the essence of Montoya's live sound, but mostly because Montoya's mentor Collins put his fiery brand on his apprentice's style. It still burns, six albums into Montoya's solo career--especially when he's covering Collins's "Put the Shoe on the Other Foot," a funky shuffle full of bellowing sustained notes and stiletto melodies that reply to his singing. That song's declamatory style also serves Montoya's narrow vocal range well. And while his lyrics occasionally stumble into blues clichés--falling tears, dirty deals--his playing is unfailingly eloquent. --Ted Drozdowski
Album Description
Since stepping out as a bandleader in 1993, Montoya released five solo albums and performed non-stop at clubs, concert halls and major festivals all over the world. At every show, fans' jaws dropped, and critics raved about Montoya's mind-bending guitar licks and fervent vocals. "The fiery blues that issue forth from Coco Montoya's guitar are awe-inspiring and boogie requiring," says The Village Voice. With his new CD,
Dirty Deal (joined by his friends from
Little Feat), Montoya turns up the intensity with another dose of his feral, soul-stirring music.
On
Dirty Deal, Montoya, along with his road-tested, red-hot touring band, once again uses blues as a blasting off point for his emotional, soulful music. With his icy-hot guitar playing and his passionate, unaffected vocals, he attacks each of the 11 songs with deep feeling and ferocious energy. Montoya's friends, Little Feat members Paul Barerre, Kenny Gradney, Richie Hayward and Bill Payne, add their unique talents to the mix as well. Produced by Barrere and engineer Roger Cole, every song on Dirty Deal--the rockers as well as the ballads--burns from start to finish. Montoya brings all the unbridled force of his acclaimed live shows into the studio for a foot-stomping, guitar-fueled ride. Dirty Deal is Montoya's rawest, most stripped-down and impassioned recording to date.

Gotta Mind to Travel is much better.......2007-07-20
If you have heard "Travel" and you are looking for something completely different, this might work for you. The direction was a little too different for me.
Predictable, but worth a listen.......2007-07-18
I've been a Coco fan for many years and truly appreciate his soulful voice and guitar chops. Dirty Deal is a solid offering from Coco, but as I ssaid in the title, the song are a little predictable and not quite as dynamic as some of his earlier offerings. Don't get me wrong, it's still an enjoyable listen, just less poignant than the older stuff.
3.5 stars
Dirty Deal, Coco Montoya.......2007-07-02
I'm not a huge fan of this music genre. That said this is a solid effort by Montoya. It met my expectations.
review of album.......2007-05-15
In my opinion- The album is recorded very well . The vocals are soulfull ,excellent style blues delivered with heart . The guitars' tone sounds better than some of his other albums . It has bite . I'd like to hear him really cut loose though ,he's probably capable of much more .
Coco Montoya - Dirty Deal.......2007-03-22
My first Coco CD. First heard him play on a track on Tommy Castro's PainKiller CD (a must have). That was enough for me to buy Dirty Deal. The title track is killer. The whole CD gets better with each listen. Listening with headphones reveals some subtle rhythm tracks from time to time. Definately planning on giving his previous recordings a listen.

Amazon.com's Best of 2000
Imagine if the ghetto got electrified. That's Stankonia, an album of street smarts doused with gasoline and ready to burn. When a thundering electric guitar collides with a relentless drumbeat on the molten "Gasoline Dreams," it dominates mind and body, setting the tone for the album. Dre and Big Boi spin a world of freaks, poets, preachers, and pimps, but most importantly, possibilities. This music messes with your head. --Lizz Mendez Berry
Amazon.com
Big Boi and Andre 3000 make a monumental mothership connection on their utterly stupefying fourth album. At a time when the hip-hop "album" seems to be sadly declining in significance, Atlanta's finest deliver a classic package of space-case imagery, curbside poetry, and delicious experimental funk. While the boys still celebrate their big pimpin' lifestyles, "Gasoline Dreams" and the breathtaking "Humble Mumble" overflow with striking images of dashed American dreams and urban frustration. Stankonia's most beautiful moments come in the name of love, whether it's a celebration of the current ("Stanklove") or a lamentation of the past ("Ms. Jackson"). The love movement is manifested on the album's revolutionary production, combining the oozing, organic licks of P-Funk, the fearless, sexual audacity of Prince, some down-home Southern crunk, and even a little drum & bass ("B.O.B."). While Stankonia certainly isn't an "easy" album, its ambition and vision easily rank it among hip-hop's greatest in some time. --Hua Hsu
Customer Reviews:
It stanks in a good way .......2007-06-20
Southernplayalisticadillacmusik was a classic. Atliens was virtually spotless and so was Aquemeni but this album does have its flaws and as reviewers we need to point out certain flaws of an album instead of saying that everything is good just because you love the artists. That is being rational. Lets look at the positives as well as the negatives of this album shall we.
The Good: B.O.B, So Fresh So Clean and Ms. Jackson were all great singles and B.O.B. showed the lyrical agility of Dre and Big Boi as they kick superb rhymes over a fast-pased beat. Gasoline Dreams was the raucous kick off to this album and Khujo Goodie is still on point. Snappin & Trappin(featuring Killer Mike and J-Sweet) and Spaghetti Junction are both banging highlights(and is it me or did Big Boi take shots at Lil Jon and Emperor Sercy on Spaghetti Junction?). Humble Mumble which features Erykah Badu is another creative single with beautiful production and Red Velvet is an obvious jab at bling-bling rappers which is well done and Gangsta S*** is awesome(the remix on Greg Street's mixtape is not bad either). Its hard to say which one is my favorite off all the tracks listed so I'll just say all of them.
The Bad: A lot of the skits are not funny. We Love Deez Hoez(featuring Backbone and Big Gipp)is the worst song that Outkast has ever made next to Land Of A Million Drums(off the Shaggy and Scooby soundtrack)! The hook is stupid plus the guy doing the hook sounds like Baby Huey. Hahaha We Love Deez Hoez??????
The Ugly: I Call Before I Come is straight up filler, The campy beat sounds like background music for Mork And Mindy and why southern rap gods like Outkast would make a song with Gangsta Booty is anybody's guess. Xplosion(with B-Real and Witchdoctor)is another stinker that sounds like a bad sample of a Korn song. B-Real stunk it up worse with a weak jab at that wegro publication XXL or XXLAX(pick one)and what kind of a hook is that? And finally Slum Beautiful and Stankonia are two bland tracks that make avoiding sleep an impossible task. Bottom Line: Outkast's Stankonia is still a solid album despite these flaws. They still gave you some heat and the production was hard but they just had some songs that they could have gotten rid of. I would still recomend it but I'm not going to gloss over the fishy moments of this album.
Outkast Does It Again - Another Classic.......2006-09-04
Another 5-Star Classic from the hottest duo in the game. Standout tracks: So Fresh, So Clean - Ms. Jackson - Spaghetti Junction - but the single B.O.B. steals the show - so fresh and clean itself you might put it on loop for a few days before you listen to the rest of the album. This CD a definite must for any music collection regardless of your musical taste.
One of the decades best (so far).......2006-08-10
It is a testament to Outkast's greatness that they made a cd that should be on many critics top 50 list of the decade, one that made many "best of" lists in the year it was released, and it's not even their best work (you will have to pick up 1998's Aquemini for that pleasure). But Stankonia does deserve its praise and place among great cds both within and outside of its broad rap genre. This record reminds me a great deal of the Clash's London Calling, a cd that came out twenty years earlier, if not in sound but in style and spirit.
Like London Calling, what Stankonia does is expertly takes the roots and influences of a talented group and effectively filters them through their own developed sound, at once paying tribute to those influences and also building on a diverse and eclectic range of styles. This creates something that is at once in line with what has come before it but also on a higher level. Not an easy thing to do.
From the Hendrix meets Public Enemy opener "Gasoline Dreams" to the soul swagger of "So Fresh, So Clean" to the bombastic "B.O.B" this is hip hop music for people who may not like hip hop as well as for the genre's most die hard followers.
In addition to those great songs, the huge single "Ms. Jackson" is also found here, as well as hidden gem's "Toilet Tisha" (a tragic tale of ghetto suicide) "Humble Mumble" (which features
some of Eryka Badu's best verses) and the truly dirty south "I'll Call Before I Come" a rap song that could have only come out of the south, generally, and by Outkast, specifically.
The skits may be a bit off putting for some, but in my opinion they set up and add depth to the upcoming track and gives the listener pause between the wide ranging and well made tracks of this truly diverse masterpiece.

Heh, to be Frank, or George with you the only other Outkast album I've ever listened to is Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, so for all of you hardcore Outkast fans who say they went to techno or some ehs on this, this may look like blasphemy. Well, I'm not sure about their other records but on Stankonia Outkast made hip-hop that is extremely unique. And the hooks omg the hooks, they're everywhere, it'll probably take a few listens though to see that. Andre's odd sexual obsessions detract from the record, that kind of self-indulgence always does, but almost everything he does on the record is still brilliant.... even if his weirdness does annoy you >
<. All in all it's a suprisingly subtle and consistent album, the skits aside every track is phenomenal. It's one of the few records I think I HAVE to give 5 stars, I could lower it due to indulgence issuses...... but then I'd have to lower Sgt. Peppers rating... and god knows I'm not going to do that, lol. Only Greatest Hits compilations show more consistant brilliance than records on par with Stankonia. Certain aspects of the duo remain overrated but the fact is, Outkast is one of the best things to happen to modern pop music. ALSO, heh, another one of the many things that make this record stand out is the level of maturity, arghhh now I'm sounding old. This kind of maturity could only have come from great artists, artists that see far more than just the exterior of the issues they're addressing. But before I start heaping on the praise, I'm gonna say it... omg, it's being said.... MS. JACKSON IS THE MOST OVERRATED SONG EVER OMG, well, that's exaggerating, but you get my point. Best song you ask? B.O.B., no doubt in my mind, one of the greatest hip-hop songs ever recorded. Stankonia is a timeless album, a classic record, one of the best of all time. =) you can't argue so don't try.

It takes a few listens to sink in, but on Aquemini, Outkast have pulled off a rare feat in hip-hop: they've made a good record that's a masterpiece of subtlety. What's more, it's their third record, and they've yet to fall into a rut--and that alone puts them in line for an award. The Organized Noize production crew is sublime, working with live musicians and crafting hook-filled soundscapes that complement Big Boi and Andre Benjamin's melodic patter. (See "Rosa Parks," "Chonkyfire," and the epic "Liberation," which features Erykah Badu, Cee Lo, and Big Rube--and clocks in at just under nine minutes.) Classy and intelligent, Outkast haven't sacrificed anything in their quest to make challenging, innovative hip-hop that forgoes idle boasting for the duo's message. A sample, from the title track: "Now, question: Is every nigga wit dreads for the cause? / Is every nigga wit golds for the fall? Naw / So don't get caught in appearance." --Randy Silver

Hands down the greatest hip hop album of all time........2007-07-16
It really gets no better than this. This album gets better every time you listen to it. Absolute brilliance.
Only One Song Really Counts..........2007-05-11
The only song I really liked on the CD was Rosa Parks but since I could not buy just the single...the CD was worth it!!!
Another Outkast Classic.......2007-03-25
It is hard to say which album is Outkast's greatest. I have all of their albums and have thoroughly listened to each and every single one repeatedly. To me, these guys haven't missed yet on an album. But on Aquemini I noticed that Andre and Big Boi have grown up a little, and so has their material and lyrics. This album is the one that has placed Andre 3000 on the list of great mc's of all time. His verse on "Return of the 'G'" was outstanding (What's up wit Andre? is he on coke/ is he on drugs? is he gay?/when y'all gon' break up?/when y'all gon' wake up?/ I'm feelin better than ever/ whats wrong wit you? YOU GET DOWN!), as with all his other ones. Every single one of his verses on this album are classics. Not to forget about Big Boi, he also holds his own on this album. On this album, more so than the others, is when their two styles weave together perfectly and make every track great. The production also matches the tight lyrics from the two. Notice the unique production on tracks like Rosa Parks, Synthesizer, Aquemini and you'll hear production like none other. Just give it a few listens and you'll see and feel and hear the masterpiece at hand. A must buy for any Outkast fan, whether you just started listening to them or you've been listening since their first album.
Best of the best.......2007-02-28
I think Outkast is the best rap act of all-time. This album represents the zenith of of their work. On it, we see Big Boi's flow evolve into the smooth and catchy yet relevant offering (check out Skew it on the Bar-B) that he continues to deliver to this day. At the same time, we see Andre at his peak, when he was fully exploring creativity of his sound (see the sweet distortion in his verse on Da art of Storytellin' pt. II) while still snappin' like the best M.C. on the planet (unlike his later experimental singing on The Love Below and Idlewild). If you have jumped on the Outkast bandwagon with the likes of Ms. Jackson or Hey Ya, you should definetly cop this classic (along with 1996's ATLiens and 1993's Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik) and see how much Outkast has evolved over the past 1.5 decades. Every track is awesome except #11 (Mamacita).
...~AQUEMINI~... One of the best rap cd's I've ever heard.......2007-02-19
This CD is tight on all levels. Beats, production, and lyrics. Outkast is called outkast because they are different than any artists out. They got unique styles. They got the most creative imaginations I've heard of. This CD is classic. Pick it up if you got a ear for creativity and real rap music. This is one of my favorites and i've got around 400 rap cd's.

Album Description
Set against the decadent glamour and escalating danger of revolution-eve Cuba, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights re-imagines the 1987 film phenomenon from an exciting new perspective. Havana Nights tells a timeless story of a young woman's discovery of love, sensuality and independence - but with a sizzling style and rhythm all its own. In planning this new chapter in a beloved franchise, Artisan Entertainment and Miramax Films have put together a team of creative dynamos from the worlds of film, music and dance. Among them: maverick independent producer Lawrence Bender (Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting); executive producer Sarah Green (Frida); Academy Award. winning screenwriter Ron Bass (Rain Man, My Best Friend's Wedding); director Guy Ferland; screenwriter Pamela Gray (A Walk on the Moon); choreographer Joanne Jansen; music industry legend Clive Davis, whose hot J Records imprint will release the soundtrack; acclaimed actor Diego Luna, a rising star following his performance in the sexy sensation Y Tu Mama Tambiin; and, in what promises to be a breakout role, gifted young actress Romola Garai (recently seen in Nicholas Nickleby). The resulting film is certain to give audiences - from newcomers to those who cherish the first Dirty Dancing - the time of their lives, and then some!

Dirty Dancing - Havan Nights Soundtrack.......2007-04-07
Purchased for my daughter and myself after seeing the film. It is a lively mix of sultry, sensual salsa music which gets the feet moving and the singing and body going too! Exciting! Motivating! Fun! Not just for latin music lovers but for people who love life and enjoy being ALIVE!!!!!
Right up there with Otmar Liebert with Nouveau Flamenco and The Gypsy Kings to get the juices flowing and the body grooving to the music! We love it!

Havana Nights.......2007-02-08
I did not care for the movie Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights but the soundtrack is AMAZING. It has everything from slow dancing to fast step dancing type of music. I would tell anyone who loves Latin music that this soundtrack is a must have.
Very Impressive.......2007-01-27
I was very impressed with this CD. When I watched the Havana Nights, the thing that captivated me was the MUSIC. This soundtrack had all of the best songs from the movie in it! My favorites:
-Dance Like This
-Satellite (both versions)
But it is hard to pick favorites, because all the songs are good. If you found yourself wanting to get up and dance when you heard the music in this movie - DEFINITELY buy the soundtrack. It'll be a great addition to any collection.

Despite its title title, this is not a soundtrack for the Idlewild movie--almost no songs appear in the film. Instead, the tunes seem inspired by Idlewild's narrative themes. Outkast extends the eccentric streak that began on Stankonia and continued through The Love Below/Speakerboxxx. Fans of that last album may enjoy Idlewild's continued eclecticism, especially from Andre 3000, who seems to be moving further away from "rap" every moment toward some bizarre love child of Prince and Melvin Van Peebles. A song like "Mighty O," which actually features both Outkast members rhyming, is a refreshing throwback to the duo's earlier days, but Idlewild is mostly divided between songs from Andre and Big Boi, with few points of intersection. By far the strangest Outkast album they've ever released--and this is saying a lot--Idlewild is a heady, dizzying trip. Awkwardly disjointed at times, it undeniably certifies the group as one of the most adventurous that hip-hop has ever seen. It's not easy to love but it's hard not to respect. --Oliver Wang
Customer Reviews:
Good songs, but where's the soundtrack?.......2007-07-01
The movie of "Idlewild" itself had over 25 songs in it. So I didn't expect the soundtrack to have all the songs from the movie. But the weird thing is that there are actually 25 tracks on the CD, but only 7 of the songs are from the film! The soundtrack is still well worth the purchase. Listed below are the consistencies and the missing songs from the film.
The only tracks that are included on the CD
which are also in the movie are:
1. Morris Brown (Big Boi, with Sleepy Brown & Scar)
2. Chronomentrophobia (Outkast)
3. Makes No Sense (Outkast)
4. PJ & Rooster (Outkast)
5. Mutron Angel (Whild Peach)
6. Greatest Show on Earth (Macy Gray and Outkast)
7. When I Look in Your Eyes (Outkast)
The following songs are from the film, but are not included on this soundtrack and are available on other albums (as indicated).
Bessie Smith: The Essential
1. Do Your Duty
Cab Calloway The Early Years: 1930-34 [BOX SET]
1. The Nightmare
2. Moonglow
3. Kickin' the Gong Around
Outkast: Big Boi and Dre Present...
1. Movin' Cool (The After Party)
Outkast: Speakerboxxx/The Love Below
1. Bowtie
2. Church
3. She Lives in My Lap
4. Vibrate
5. Take Off Your Cool
6. The Rooster
Songs from the film that are unavailable:
1. Happy Days Are Here Again (Leo Reisman & His Orchestra)
2. Baptized (Angelic Voices)
3. Holy Holy (Angelic Voices)
4. Slum Swing (The Decon Band)
5. Drunken Rooster (Paul Rabjohns & Larry Lunetta)
6. The Bridge (Paul Rabjohns & Larry Lunetta)
7. On the Way to Heaven (André 3000)
Outkast takes a risk - and wins!.......2007-04-09
Okay... so the critics don't like it. Big deal! Outkast did an amazing job blending different musical styles and they've created a fun musical that is great when I'm driving and wonderful for swing, too!
While I'm at it, the movie is also 5 stars and worth every minute. Andre3k actually stretches by portraying an uptight shy man, not his usual persona. Both the CD and the movie are a fun romp!
Im Giving 1 star for the reviews below..........2007-03-04
Because they're too damn long! I mean who has time to read all that, let alone write all that. People can we keep the reviews down to like 1 or 2 short paragraphs please?!
Dissapointing But Still Solid (Rating: 7 out of 10- -3.5 stars).......2007-03-04
Outkast is probably one of my most influentual groups to come out of the hometown of ATL. That being said, this album was a slight dissapointment from all other Outkast albums that I've heard. Being based off the movie "Idlewild" I figured this would be a nice album in connection to the movie it was based on. Like a lot of people noticed, this album is like "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below". In fact it's a little too much like it (I'm suprised it wasn't a double disc as well). With Andre 3000 doing more singing, he sounds a little off with his vocals. I understand that he was experimenting with his singing vocals on "The Love Below", but I just wasn't feeling it on "Idlewild". Newer fans od Outkast (post "Stankonia") will like it, but those who have been down since "Southernplaya..." will be scratching their head. Nown old fans feel relieved when they hear Andre spit some rhymes, like on "Hollywood Divorce" and "Mighty O", two of the best songs on this album. Personally this is the Andre I wanted to hear. If I wanted to hear him sing, I would have stuck with their double disc.
As for Big Boi, he does a good job pulling his weight on his solo tracks. Another favorite song on here was "The Train", that was done by him solo. His style really hasn't changed much since the last album, which is actually good for me. He can still pull some dope rhymes. Some of his solo songs I wasn't feeling as well, like "Morris Brown".
Overall this is a solid album to me. Not as good as other Outkast albums, but it's still good. I just don't like the fact that there are a bunch of Big Boi and Andre solo songs with some of the songs they are on together (about three total), and then called an Outkast CD. As I said before, most of their previous albums they were rhyming toghether and very little singing (i.e. "Funky Ride" & "Liberation"). Also I found there were very limited guests from the Dungeon Family (except for Sleep Brown, Killer Mike, Khujo from Good Mob), as well as others like Macy Gray. I still love Outkast as one of my favorite groups, and how much sucessful they have became, especially with a good movie along with this. But if I had to choose their worst album, it would be this one. But thats not saying much, because all their albums are worth hearing.
