The William Loose Songbook

Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Richard Peterson has been seen playing in front of countless Seattle sporting events. He has shared the stage with The Cramps and Seattle's own Young Fresh Fellows. Richard's last album was 1993's critically acclaimed Love on the Golf Course, dedicated to Johnny Mathis. (Richard has often traveled great distances to enjoy Johnny in concert or watch him compete in celebrity Pro-Am golf tournaments). In the special bonus track, "Richard Peterson Speaks", he tries to explain his love for men such as Loose and Mathis. He will make you laugh and cry when he tells you, "I love the sound of men's voice"--You will love the sound of his voice as well as all the music he creates after a thorough listening to the William Loose Songbook

Album Description
Richard Peterson's new CD pays homage to William Loose, composer of television background music during TV's Golden Age (1947-58). He interprets fifteen of his favorite Loose compositions, transforming the old t.v. mood music into modern but reverent hits such as C-38 (Travelog Rap), C-61 (Yes I heard Someone Who Sang C-61) and the poignant C-68 (Seasick Tete)-- his sometimes baffling lyrics praising "all the domestic people in the Metro Tunnel singing their domestic songs"(from C-7, the Metro Tunnel).

This is a wonderful collection of music that pays tribute to the oft forgetten background music era. The melodies will stick in your head for days.

The final track is an autobiograpic spoken word track by Richard. And the pictures in the booklet alone are worth the price of this cd.
