Product Description
In my humble opinion, Andy is the most innovative and exciting fingerstyle guitarist to emerge in years. Still in his 20's, Andy has developed a mastery of the 6-string guitar and the harp guitar that leaves me speechless. He is the most textural player of the instrument since Michael Hedges, and he creates sonic architecture worthy of the great modern composers for any instrument. - Don Ross
Customer Reviews:
Slow dancer.......2007-07-03
Inspired by Preston Reed playing, Andy Mc Kee is more than a guitar player. When you look at the "Drifting" video, he seems to dance.
With the left hand he hits rhythms on the guitar body and alternately he plays bass notes all over the neck. With the right hand he inserts the melody. He scores three partitions at the same time.
Above all Andy is a great composer. Andrew from France.
Brilliant acoustic work from a modern master.......2007-04-02
Andy McKee has arrived on the acoustic guitar scene and he's done it with style. Not only has he shown his influences in his playing with the percussion/harmony/melody style popular of late, but has also brought his own lyrical melody writing into show here, along with fantastic harmonisation and composition.
Along with several other guitarists of the same genre (Antoine Dufour for example), Andy Mckee has set out to push the technical limits of the instrument whilst at the same time making sure to retain the sense of musicality that can sometimes be lost with a little too much concentration on virtuosic skill.
For me, Mckee blends the two aspects of his playing together perfectly and manages to produce music that is technically very difficult whilst still producing a melody you can sing along to. No other song is this shown in more than my favourite of his, 'Drifting'
A brilliant, technically minded album that's guaranteed to be enjoyed over and over again and guaranteed to put McKee firmly on the acoustic map.
andy mckee "art of motion".......2007-03-27
outstanding imagination, creativity and style. hard to believe that he is only one man and a guitar!
Incredible.......2007-03-17
Fantastic riffs. Now, if this guy could sing and play the same stuff... Wow! I wish I had time to learn this style of playing, but I encourage anyone who has that dream to go for it. This guy has my money for any future CDs, if they are as good as this one.
Great! ...but somewhat disappointing.......2007-03-09
Dont get me wrong, the music is great and Andy is surely a great guitar player. However, I feel that the same songs he published on YouTube are performed (and thus sound) better.

Palacio is from Belize and his music celebrates a culture called Garifuna, in which indigenous Arawak and Carib sounds, plus West African influences imported during the dark years of the slave trade are twisted around one another like a helix. Over the centuries, fiercely independent tribes-people maintained their identity even as European colonizers relentlessly pushed them from St. Vincent, where the Africans had been shipwrecked and intermarried with the local population, toward the Central American coast. But more recently, the culture had begun losing ground, especially in Nicaragua, a fact brought to Palacio's attention when he visited that nation as teenage literacy advocate. His impassioned espousal of his birthright began when he got involved with punta rock, a synth-and-drum-machine-driven dance style popular during the 1990s. The present album represents a return to his roots. Blended Native, African and Latin exhalations create softly pretty, simply constructed, yet indelible melodies while percolating, hypnotic rhythms, some of which are anchored by a prominent Afro-Cuban clavé, get everyone moving. The songs are sung exclusively in the Garifuna language and built around folkloric sources like the ritual-based dügü. There's not a false note anywhere in earshot but "Yagane", a seafaring tune composed by and performed with Paul Nabor, a septuagenarian buyei (spiritual healer), is one stand-out; the delightful title track is another. The CD is enhanced with videos and other extras. --Christina Roden

Cross-cultural wonderfulness.......2007-06-30
This is the kind of music that everyone can relate to--all you need is a soul. Get this album, you won't be disappointed.
Not a great World Music album - just a great album.......2007-05-23
It is hard to imagine anyone in 2007 producing anything so pure, so moving, so touching, so uplifting as Watina by Andy Palacio and the Garifuna Collective. If you can't fall in love with this music, then go to the doctor immediately and ask him to check if your heart is still beating.
The growing number of people who listen to World Music will instantly recognise this as a classic. But it deserves to be heard much more widely than the World Music circuit. Songs like Weyu Lariga Weyu should be being played on the radio and in the shops.
I knew nothing of Garifuna and had never heard of Andy Palacio until a week or so ago. Now I can't get the music out of my head and I've fallen in love with a place I have never been to (and probably never will) and a people whom I have never met. That's how good this album is.
Andy Palacio's welcome return to his roots.......2007-05-17
Andy Palacio from Belize was little known outside his country, the smallest one in South America. He contributed a bland track to Putumayo's "Music from the Chocolate Lands",and frothy Caribbean pop to Putumayo's "Caribe! Caribe!" When Andy Palacio realized he was one of the few young people still speaking the Garifuna language, he decided to return to his roots, and form the Garifuna Collective.
Andy Palacio's return to his roots has led not only to a revival of Garifuna language and culture, but is a joy for world music fans who delight in earthy, powerful music. "Watina" is a savory blend of reggae-flavored music such as "Lidan Aban" (Together) and the bluesy laments of "Sin Precio" (Worthless), "Ayo Da" (Goodbye my dear) and the title track. There is the reverent sacred music of "Baba" (Father),"Weyu Larigi Weyu" (Day by Day) and "Aguyuha Nidudenu" (My people have moved on). The jazzy, frothy song "Miami" isn't about the Florida metropolis, but about injustice in that city in Honduras. The closing song, "Amunegu" (In times to come),is a hopeful gaze to the future.
There isn't a single weak song on this album. It's a perfect introduction to the music of Belize (too often overshadowed by Argentina, the tango capital of the world and Brazil with its sambas and bossa novas) and Garifuna culture. It's a must for any world music collection!
Life is a beach.......2007-05-06
I listen to a lot of different music and pride myself for my collection. If you are into world music, check this one out! Some ultimate world music. Where does this one come from? Beach sounds from Belize... King Sunny Ade lost in the caribean? Does Orchestre Baobab play hints of reggea? Does Yousou'n dours 10th cousin play drums with Palacio? Or is this gilberto gil on vacation? The booklet that comes with it is worth the cd price in itself. Beautiful history, the lyrics, an inunderstandible dying language. Yet, you can understand what is being said, especially with the english translation. Simple texts, sometimes big things don't need much words. Put this on, have a beer, close your eyes, move to the tropics. This is fine fine music.
Could this be the most enjoyable World CD since...Buena Vista?.......2007-04-10
It takes a lot to make Americans listen to music recorded beyond our borders. Like Buena Vista Social Club. I'll bet you bought that CD, played it to death, and drag it out now on occasions when you want an easy, hip-skaking lilt as background. But would you have given Cuban geezers a listen if renowned musician and producer Ry Cooder hadn't brokered the sale and turned an otherwise obscure CD into a Grammy-winning hit ? If Wim Wenders hadn't made an exquisite documentary film that turned seventy-year-old musicians into brand names?
Andy Palacio doesn't have Buena Vista's advantages. He's from Belize, the least-populated country in Central America. His music celebrates the Garifunan culture, which is known to maybe five American Caucasians. And although his record company couldn't be more distinguished in World Music circles --- Jacob Edgar, its founder, was head of A&R at Putamayo --- few of you have heard of him or his sparkling label, Cumbancha.
No matter. This musician you've never heard of, singing in a language spoken by no more than a few hundred thousand people, has delivered what could easily be the most enjoyable CD of the year.
What's it like? Everything. And that's the key to the music.
In the 1700s, West African slaves were shipwrecked on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent. They intermarried with Arawak Indians and lived peacefully until the English forced them into exile on a small, resource-poor island off Honduras. They moved on to the mainland, but their identity has blurred over the centuries. Now there are just 11,500 Garifunans living in Belize --- and the Garifunan language, which is taught in only one village there, has been designated by the United Nations as among the "masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity."
Andy Palacio, a Garifunan from Belize, once modified his culture's music so it would have wider appeal. But the threat that it might become extinct encouraged him to return to his roots. And so he assembled all-star Garifunan musicians in a thatched-roof shack on Belize's Caribbean coast and spent four months with that band, playing endangered music deep into the night.
The musicologist in me wants to tell you about the richness to be found here: the sexy thrust you'll find in the Cape Verde songs of Cesaria Evora, the raw vocals reminiscent of the Peter Tosh era with The Wailers, the lyrics about life's everyday challenges that could have been written by Ali Farka Toure or Boubacar Traore --- and, of course, the joyous bounce of Buena Vista.
But it's the enthusiast in me that carries the day. Here are 12 songs, each radically different, that, taken together, form a classic mosaic. The electric guitar couldn't be more seductive, the drumming catchier, the lead vocals more urgent, the harmonies more subtle. This CD is as irresistible as Amadou & Mariam --- you will leave your chair.
As I write, the music industry in America is facing the greatest crisis in its history --- it can't find much to sell that you care about. Well, here are some poor musicians no one ever heard of, who made the recording of their lives without any thought of fame or fortune. And here's a guy in a Vermont farmhouse, lavishing beautiful packaging and energetic promotion on these nonentities.
And what's the outcome?
For one of the planet's smallest subcultures, a moment of bracing attention.
For you, satisfaction on the order of Buena Vista --- and maybe greater.
No kidding about that. Andy Palacio and his friends aren't just good, they're seriously great.

good memories for me and fun "new" songs for my children.......2007-06-27
We had ordered this for "The Dukes of Hazzard" theme song for our 4yr old and our whole family has fallen in love with the cd. It makes me want to share some of the old fun and simple shows with my children. I forgot about some of those shows. It brings back good memories for my husband and me and the songs are new and exciting for our children. It's a nice change from children's cd's, but our children still think it's fun. The sound quality is good and the songs included on the cd are a great mix. I would definately recommend this one.

TV Theme Songs.......2007-01-13
This is a great CD for people who watch a lot of TV -especially TV LAND and reruns of old shows when shows had actual theme songs. I took the CD to work and everyone loved trying to figure out what show the songs were from.
TV themes.......2006-07-05
Not all what I expected, not all of the tunes are the original recordings you remember as the TV themes.
Deja Vu.......2006-02-17
Listening to these familiar themes as performed by the original artists certainly brings back wonderful memories! I was particularly pleased, not only with the quality of the pieces, but with the actual performances themselves, just as we remembered them!

A new album from Hank Williams III is always a revelation: first, because it came out at all (his relationship with his label is as stormy as the marriage of his legendary grandparents); and second, because of its content and execution. So it's something of a miracle to see a 2-CD set of some of III's most hardcore Hellbilly (as opposed to the relentless screaming of his Assjack), especially as a number of the songs had been scheduled to appear on his unreleased 2003 album Thrown Out of the Bar. Hank III calls the new offering--recorded mostly on a $500 machine, for a DIY sound--a "thrill ride into a life of sin." This may explain the fact that Straight to Hell, which opens with some old-fashioned gospel and abruptly ends with the sound of a belly-laughing Satan, comes with a parental advisory sticker. He earns it, all right, especially on "Dick in Dixie," which is not a song about a man named Richard. As usual, III spends a lot of time pointing out what's wrong with Nashville; worshiping pills, weed, and wine; and self-mythologizing. But when he gets down to business, putting his graddaddy's bray on such songs of misery as "Angel of Sin," well, all is forgiven. III also gets big points for the second disc's 42-minute hidden track, a self-indulgent but brilliant pastiche of sound comprised of a Hank Sr. song ("I Could Never Be Ashamed of You"), snippets of a Wayne "The Train" Hancock tune, a fragment of a song III wrote with ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons, a little Cheech and Chong, as well as assorted sounds of a speeding train, runaway horses, pig snorts, a gunshot, and some hellfire-and-brimstone preaching. A drug-laced dream? The soundtrack to that journey to Hades of the album title? Damned interesting, either way. --Alanna Nash
Customer Reviews:
Hellbilly Hellraiser!!!.......2007-06-26
To call this latest Hank III release revolutionary should demonstrate just how far country music has fallen from its roots. However, if anyone should lead the charge to regain the outlaw image while redefining the mythology of country, it ought to be Hank III.
Simply put, this is an absolute masterpiece. While Broke, Lovesick and Driftin' is a crooner of a record grandpappy would be proud to hear, Straight to Hell offers the best of all country and western has to offer. And make no bones about it, Hank III is serious about his country. Everything from bluegrass to hillbilly to southern rock can be found here.
You can also find the reverance of a young man who knows his country roots. Country Heroes is an ode to those outlaws that came before him. The men on which country has come to rest and, in times of need, fallen back on. D Ray White pays homage to III West Virginia roots while reminding Country music lovers who this music is really about.
And yes, there is the country mythology. Whether Hank has done half the things he claims makes no difference. The energy, enthusiasm and integrity with which he performs will make you believe just about anything. For all I know, he wrestled a grizzly bear with one hand tied behind his back while chuggin' a beer. Hell, that is tame compared to some of the content within.
At times the pace is so fast you can't help but wonder how they pulled it off. If you are ever trying to get your moonshine over the border, fuel up with Dick in Dixie. This steamroller of a song will have you burning a whole in your boots.
Then there is Low Down, a mid-tempo, southern rock diddy that could just as well been done by Hank, Jr. And the blues based tune, Not Everybody Likes Us, lets you know exactly what Hank III really thinks of todays state of Nashville.
'Old school' country fans may find some of the lyrics a bit harsh. There are plenty of drug references and colorful metaphors to describe sex. New country fans will not care for Hank's direct approach to the latest happenings with today's country scene. However, these are trifle matters easily brushed aside by the brilliance of this disc.
Oh yeah, and that is only disc 1. If the first disc has you reaching for the bottle, the second disc may just land you in jail. Enjoy!
10 Stars.......2007-06-07
Yeah, what everybody else has said and more. This CD gives me renewed faith in American music. I'm not a country music fan but I learned the words and sang along to Hank's records when I was a little kid and now, after the crap that Jr. puts out, here we are again, Hank Williams raising hell and turning things on their heads. Man, I cannot hear this CD enough. The songs are great, period, but don't overlook the musicianship, which is balls-to-the-wall great. Also a great act to see live if you get the chance.
Hell Is Right! For Me It's Freezing Over!.......2007-04-15
Now, I certainly hope you can take the word of a guy who has never been into country music. I dip into so many genres, and country I had always avoided intentionally. Listening to this cd I realized why that is. For someone who doesn't like country, the only place you will hear any country is on the radio or on tv if you happen to be within earshot(or riding shotgun in a car with some schmuck who's blaring and singing along with it). And what kind of country is played on the radio and tv, children? Like any other popular music station, 100% Grade-A crapola. Hank is certainly an eye opener. Hank reminds me of the stuff my grandparents were listening to when I was very young; Stuff that sounded like it came from the heart and soul, not pop music with fake southern accents. Hank is country the way I always felt it should sound. Hank sings about heartbreak, drinking, and his idols. He's not afraid to glorify drug use and make a slam on pop country every chance he can. Kinda like the Manowar of country if you will. The fact that Hank's singing from the heart comes right through your speakers. You can practically feel it, and his enthusiasm and love for country becomes downright infectious. You find yourself going, "Yeah, Hank! You tell em how it is!" This is a guy right at home and having the time of his life playing songs in a bar with rowdy, dedicated fans, not prancing around in an enormous arena with 80 band members and wearing one of those secret service earpieces(that ever really seem "country" to you?). Hank is "keepin' it real" as those wacky kids like to say nowdays. Not one throwaway tune on Straight To Hell, so you need not bother with that skip button, just put it on and let it run. Disc two shows us that Hank's also into experimenting with sound. Lots of acoustic tunes with noises and sound effects in between. If John Zorn were to do a country album, it'd probably sound something like this. One of the sounds is a few minutes of a locomotive. If you have a good sound system at home and turn this up, you'd swear you had a train going right through your living room. Needless to say Brooks and Dunn won't be doing a disc like this soon. But as I said before, you want the real deal, this is it. I'm definitely no authority on country music, but I know what I like, and judging by the previous reviews for this cd, I seem to be on the right track. Get yourself on track!
I Like Hank III.......2007-03-22
I really enjoy the music of Hank III. I own almost all of III's releases and each has some strong tracks on them. This one has some, too. I dig Satan is Real/Straight to Hell, Crazed Country Rebel,
and Dick In Dixie, but that's about it. That 42 minute whatever on disc
2 is a waste of space. For any disc to deserve 5 stars more than half of the songs should be good. Hank III has still not reached this yet...
Hank 3 at his best!.......2007-01-10
THIS IS THE BEST COUNTRY ALBUM I HAVE EVER HEARD KICK BACK AND ENJOY, START TO FINISH!

With its rich film catalog, Disney has a natural advantage when it comes to expanding into musical theater. But 1999's Tarzan wasn't the very best choice for a stage adaptation. Unlike, say, Beauty and the Beast, whose score was written by show-tune vets, Tarzan was associated with a musical-theater newbie, Phil Collins, who expanded his original score for the show, writing nine new numbers in addition to the five from the movie. But while he does come up with agreeable pop melodies (as, for instance, the hit "You'll Be in My Heart" and the new "Waiting for This Moment" and "For the First Time"), his greenness shows in the lyrics, which tend to spell things out way too much ("In learning you will teach/And in teaching you will learn," etc.) This CD certainly is kid-friendly, but unlike the best Disney material, it lacks that extra layer that would entice adults as well. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Fantastic.......2007-06-12
Every song is excellent. If you saw the play, this is a must have.
Amazing.......2007-04-03
I'm hoping that someday there will be a touring company of Tarzan that will be coming to Chicago, so I wanted to have the Broadway cast recording so that I would know the songs that were added to the Broadway show to help expand the animated film. I know that the songs from the movie are amazing, and hopefully, so are the new ones. With Phil Collins doing the new songs for the Broadway show, it will be awesome.
I LOVE this music.......2007-01-30
I was very excited to hear that "Tarzan," one of my favorite Disney movies was being made into a musical. Being a theatre major in school, I had to buy the soundtrack as soon as I found out. The music was beautifully written, the singers all sound wonderful, and frankly, I can't wait to see the show!! I have read some reviews before I bought it and one thing that really bothered me was some close-minded person who complained that the lyrics didn't rhyme. Well, no, not all of it does, but that's what makes this music so beautiful. People always automatically think that lyrics have to rhyme, but I find the best songs to be where the lyrics don't necessarily rhyme and the music is beautiful; songs like the ones in this show. I highly recommend this soundtrack to everyone.
Not quite there........2007-01-17
While some of the numbers were really great. Its evident that Broadway isn't Phil Collins calling. As an album it meets expectations, as a big production-its not quite as great as it should and could be. He has yet to expand some of the songs and make them into typical big broadway numbers. Theres too much pop in it, the music and lyrics are too simple. Collins music is missing an element if you were to look at it as a broadway production. It sounds virtually the same as the Disney, with just some different intrumentals-not good as a show. I think this show has the potential to be absolutely mind blowing if they heighten everything.
Phil Collins is the best........2007-01-12
I like Phil Collins work, the music he write and sing and also the music he play (like in the Big Band with A Hot Night in Paris). He is truly a musician. And now he sorprise me with this production. Although he doesn't sing in it (only the bonus track), if you like Phil Collins and Disney this is a most have.

On its self-titled 2002 debut, OK Go nailed the two things every decent power-pop band needs--deadly looks and deadly hooks--to deliver the knock-out hit "Get Over It." Its follow up, produced by Tore Johansson (Franz Ferdinand, the Cardigans) and recorded in Malmöö, Sweden, offers more of the same. Much more. The Chicago quartet can't seem to move through its record collection fast enough, piling on the Beach Boys harmonies, Cars synthesizer squelches and Queen-inspired fanfare on breakneck songs like "Here It Goes Again" and "Crash The Party." Without any pauses for breath or quiet contemplation, it's frankly almost too much to take in one sitting. Then again, it can't be easy trying to cram the entire history of pop in just under an hour. --Aidin Vaziri
Customer Reviews:
Smart and Sharp, oh yes!.......2007-07-24
Slick, savvy and smart, the second album from Ok Go is that kind of super clever power pop that either drives you crazy with joy of works your last nerve. When it works (like fellow mid-westerners Cheap Trick, whom OK Go often recalls), it's like a Pez Dispenser firing on automatic. When it doesn't, well, it all just comes off as calculated image aping.
"Oh No" straddles the two camps pretty well. They remind me a lot of Cheap Trick and the undervalued Urge Overkill, with new wave snap thrown in for good measure (like Weezer or The Cars -- or even The Killers -- at their poppiest). Like many others, I was drawn in my the band's videos, shot on a shoestring -- or a treadmill -- and then plastered on the likes of YouTube. Thing is, once the goofiness of the choreography wore off, "Here It Goes Again" was embedded in my brain. I decided to take the plunge and buy "Oh No," and I have no regrets.
The guys in Ok Go know their rock history. There's a little snippets of psychedelia ("The House Wins"), cynically sharp Elvis Costello bites ("A Million Ways") and the irresistible candy coated pop of "Here It Goes" and "Do What You Want." The latter really has the imprint of producer Tore Johannson (Franz Ferdinand); all jangle jagged guitar and dancebeat. The album's only downside is that sometimes the songs just come off as too derivative; like Fountains of Wayne or They Might Be Giants, Ok Go sometimes get too clever for their own good. Tacking over 30 minutes of room noise as a 14th track doesn't impress me much, either. "Oh No" is so ebuellent that you can forgive a lot of the carbon-copy, but if they can substitute some of that for carbonation, Ok Go may achieve the greatness that "Oh No" and parts of the debut hinted at. I am more than happy to keep hitting repeat every time this CD gets to "Here It Goes Again." I don't even need the video anymore.
Love it!.......2007-07-11
From start to finish, first song to last, you just want to roll the windows down in the car, turn the volume up, and sing along and do that chair dance move you do in the car!
More than just the treadmill song.......2007-07-09
This album contains more than just the treadmill song. It's full of rock-awesome with a bunch of catchy songs you didn't know existed until you hear them. It's a pleasantly surprising album loaded with their funky fun sound that makes you wanna dance.
the treadmill dance.......2007-06-25
I loved the cd soo much. Although the treadmill dance is awesome, the songs ok go sings really ARE great music. Every track was unique and fun. It is worth every penny to buy it.
3-1/2 stars -- Moving forward.......2007-05-31
I remember last year I kept trying to watch the top 20 countdown on VH1, but I always kept tuning in toward the end of the show when they were doing a recap of videos 20 through 2. One video I kept seeing on there was OK Go's "Here It Goes Again", and I kept asking, "Who the hell is OK Go?" After I finally caught the innovative video, I eventually came to the conclusion that the song only became a hit (albeit for one week) because of the video; nobody would really care about the band otherwise. But their second album Oh No is actually quite impressive.
Scooter McGavin hit the nail on the head with his review (although I'm rating it three-and-a-half stars). But when I sat down and really paid attention to "Here It Goes Again", I decided that the song isn't disposable after all. In fact, the whole first half of the album contains the strongest selections, like "Do What You Want", "It's a Disaster" and "Invincible". Moreover, if tracks 1-7 were released on an EP or something, I could easily rate it five stars.
That said, it's a shame that some of the selections on the remainder of the album aren't as enthralling. "Maybe, This Time" is boring, "Crash the Party" didn't do anything for me, and "Television, Television" really isn't much more than a throwaway song. But Oh No still has enough good tunes to warrant a purchase. If you like Weezer, you should like this.

It's no mean feat being the world's foremost crossover artist--a task that risks alienating two disparate audiences and everyone in between--but somebody had to do it, and Andrea Bocelli again walks that artistic tightrope with impressive deftness. The title may imply a casual intimacy (indeed, the singer admits to taking a more "hands-on" approach to the album's conception and production), but it's a collection that nonetheless continues to expand on the Italian tenor's ambitious internationalism. His collaboration "Sin Tu Amor" immerses his voice in the Gipsy Kings' own rich Iberian folk-pop fusion with compelling results, while "Where Love Goes" (a musical focal point of the film Lazarus Child), his English language duet with 11-year-old prodigy Holly Stell, achieves an almost liturgical grace. "Tu Ci Sei" (You Are There) continues in the romantic vein of his familiar theme "Con Te Partiro" (Time to Say Goodbye), while the single "Dell' Amore Non Si Sa" (With Love You Never Know) features Bocelli in a signature dramatic tour de force collaboration with arranger Mauro Malavasi, the accomplished producer of the singer's Romanza and Sogno albums. Bocelli's shrewd taste and vocal prowess here not only again redeem an oft-maligned genre, but elevate it considerably in the bargain. --Jerry McCulley

HOW DO YOU SAY,"WOW," IN ITALIAN?.......2007-06-22
BEFORE I START, LET ME SAY, THAT I AM A DANCE CLUB GUY AND THAT, ORDINARILY, THIS IS NOT MY KIND OF MUSIC. OF COURSE, I LAUGH AS I SAY THAT, AS, APPARENTLY, A NEW DOOR HAS OPENED IN MY LIFE, THANKS TO THIS MAN.
A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD HEARD ANDREA DO, "CON TE PARTIRO," ON A PBS SPECIAL AND MY EYES FILLED WITH TEARS THAT ANY HUMAN COULD MAKE SUCH SOUNDS. I WAS ASTOUNDED; MORE ASTOUNDING, STILL, WAS TO HEAR THIS ALBUM AND FIND THAT HIS VOICE HAD ACTUALLY VASTLY IMPOVED OVER TIME. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? " CON TE..," PALES IN COMPARISON TO THE QUALITY OF THIS WORK; THE TRACKS ON THIS CD ARE PERFECT, FULL, RICH, AND MORE MOVING THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER HEARD. I HAVE HAD IT A WEEK, NOW, AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LISTEN TO ANYTHING ELSE FOR VERY LONG, AND I PLAY IT OVER AND OVER. IT HAS BEEN MANY YEARS SINCE I HAVE BEEN AFFECTED LIKE THIS BY ANY VOCAL CD. IF HE NEVER RECORDED AGAIN HE WOULD HAVE MADE A MARK ON THE WORLD OF AUDIO NEVER TO BE ERASED OR FORGOTTEN. WHAT A VOICE! WHAT SONGS! THE CUT, "LIBERTA," ABSOLUTELY KILLS ME WITH FEELINGS OF JOY AND MARVEL. I HAVE EVEN TAKEN UP STUDYING ITALIAN BECAUSE OF IT.
TREAT YOURSELF, AND A GOOD FRIEND, TO THE SOUNDS ON THIS CD. SIT AND WATCH A SUNSET WITH IT ON... I MEAN NOW!
Just buy it........2007-05-30
If you like soft music that make's you feel up beat, just order a Andrea Bocelli CD. Listening to his CD's after being at work all day, is like having an option in life to hear and be somewhere else.
Teamo, Andrea Bocelli .......2007-03-08
One of his best. Need the lyrics translated from the Italian to the English inside the casing next time. Nonetheless, Mr. Bocelli has a beautiful voice. It made my wife and all my female co-workers swoon when they listened to it.
A new style from Andrea........2007-02-24
There were some ugly songs in here.(I absolutely hate to say that about anything Andrea.)But the good far outshone the bad.
Un Nouvo Giorno stunned me the first time I heard it.It was so unlike anything I had heard from Andrea- very pop.But it soon grew on me.
Liberta is amazing.Very catchy and upbeat.
Sempre O Mai is my favorite. It keeps its tempo up and has the best of Andrea and pop.Great song.
So this album was really a double album with pop and classical songs interspersed.A good mix from the master.
Not happy with delivery (or non delivery) of this item.......2007-01-16
When I ordered this on 12/04/2006 they said I would have it before Christmas. Then right before Christmas the delivery date was changed to mid-January. So I had to cancel my order and go, at the last minute, buy it at a store because it was a Christmas present. I wasn't happy about it and won't be buying from amazon for the holidays any longer.

It's probably best known for raising the stakes for 1980s blockbuster shows by landing a helicopter on stage, but Miss Saigon is also a good show with good music. As a follow-up to their international smash Les Misérables, Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg (with an assist from Richard Maltby Jr.) adapted the tale of Madame Butterfly to the Vietnam War, realized here by the original 1989 London cast. While it may seem overheated at times, the despair and passion fit the tragic story, and Schönberg's pop-flavored style receives its most appropriate setting. Leading the cast are Jonathan Pryce as the Engineer (a Eurasian character whose casting generated some controversy when the producers wanted to have Pryce, a Caucasian, reprise the role on Broadway), Lea Salonga (in her first major role) as the young Vietnamese bride, Simon Bowman as her lover, and Claire Moore as his American wife (and a young Ruthie Henshall as one of the sweaty bargirls). The songs include the bawdy opener "The Heat Is on in Saigon," "The Movie in My Mind," "Why God Why," the romantic duet "The Last Night of the World," the female duet "I Still Believe," the male chorus number "Bui-Doi," and the Engineer's mocking "The American Dream." The booklet includes photographs and full lyrics. It's also available in a 58-minute highlights version. --David Horiuchi

Ms. Saigon CD.......2007-05-12

Miss Saigon (Original 1989 London Cast).......2007-01-05
Outstanding recording containing moving music and lyrics that tug at the heart. A must for any Broadway enthusiast.
Miss Saigon- even better than Les Miserables!.......2006-12-11
My personal opinion is that Miss Saigon is even better than Les Miserables. Now, don't get me wrong, I think that Les Miserables is also a really great production with a nice story. But with this recording, you can literally feel the feeling coming out of your speakers.
To start, the cast is absolutley fantastic. Of course Lea Salonga is outstanding here and plays what I think think is her best performance of her career in Kim. Simon Bowman is also great, His big song "Why, God, Why?" is one of the stand-outs of the show. I was also very suprised at how much I liked the supporting cast as well. Claire Moore does an absolutley fantastic job as Ellen. and "Now That I've Seen Her" is one of my favorite songs of the whole recording. I also loved Peter Polycarpou as John, and of course, Jonathan Pryce as the Engineer.
I also found the story so interesting and dramatic, but a good dramatic. While Les Miserables was more a "story within a story" kind of musical, Miss Saigon's is easy to understand, deep, and makes you feel instantly connected to the characters, not knowing who's side to take in the story.
Miss Saigon is one of my favorite muscial's (which is saying a lot, sice my other favorites is Rent and Wicked) and this is a definitley a recording that you'll want to have if your a fan of musical theatre. Trust me when I say that if you give Miss Saigon a chance, you will be truly be rewarded with this beautiful tale.

Altar Boyz may ride on a single idea, but that idea is brilliantly carried through: What if there was an openly Christian boy band? Because the show's success depends on that one concept, every detail has to be perfec--and it is. Each member of the titular quintet is typecast--the Hispanic one, the gangsta one, the could-be-gay one, etc.--and the singers perfectly ape the perky 'N Sync/American Idol style, easily navigating between yelping pleading and bombastic bravado. The booklet even comes complete with lengthy, smarmy thanks from the Boyz ("big props to the Big Man in the sky"). As for the music, it's drenched in cheesy synths and appropriately catchy: Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker (contributing six songs each) may have gleefully nailed the genre's inane lyrics, but they didn't forget the melodies either. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

About as much Andy Williams as one needs.......2006-08-04
Being a Sinatraphile, I don't often like to venture into the domain of other "Easy Listening" singers; I generally stick with the best. However, every now and then I pop in something different just for the sake of variety. If nothing else, it makes me appreciate Sinatra that much more. But I digress. Williams has a very smooth, pleasant voice. He's not offensive, his voice is distinctive, and he has sung some good songs. Besides, he was a friend and supporter of Bobby Kennedy, so he must be a halfway decent guy. This collection is pretty solid: his signature song, "Moon River," is here; "Can't Get Used to Losing You" is a damn fine, catchy tune; "Dear Heart" and "Days of Wine and Roses" are also quite good, though my favorite song on this collection is the beautiful "Emily." There are some standards and a couple I could do without, but overall I would consider this a good buy.
You just don't hear these songs anymore.............2005-07-20
Listening to Andy Williams brought back lots of memories. You just don't hear these songs played on free radio anymore. Now I can listen anytime I want. Great CD!

When finally you decide to make a personal list of the greatest American crooners in the past Century you must include him necessarily. His voice has a singular style and could to make a real journey from a tour de force song to the most slender song under the moonlight-
Andy Williams will be always remembered due his fascinating charisma and personality. His version of Autumn leaves, for instance is one of the five best I know, but there will be always Williams
Sweet Memories.......2005-01-24
These songs bring back so many memories from my childhood. I remember dancing in the kitchen with my dad while this tape played. Now I'm 17 and we still have the tape. so when I found the cd on here I had to buy it. My favorites are: "can't get used to losing you", "Moon River", "Born Free", "Danny Boy", "Impossible dream", and my all time favorite..."Emily." It was always a special song since my name is Emily. I know that this was more sharing my feelings than reveiwing the cd, but thats ok. I highly recommend this album. Andy Williams is one of the best.
I bought this one because of a dream..........2004-12-02
One night I had a dream in which Andy Williams appeared. It was really bizarre. I was skiing down the side of a mountain with Eve Plumb and I suddenly fell down. I looked up and Eve was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly, Andy Williams appeared.
I asked him to help me up and he asked if I owned any of his albums. I said I didn't. He said he'd help me up if I promised to go and buy one of them. I promised I'd buy one, so he helped me up. Then he and I and Eve Plumb went to a diner and had hot chocolate together.
It was such a weird dream. Usually other celebrities don't appear in my dreams about Eve Plumb. I figured it was some sort of sign, so I went and bought this CD the very next day.
