Resurgence

Editorial Reviews
(Alternative Press #120 - Aaron Johnston)
Resurgence is an apt title, as these 29 Pacific Northwest terrorists fight to reclaim what the Wax Trax! scene surrender to Europe back in the '80's...

(Sideline #25 - Seb Derval)
This compilation is a really interesting release I recommend to all those of you interested in synthcore and other noisy deviations. Moreover it will give you a good picture of the US scene in this genre as all tracks featured here are "Made in America"...

Album Description
Resurgence is the second in a series of Pacific Northwest based compilations that focuses on the burgeoning talent in this part of the country.

This time around Resurgence not only explores the Oregon music scene but it has been expanded to encompass the musical menagerie of Washington, most specifically Seattle.

5 out of 5 stars Very Nice........2001-11-30

This CD is a compilation of prayers for the common person's day-to-day affairs, such as before going to bed, after eating a meal. The english translation follows the Arabic. There are also a few nice nasheeds/songs. The only thing that would have improved this CD and allowed the listener to benefit from it even more is if it came with the written text of the prayers so the listener could learn them too. You can't really pick up the proper prononciation ecetera just by listening to the CD because its obviously read by professionals, so kind of at a fast pace. However, I know you can for sure find these prayers in books elsewhere, as they are all well-known. Overall, a nice CD to listen to that will hopefully inspire us to remember God in our daily activities just as the Prophet did with these daily prayers.

5 out of 5 stars Words and Songs of Comfort and Peace.......2001-09-20

I don't pretend to be Muslim though I've read the Koran, Dawood translation (Penguin) two and three times over. This CD is a production of Mountain of Light, based in London. Yusuf Islam, formerly, Cat Stevens, is more than a narrator, he is a translator. The album is divided into the following segments: Prayers, Night, Dawn, Day, and Evening. Given the events of 9/11/01, I shall not speak of "light to my left, to my right, in front of me, behind me, above me, below me", but I shall share the following prayer so beautifully translated and delivered:

The Prayer: Ayat Al-Kursi

On the authority of Anas -
May Allah be pleased with him who said:

I heard the message of Allah, [arabic words]
May the blessings of peace of Allah be upon him, say -

Allah the almighty has said:

Oh son of Adam,
so long as you call upon me, and ask of me,
I shall forgive you for what you have done,
and I shall not mind.

Oh son of Adam,
were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky,
and were you then to ask forgiveness of me
I would forgive you.

Oh son of Adam,
Were you to come to me with sins nearly as great as the earth,
and were you then to face me, ascribing no partner to me,
I would bring you forgiveness
as close to it in measure.

5 out of 5 stars 5 Stars!.......2000-12-19

Anything less for a truely gifted man? Masha Allah. Extremely beautifully, and entertaining for the heart. All songs are accompanied by children, or other heartfelt men who sing soley for Allah. There are no musical instruments, only the lovely voices.

The dua's are a tremendous blessing, both with a clear, Arabic voice, for easy memorization, and with Sidi Yusef's voice serving for the English translation. Definatley worth memorizing for all occasions.

The Quran is beautiful said in both the Arabic and English language. The CD offers you the ability to record what you would like, so you can make a complete tape of songs, or dua. Make the PERFECT gift, or wonderful for any traffic time, spending time with Allah and those who are lovers are Allah, what a benifit!

5 out of 5 stars Great Gift for New and Old Muslims Alike :).......2000-01-11

This is a truly wonderful CD for both Muslims and those interested in Islam. As a new Muslim, I especially appreciated the Quranic recitation--as I could listen to it and work on my pronunciation. Ten different (I think) surahs are recited including Surah Al-Fatihah, al-Baqarah, al-Imran, al-Shuara, al-Takathur, al-Furqan, and al Ahzab. It also includes lots of different prayers including Istikhara, prayers before eating, etc.

Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens--think Wild World and Harold & Maude) does the narration, reading of the translation, as well as a few songs. The Quranic recitation is done by Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Alhousari.

The songs are great! (Love to see an album of simply Islamic songs!) My favorite is "If You Ask Me."

One criticism--I wish the CD-booklet included the transliteration (Arabic) and English for all of the different prayers.

If you're just starting to explore Islam--there are many great websites out there. I also highly recommend the book "Daughters of Another Path."

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful CD.......1999-10-30

This CD is wonderful. I brought it to Mosque Friday and the children listened to some of it before the Imam started talking. It is very good for children and new Muslims like myself. If you have any other questions about it then e-mail me.

5 out of 5 stars Strangely beautiful minimalism.......2003-09-13

I probably wouldn't have pursued this album until acquiring all of Mark Hollis' other albums from Colour of Spring forward, but I had an unbelievable stroke of luck at the local used CD store. Seeing that it was filed under "Hollis", I couldn't resist. (By the way, I must thank the reviewer who explained about Mr. Hollis' pseudonym.) As the opening, atonal strings slowly faded in, I wasn't sure what exactly I was getting into--but it drew me in and slowly won me over. At first I expected a sudden explosion into something rather like the last parts of Pink Floyd's "Sysyphus" (though with better technology), but I settled in fairly quickly.

Atonal. Mysterious. Minimalist. AV1 finely walks the line between music and sound. Notice I do not say music and *noise*, as that would imply something cacophonous, offputting. For instance, the opening notes in "Piano" resemble nothing more than the sweet, soft tolling of bells. Yes, there are a few moments thrown in there that are strange and a bit jarring, but acclimation comes rather quickly. The first track evoked in my mind images of something verdant, primieval, natural, not unlike the images from Fantasia's interpretation of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, or what I might imagine with Pink Floyd's "Signs of Life"--though perhaps significantly more understated than either example. In the second track I greatly appreciate the intricacies and subtle differences between the rather similar percussion rhythms. This, as with all minimalist works, is indeed about subtlety. "Piano" seems to be Mark Hollis' game with silence--here, the spaces between the notes are every bit as emotional as the sound that comes from his instrument not unlike intermittent drops of rain. "Steel" is probably the most atonal piece on the album, and in my opinion the least accessible track, but by the time you've come through the two halves of "AV1", and "Piano", it may seem less difficult. In fact, one of the snippets of sound reprises from the second half of "AV1", perhaps serving to cleverly bridge the gap in continuity one might initially perceive after "Piano's" interlude. In the end, I feel content, that I have heard a complete piece.

Reminders of Steve Reich and Brian Eno (think of his more ambient work such as the Apollo soundtracks) can be heard in AV1. This is pleasantly atmospheric music that can provide a nice backdrop for activities such as writing, reading, or drawing. For me, this is a choice for a relaxing evening at the coffee shop. This is for me very pleasant in character, and there are no obvious flaws to which I can point. I do recommend having a taste for minimalism, experimentation, and "ambient" forms of music--otherwise this may not be an appropriate choice for you, and you may wish to start with something slightly more accessible to help cultivate your tastes in the genre. But if you do already have that taste, or you are willing to go out on a limb to try something new, then by all means I suggest AV1 to you.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......2002-11-08

Honestly I was really looking forward to this cd because of all the positive reviews. Being a big fan of Mark Hollis (solo and with Talk Talk) I expected a lot. It was quite a disappointment when I heard it.

Do not expect something close to Talk Talk. Most of this cd sounds more like The Art of Noise (but not as good). The one (and only) track played by Mark Hollis sounds like his solo cd, but it does not really got me like his solo album.

I will propably sell this cd, something I almost never do...

5 out of 5 stars Pure genius, but not for all..........2000-08-30

Mark Hollis is a musician that is writing and performing music for himself. If you happen to be of his same mindset, you will love his music and this CD. What I love about this piece, indeed all of his music - particularly all Talk Talk albums after It's My Life, and his solo work (the self-titled Mark Hollis) is his timing and his unabashed fearlessness of silence. Mark is completely unconcerned with how people receive his music, which allows him total freedom in how he embraces silence and leisurely pacing.

This CD can be called a journey into the beauty of single notes. While other music can draw us in with it's melodic beauty or the mathematical structure of chords, this CD asks us to consider the elegance of sound itself, particularly single notes. But what makes it all worth while is the timing of this minimalism.

The music draws you in and practically forces you to pace yourself with it. It causes you to wait on it's every move. An example might be when that part of your favorite song approaches, and as it does you find yourself getting more and more involved and when it plays out you are fully into the moment. This CD will do that, and sustain it for a long period of time. It can be intense, and very visual if you allow yourself the time and peace to really immerse into it.

Which brings us full circle back to what I originally said about John's music in general. Summed up, that is; you will love it, or hate it. I play this CD for people when I want to understand more about them. Whether they love it, or hate it I end up knowing more about them. It's not a value judgement, it is simply such poignant music that it "evokes an emotional response" (to quote a line from Blade Runner).

I believe the sound/music on this CD is pure, and unadulterated brilliance. If I were forced to give an example of (somewhat) similar work in recent memory, I would say that Jon Hassell's Fascinoma is swimming in the same tidepool. Hollis is unquestionably a genius. Whether he is your kind of genius is for you to decide.

4 out of 5 stars Mar Hollis is on this album.......1999-10-12

The individual named John Cope is inactuality Mark Hollis. These segments were recorded between Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock. It is minimalist and not your usual seven year venture out by MH, but I believe well worth it.

5 out of 5 stars They missed the point completely!.......2007-07-24

If you are looking for disco then buy disco. If you are looking for a brilliant vocalist then hang onto this CD and listen when you are in the mood for an education! What you people don't know about music (sad)

4 out of 5 stars Murray Deserves a Little Respect.......2006-11-17

I am tired of reading people bash Murray Head for they are mad this album is not filled with songs like One Night in Bangkok and that the version is different from the hit. Well it really isn't. This version is the version from the play Chess and is an extended version of the hit. It adds a 1.20 instrumental and then the song is exactly the same.
Murray didn't change anything, but include the real version. The hit just cut the intrumental.

Now to review the cd:

Murray Head's hero was John Lennon and like Lennon he is an intellectual songwriter. He doesn't do Top 40 and One Night in Bangkok is not really reflective of his style.
If people want Top 40 go buy Hits of the 80's and other collections like that, but stop bashing Murray for his songs are well more thoughtful & well written than the flash in the pan song Bangkok, which is so dated now.

Murray appeals to people who want something deeper than mindless pop.

I have all his records and this album sadly is not really a Greatest Hits album. It is missing several of his best songs like Last Days of an Empire, HeY Lady & Going Home from his best album Voices, Countryman from Between Us, In the Heart of You from Sooner or Later, and Nothing to Lose & Make it Easy from Innocence.

What is on here is a collection of songs handed picked from his albums and obscure songs from movies.

There are some great songs like the heartfelt Never Even Thought - a remake from Say it Ain't So and better than the original, When You're in Love - a moving song about breaking up which we can all identify with, Dearest Anne, a lovely song from a movie, Affair Across a Crowded Room from Voices and Mademoiselle - another remake, but a wonderful song about an aging belle of the ball.

There are other good songs too like Say it Ain't So, another remake of an old song, not as good, but not bad, Los Angeles, No Mystery, With or Without Me,and You Are.

It has a decent version of Bangkok if you like that, but not the radio version.

It does have a few French songs and only has a few duds like All The Way and Maman.

If you want Top 40 pass on this, but if you like John Lennon, then maybe this album is for you.

I would though tell you to buy Voices first - one of the best, unheard albums of the early 80's - came out in 1980.

1 out of 5 stars This must be different night in Bangkok!.......2006-09-11

I shelled out nearly $20 for this CD since it's an import. Like most people, I know one song by Murray Head, "One Night in Bangkok." It's not even the original version, it's a re-make of some sorts, which is not as good. There's not much of anything else on this CD that's great either. If these are his greatest hits, then clearly, I'm not a fan.

1 out of 5 stars One Night in Bangkok.......2006-07-11

Like several others who wrote in, I was mainly looking for the popular version of "one Night in Bangkok". Just wanted to say that I was finally able to find the popular version on "Just Can't Get Enough: New Wave Hits of The '80's, Vol. 14."

1 out of 5 stars Gyp.........2006-06-29

Like the others, I am searching for the 'One Night in Bangkok' and this is some weirded up version of the classic. It's a waste of money. I still haven't found the original.

Album Description

20 Years in the Making YUSUF ISLAM's LATEST RELEASE. With 8 songs - most of which he wrote and 1 he performs, he explains the basics of his faith through the vehicle of the 28 letter Arabic alphabet. The album takes its name from the title track written by Yusuf after the birth of his first child back in 1980 but never officially released. Read about why Yusuf decided to resume his career in production 17 years after accepting Islam. "A is for Allah" also introduces Zain Bhikha, a young up-and-coming artist from South Africa, part of Yusuf's efforts to encourage and work with talented artists. Zain, who flew in especially to record, loved the experience. " I'm not too sure if I can ever express in words what it felt like to work with Yusuf Islam. It was something I've dreamt of doing since I started singing in 1994". This album will accompany the 68 page full colour hardback book of the same name- which contains the complete text as well as all the lyrics - that was released in the UK in November 19! 99. Some trivia-- apparently a pirate copy of the song A is for Allah was bootlegged all around the world and amazingly hit the top of the charts in Turkey in the 1980s; a decade later he was to achieve the same with Tala'a al-Badru 'Alayna from the album The Life of the Last Prophet (1995). Double CD and Book.

Peace and Blessings,
I truly enjoyed both CDs, A is for Allah and Bismillah.
I found myself playing them over and over.
Yusuf Islam did excellent on these CDs... makes me proud to me a Muslim.

Unfortunately my wonderful CDs were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina and are no longer available through Amazon.

If anyone can direct me to where I can purchase these CDs, A is for Allah and Bismillah, please post a message to this site.

Thanks,
Suez

Needless to say there are no future plans for a US tour.

3 out of 5 stars Done Well, could be better.......2004-01-31

As a Muslim, I was pleased that an ENglish language Muslim album had been put out, but was less plesed when I actually heard it. This very much a children's album; not what it had been made out to be. Oh well.

For Muslim music in English that is for adults, I recommend "Soldiers of Allah", a group that has performed with Yusuf. You probably can't find their Cd outside of the Middle East, so I'd advise you to download it(even if it illegal, it's the only way).

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully done........2002-08-22

I purchased this CD after having listened to some of Yusuf Islam's music, although, I am ashamed to admit, after my sister dowloaded some of his songs from the internet for my newborn son.
I was immediately enchanted and wanted to listen to more.
This CD is so beautifully put together that when you are listening to it in the car you don't want to shut it off even after you have reached your destination.
The Surah and songs are used to explain and support the his narration of the alphabet. For example, after A is for Allah, AyatulKursi is recited to explain the Power and Abilities of Allah.
The song lyrics are simple enough for any child to understand and at the same time very meaningful. I find myself constantly singing them.
My only suggestions to you when listening to this CD is to listen to it carefully and in the order it is presented.
Then the last song, A is Allah, will be so much more meaningful. After that you can go back to any thing you liked out of the CD.
I hope this helps.

5 out of 5 stars A fine introduction to Islam for English-speaking people.......2001-11-04

By means of the 28 character Arabic alphabet, in order, Yusuf Islam, a Britisher, a convert and the author and narrator, associates each letter with an Arabic word representing an Arabic concept.

Interspersed with the explanation of each word/concept are Arabic song and/or phrases. The concepts are given context and are shown to demonstrate the connection to Allah as revealed in the Qu'ran.

Those new to Islam are introduced to the basic tenets of the faith and basic doctrines, such as the Five Pillars of Islam, Ramadan (ninth month of a holy moon), Al-Salat (the way of prayer set by the rising and falling of the sun), fasting, generosity in wealth, purification and cleansing, salaam (peace and safety), hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca, the importance of education through reading and gaining wisdom with proper guidance (most importantly, the Qu'ran), believing in unseen things (faith), supreme relevance of the prophet and messenger Mohammed and the Day of Judgment. In sum and over both CDs, Yusuf Islam is demonstrating that Islam is a way of life as he has come to know it.

This is a double album and is a production of the Mountain of Light organization based in London. The first CD is color-coded red, the second, sky blue. It is appropriate for all age groups. Yusuf Islam's voice is calm and pleasing, measured and soothing. The musical interludes are brief and appropriate. There is a children's choir that sings some of the songs which are done in English. Certain songs are done with women's voices unlike the voices in "Prayers of the Last Prophet" produced by the same organization.

Do not be dissuaded by those who say "A is for Allah" is for children for it is a tenet that we are all children of Allah.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars White hot fusionesque rock! .......2005-10-15

The Soft Machine influence is obvious, but in execution Quiet Sun created something completely different. Phil Manzanera simply sears on guitar here, leading a Canterbury-style jazz-rock band with all the edge of "Red"-era King Crimson, AND the Latin passion of Santana. The production and mastering on this disc are amazingly hot, the compositions interesting and diverse, and the performance is brimming with spontaneity and band chemistry.

As a fan of the edgier sorts of progrock, this CD qualifies as one of my prize possessions. A magical album, too bad they didn't do another--but it's doubtful they could have topped THIS sizzling slab of raw beauty.

5 out of 5 stars Perhaps the peak fusion of progressive music ideas.......2002-03-06

Quiet Sun was Phil Manzanera's pre-Roxy Music endeavor. (Few people realize that he was originally Roxy Music's sound person. He joined Roxy Music when their original guitarist--David O'List, formerly of the Nice--was not working out.). Quiet Sun came perilously close to gaining their own record contract in 1971, but their complexity and radical style did not gel with the appetites of the record execs they auditioned for. They broke up in 1972, and when Manzanera had money and studio time, they reformed. Roughly speaking, this CD is a blend of Tony Williams' Lifetime, Soft Machine (Manzanera's main influence was Soft Machine organist Mike Ratledge), and perhaps 1973-1974 King Crimson (with some instrumental Velvets thrown in). It is a shame that the album was a one-shot deal--they apparently have other material from the sessions--as the playing and intensity are awe-inspiring. You'll never look at Phil Manzanera the same way again; I guarantee it. Of all of the musicians on this CD, only Charles Hayward has continued in a progressive artistic bent (through This Heat, Camberwell Now, solo efforts, and recently Massacre--an amazing player.) If you like aggressive, thoughtful, impressive playing (think a rockier Soft Machine with comparable instrumental chops) you'll love this! Get it!

5 out of 5 stars Progressive Rock at its finest!.......1999-04-23

Phil Manzanera's spin-off project from Roxy Music is almost entirely instrumental and features Phil's sonic guitar onslaught in a way never heard with any other group. It also features Brian Eno with most of what would become 801. A must have for Manzanera fans and prog rock afficianados.

4 out of 5 stars Case of the essential rain drop.......2005-09-03

Bill comes to us in the guise of a megalithic rain drop constantly dripping with an ambient background to sustain the intensity. It is a chapter right out of Noah and the Ark but with water as the main theme and with God as the absent plumber. If you are into Chinese water torture or leaky faucets you will enjoy this work. One thing is for certain, you will hear the biggest water drop of your life. A must for all who are into water music (unlike the Handel kind)!

4 out of 5 stars Cool ambience...great for insomnia.......2003-07-05

If you like Brian Eno's ambient series then you'll love this. This is great music to relax and/or sleep to.

5 out of 5 stars Improves with each listen.......2003-05-22

Bill Nelson does a great job on this CD with this dreamy melodic effort. One thing I might add to these other fine reviews is that after listening to this many times over I believe that both songs are identical.

5 out of 5 stars Environmental protection.......2001-03-03

This little gem is a recent favorite of mine and if you are a fan of Eno's 'On Land' this will prove a pleasant surprise. Two 30 minute soundscapes that soar, rumble and brood, complementing an environmental installation. For those familiar only with Bill Nelson's wonderful guitar, 'Crimsworth' is an excellent diversion into a real landscape imagined in musical terms. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars A great surprise from Nelson.......2000-03-14

Bill Nelson is an extremely prolific artist. He puts out records high and low, and my previous experiences is - while he has excellent judgement in whom he works with (David Sylvian, Harold Budd and Roger Eno come to mind) - his own output hasn't really appealed to me. However, this release shows that he really knows how to create great atmosphere. Not unlike the David Sylvian/Holger Czukay collaborations from the late 80's (esp. Plight+Premonition), this is an absolutely gorgeous pece of layered work, the kind you wish would go on forever (there are 2 similar tracks, which both clock at around 30 minutes). Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars RADIANT.......2001-08-16

This music is so good, I'm afraid to even try writing about it. So, forgive me if this does not do justice to "Songs". While the music of Mr. Greaves is not always easy to like - sometimes it seems too self-involved and opaque, sometimes abstract simply to be abstract - everything on "Songs" has its place, its purpose, and an incredible polish. The word play and musical evolution of the first track, "Song", alone is beyond most of what's out there. Even more remarkable is the feeling that this music so closely touches on the brilliance of some of the work with Slapp Happy on "Desparate Straights" with an added maturity, subtlety and control that is breathtaking to behold. "Songs" arrives at an incredible balance between eccentricity and meaning that is capable of resonating in the hearts and minds of anyone who listens. This is a collection of remarkable writing and performing that feels pure, very human, very smart and stunning in its completeness and restraint. There is not a single miscue, and nowhere do the musicians overstep, even with the incongruous messages disguised here and there throughout the mix. Buy it, and just see if you can stop listening.

5 out of 5 stars A Welshman in Paris.......2000-06-18

Definitely Greaves' best album! Low-key, beautiful, melancholy songs in very tasteful acoustic arrangements. Sort of laid-back-art-rock-jazz-standards by a nostalgic Welshman in a smoky French café. Guest vocals by (among others) Robert Wyatt (in charming and improved re-recordings of "Kew Rhone" and "The song", the latter off The Lodge's "Smell of a friend" album) and Kristoffer Blegvad. Indeed, many of the songs would fit in well on just about any Robert Wyatt album: same mood, same melodies. Mainly French musicians that I have never heard of, however their playing is GREAT. Lots of double bass, piano and acoustic guitars, and very fresh sound quality. *The* place to begin your acquaintance with mr. Greaves!

5 out of 5 stars A Unique & Moving Musical Memoir.......2003-02-05

Commissioned by BBC Radio 3 in December 1995, this CD tells the story of Jakko Jakszyk's search for his birth parents, and what he found.

Adopted at 18 months, raised in England by a French mother and Polish father, Jakszyk found himself searching for his roots at age 24. His adoptive parents were both touched by tragedy in WWII, and their stories, told in imaginatively edited interviews and the accompanying booklet, are heartbreaking. Jakko's search eventually leads him to his Irish birth mother (living in Arkansas), and HER story is similarly stirring.

The spoken word excerpts are combined with sound effects and soundscapes recorded on-site in Poland, Ireland, Germany, France and England. These are then fitted into a musical score of synthesizers, guitar, flute (all by Jakko), plus bass, cello and trumpet and saxophones by guest musicians. The musical themes interweave with the narration, sometimes picking up the rhythms of the speech (similar to what American composer Scott Johnson has done) and the rest of the time providing a simple but haunting framework. The spoken material is treated like any other element of the composition, with judicious looping, repeating themes, and a documentarian's sense of pace. Jakko himself ties together the stories with a few carefully-chosen memories of growing up.

The result is a movie-for-your-ears, deep and powerful; and to my knowledge something completely unique in the world of music.

4 out of 5 stars Bass Communion - 'Bass Communion II' (Resurgence).......2006-12-23

Yet,another one of Porcupine Tree's main man Steve Wilson's side projects. He's got several,so I hear, like the three releases by Incredible Expanding Mindf**k(check them out). This is my first ever listen to Bass Communion and I like what I hear. In my humble opinion,it's best described as 'ambient progressive'. Tracks that make this import title a true keeper are the spaced out "Advert", "16 Second Swarm" and the thirteen minute, atmospheric "Wide Open Killingfield". Also liked the bonus two-track EP, but I don't understand why they simply couldn't tag those songs onto the one CD. Good release to have, just the same. Might appeal to fans of Flower Kings, Translantic, No Man and Flying Saucer Attack.

5 out of 5 stars Underrated, yet excellent.......2002-11-12

I think this is a brilliant record. Not to over rate the record but it is very good. Not many ambient music makers lately have made an album like this one. I own the new 2002 version w an extra track but the rest is the same.
Couldn t resist to review it.

Expect a very straightforward yet mature and complete record from S Wilson here. I leave the rest to you. Get this cd, put on headphones or crank it up and enjoy it.

3 out of 5 stars Trippy project from Steve Wilson.......2001-11-01

Though an avid admirer of Porcupine Tree [S.Wilson`s brainchild],Bass Communion was unlike anything I expected.
The music can best be described as a sonic experiment of ambient nature. Although interesting, the tracks a very long and sleep inducing. I recommend this for; insomniacs, space travellers and curious potheads. I imagine this music to be interesting after you have done some time in an isolation tank, things would get weird quick.
No offense to S.Wilson`s brilliance. If you really want to hear his talents at work check out Porcupine Tree esp;``Lightbulb Sun``,``Sky Moves Sideways``and``Recordings``.

Christian does a very good job of describing this album, so I just wanted to point out the one thing he missed - this is BC's second album. The first one, also eponymous, was released a couple of years ago on the Third Stone label, STONE 036CD, and is now quiet difficult to obtain.
