Where is the damn follow up?.......2005-08-09

Accidentally found out about Karen Ires -- when she opened up for Lloyd Cole for a benefit concert. Live she was OK, in fact good enough to invest in the CD's on sale at the concert. This is a haunting and cool albumn; she has such command of her vocals -- with real sensuality and real insight. Why has not this talent released more records? I think that she could top Sheryl Crow's Globe Sessions; and if she learns the piano - watch out Norah Jones.

and a penchant for great guitar riffs, catchy melodies, and wonderful lyrics. i've seen her three times live, and she never disappoints. some singer/songwriters fade fast on the live stage, but not karen! she shines, she shines... especially in the dark. the textures and soundscapes she portrays are simply beautiful, if at times haunting and dark. favorite songs are star, one closed eye, faithless, suburban, 5am, and... well... just about every single one! "i could tell you were a star before i saw you in the dark" -- surely this applies to karen herself-- destined for greatness, if not commercially then as a cult classic. buy this album now! [....]

Wow! I just got this album after listening to it on MP3.com where i completely fell in love with it! I completely love this whole album!!! Karen has one amazing voice and her music is what I have long to hear! It's the perfect music to relax to and listen to in the car! My favorite tracks so far are "star","hotel room", "suburban"- which i listen to over and over, and "note" which is a very angelic song! I am still in AWE of her and I hope everyone buys this album and enjoys it as much as i do!
