33 Revolutions + Some Other Minor Skirmishes

Editorial Reviews
Album Description
The highly anticipated follow up to the Uniform's 2 LP-only releases on Morphius. These former members of The Great Unraveling and UOA (both of Kill Rock Stars) continue to crank out the post-punk/new wave/no wave hits. Rave reviews from Skyscraper, Heartattack, MRR, and more drove their first 12" quickly out of print, and the second has sold even faster, and is also out of print. This is the Uniform's first CD release, and it includes 10 brand new tracks, plus the "If It Takes The Form Of A Human..." 12", and their tracks from the Fuses/Uniform "In Love With Electricity" split 12"...21 tracks in all! The sound of yesterday, if it happened tomorrow...

4 out of 5 stars This CD is a hammer to the skull.......2001-05-30

This is fantastic. It took 3 mp3s for me to decide to quickly get this CD, and it's a choice I do not regret in any way. Now, The Uniform, for the uninitiated, are a 3 piece rock band from Baltimore, Maryland. Don't laugh, Baltimore (with these guys, the Fuses, and The Oranges) are quickly becoming Baltimore Rock City 2001. As soon as you put the CD in, you hear what sounds like the first song ("Needless To Say I Pleasured Them All") starting..a little late, as if someone hit the RECORD button off sync. The effect is disorientating and chaotic and a perfect beginning to a great CD. Filled with jagged rhythms, screamed vocals, hilarious song titles and amazing hardcore hooks which remind me of Nation Of Ulysses, this CD is perhaps the best punk rock out there right now. Add an amazing Big Black cover and the strangeness of "Abbreviate Your Love" and....dammit, don't you own it yet? I'm not kidding. These guys need to tour, now. The only reason, the ONLY POSSIBLE REASON I'm not giving this 5 stars (I'd like to give it 4 1/2, actually) is the production. The Uniform are pretty low-fi, they record direct into a 4 track mastered later on mini-disc. This method gives their sound an urgency to match their songs, but at the same time dulls their power..SOMEWHAT. Production values are for housewives and sissies, anyway, just crank it up loud like I do.
