The best (and most original) Blur song to date...........2000-10-31

Blur seems to be taking a cue from Radiohead, in that they are delving into an experimental phase, which really began on their last album '13'. It seems as if they've shrugged off their former 'Brit-Poppy' attitude, and adopted a more unique style. When first listened to, Damon's mumbling vocals don't appeal to you right away; it takes a few listens to really get into it. This song really signifies the departure from Blur's 'Pop' style, to more groove-oriented melodies

Buy this for the b-side!.......2000-10-24

One of the b-sides of this CD is an unreleased live track from 1992 called "7 Days" and is worth buying in itself. A must for true Blur fans!

this song is a lot like the stuff damon did for the ordinary decent criminal soundtrack. i think it's great and i am looking forward to the new stuff that blur is apparently putting together right now.

good b-sides.......2003-12-03

The version of Music is My Radar included here is the radio edit, meaning that there's about two minutes shaved off of the lp version, which isn't bad... Black Book is a long, "spacey" kinda song and one of the band's better b-sides... Into Another is an amazing song from a BBC session back in the Leisure era and it is really good. You'll want to hear this if your a fan of the first couple blur albums.

Personally, I don't really like the actual single, Music Is My Radar......it's one of Blur's least inspired efforts in my opinion.......anyway, the reason I gave this 3 stars is because of the b-side Black Book.......I heard they were really close to putting it on the 13 album but it was the last one to be discarded....I wish they would have put it on because it would have fit perfectly and made 13 slightly more listenable as a whole......as you can tell, I think Black Book is one of Blur's very best b-sides (and if you are a fan, you know they have a LOT of great b-sides), if not their best......buy this single for that song and enjoy!

Another Re-invention?.......2000-12-20

Now that the dust has settled from the "Blur V. Oasis" bout (which was really pop media's creation), this single stands as a testament to Blurs constantly changing (evolving?) sound. The grooving, dancy percussion on the title track perhaps evokes memories of early Happy Mondays, doused with a helping of fuzzed out guitar and Damon Albarns signature vocal style (really the only constant throughout their recording career). It's not many steps ahead of "13", but really wouldn't fit in comfortably on that album. It's hard to say they've evolved, because they never move in a forward line. They sway and waver and make full turns with each new recording. No doubt, fans of the band, not just fly-by night fans as a result of the self titled album,will enjoy this quick shot. Whether or not it's a sign of things to come is open for debate, but no one can accuse Blur of blowing in the wind of the times. Still ahead of most of their "britpop" contemporaries in terms of creativity, and after hearing the rubbish Oasis has been putting out in the last 4 years, Blur can stand proud of this acheivement.

Experimental and good..A nice piece after 13.......2000-10-29

The new single "Music Is My Radar" is a very good single. If you are hoping for Old Blur you won't find that but it's no 13. It has kind of an african folk beat to it mixed with nosiy crunchy guitar with the usual vocals by Mr.Albarn. This single is worth getting. I must say I'm happy to hear Blur do something good again.

Blur Disappointment.......2004-06-15

"Music is My Radar" must be one of Blur`s weakest singles. Compared to classic singles like "The Universal", "Beetlebum" or "Coffee and TV" this is a bit of a disappointment. The song simply lacks melody.

I like "Black Book" much better - even though it`s a typical Blur B-side.
